This chapter reviews related literature from both local and foreign sources on enrollment procedures and student satisfaction. Some key findings include:
- Foreign studies found that enrollment in Canadian universities doubled from 1980-2010, driven by demand for skilled labor. Universities have expanded programs to meet student needs.
- Local literature describes different enrollment classifications and procedures at Philippine universities. Factors like test scores, grades, and program fit determine admission.
- Other studies found that streamlining paper-based enrollment to electronic systems improved efficiency, saved money, and enhanced services at universities. Focusing on student satisfaction is important for retention, recruitment, and institutional effectiveness.

This chapter presents the review of related literature and studies and both local and foreign, which were taken from different source. It also includes internet materials, magazine and encyclopedia that have important to the study, This chapter also include the theoretical framework, conceptual framework, synthesis of the art, gap bridge by the study and definition of terms.
Foreign literature In 2010, there were almost 1.2 million students in degree programs on Canadian campuses: 755,000 undergraduates, 143,400 graduate students studying full-time, and an additional 275,800 students studying part-time. Fifty-six percent of university student were women, and 10 percent were international students. The number of full-time university students has more than doubled since 1980, and part-time enrollment is up 16 percent. In 1980, there were 550,000 full-time and 218,000 part-time university students on Canadian campuses. Clearly, universities have experienced tremendous growth over the last 30 years. So what has driven growth in university enrollment? The demand for a highly skilled and educated labor force has been a principal driver in the growth of university participation rates. Canada has shifted from a resource- based economy to a service-based one, resulting in a different mix of job available for Canadians. The fastest growing occupations are now in Canadas service sector, the growth in university enrollment is evidence that students are responding to changes in the labor market, and that universities, in turn, are responding to the students, universities have more than doubled their capacity in the last 30 years, and continue to introduce new programs that meet student demand. 1
This literature shows the projecting future enrollment levels, even over a relatively short period, is difficult to do with great precision. Enrollment well also affected by labor market demand for highly qualified graduates, example of this factor includes government policies that influence the availability of human and physical resources (technology and space). It relates to our study because of the student respondent to enhancing the quality of enrollment procedure in mariners polytechnic colleges foundation by providing more engaging learning experience about the technology. Park University is an innovation private university. Enrollment at the university increased dramatically. And the university found that its decentralized, manual, paper-based enrollment process was out of date. At that time, each campus center relied on its own enrollment process. But the basic steps involved collecting, copy and shipping paper documents to a central registrars office for official storage. The deluge of paperwork overwhelmed the admissions, registrars and financial aid offices. And the university was no able to process application in a timely fashion. In fact, it sometimes took 30 days to complete the process. All told, the delay in processing applications cost the university an estimated $1.5 million in lost revenue every term. The difficulties associated with accessing information also had a significant impact on organizational efficiency and the quality of student services. Park Universitys Senior Team developed and implemented an effective, long-term document management strategy with help from a proven partnerXerox. 2 This study talk about the improving of the used procedure of enrolment to an effective way of less hassle and approve by the department involve. It relates to our study because they have been study their enrolment procedure and the things they do for improvement of their service. The University of Derby has operated an electronic enrollment system for over 9 years. An electronic system was first trialed in 1992 followed by the implementation of a system developed in partnership with software provider in 1993. The system operated until June 2000 when it was replaced with a web based system. The operation of the system mirrored some of that used in the manual system but required changes in business practice in order to maximize the benefits gained. Used of the system meant a far wider involvement in the enrollment process by other department within the university than previously. Data was imported on a semi-automatic basis into the SRS (student record system) on a regular overnight import, report on numbers and the provision of class list was then undertaken from the main student system. In 2000 derby has move to a new web based system in order to meet the demands created by the changing nature of the student and to take advantage of opportunities created by new technology. 3 This literature is related to the present study for a reason that it shows the important of technology, making the enrollment grow and to enhance the enrollment procedure in Mariners Polytechnic College Foundation reaching the high quality procedure.
Azusa pacific university, Student satisfaction is of compelling interest to colleges and universities as they seek to continually improve the learning environment for students meet the expectations of their constituent groups and legislative bodies, and demonstrate their institutional effectiveness. Unlike service industries, which hold satisfaction as a goal in and of itself, colleges and universities typically perceive satisfaction as a means to an end. Higher education tends to care about student satisfaction because of its potential impact on student motivation, retention, recruitment effort, and fundraising. 4 In a service institutional organization, student satisfaction is the most important determining factor of improvement learning environment for students. In the same way, Azusa pacific university focused on satisfaction of student. Because of this, physical environment is highly considered due its huge effects on students mood and behavior. Enrollment management plan developed by Muskegon community college, according to Craig Engel, senior vice president of Noel-Levitz, enrollment management is an institutional wide, systematic, comprehensive, research driven system designed to locate, attract, and retain the students the institution wishes to serve. Mr. Engel further stated in the above power point presentation enrollment management is about moving from a current state to a desire state. Enrollment management is holistic and synergistic. It requires cooperation and a sort of functioning as one it is a cradle to grave process that begins at the first point of the students goal. Enrollment management is a comprehensive process designed to help achieve and maintain optimum enrollment. It is an aspect institutional-wide process that permeates virtually every aspect of the colleges function and culture.(Seidman, 1995) Muskegon community college believes the ultimate goal of an enrollment management plan is: to achieve the colleges desired enrollment state, to improve the quality of student life and learning, to ensure student success and satisfaction. 5 The literature is related to the present study because it talks about student satisfaction through service improvement they clearly understand the need of students. They believe the ultimate goal is to achieve the college desire and ensure the student success.
Local literature Philippines colleges and universities had their own institutional-specific enrollment procedure, which were given in different times. Students enrolled at De La Salle Lipa College are classified as New, Old, Transfer, Audit/special, International. New students are admitted based on the results of the entrance examination and evaluation conducted by the admissions committee; Old students are admitted based on the grades received from the previous semester. Policies on readmission or non -readmission of old students are contained in this handbook; Transfer students are admitted based on the records presented and evaluation conducted by the admission committee. Crediting of subject is being conducted by the curriculum and evaluation in charge from the OR in coordination with the department chairs and the deans based on the following guidelines set by the institutional; Audit student are those who take classes for purely educational purposes, and not for academic credit; International students upon endorsement of the institutional admissions and testing office (IATO), international students will be evaluated and interviewed by the chair of the English language area (ELA) of the college of education, arts and sciences. Such evaluation has to be scheduled by both the IATO and chair of ELA.

On his study of student self-enrollment at the university of derby, has stated that the student enrollment system produced benefit in the timeless of the data, which created secondary benefits such as the ability to start invoicing much earlier. He mentioned that the system has also improved the accuracy and consistency of data, since student could only enter what they were allowed to there is less room for errors or guest, he had discussed that the system, although never intended to be its by-product, improved the image of the institution in the eyes of the student and others. The system also improved the service provided to students who previously had enroll in many different locations and had to wait for considerable periods for their details to be entered in the system and identification cards.
Another theory on client satisfaction advocated by kevin j. cooley stated that an entity needs to know what it takes to satisfy their clients before the can do it well. Thus, there is needs to take time to ask their clients, listen and understand their answer and act on them. this statement is further strengthened by the goal of marketing which is to build and maintain a preference for a company and its products within the target markets. The goal of any business is to build mutually profitable and sustainable relationship with its costumers
