This manual describes the router DSL-2520U and explains how to configure and operate it.
This manual is intended for users familiar with basic networing concepts! who create an in-home
local area networ! and s"stem administrators! who install and configure networs in offices.

General Information
The DSL-2520U de'ice is an affordable high-end #DSL router de'eloped for home and S+,+
$Small Office/Home Office% networs. &t pro'ides fast and simple broadband access to the &nternet
and a shared connection for multi users.
DSL-2520U pro'ides all the essentials for creating a secure high-speed wired networ-
#DSL.#DSL2.#DSL2/ standards! 0ast 1thernet standard! the built-in firewall! the 2oS engine!
and numerous additional features.
The router is e3uipped with an #DSL port to connect to an #DSL line and an 1thernet port! which
can be used to connect one computer or switch. The de'ice is also e3uipped with a US4 port! to
which "ou can connect a single computer.
The router DSL-2520U includes a built-in firewall. The ad'anced securit" functions minimi5e
threats of hacer attacs! pre'ent unwanted intrusions to "our networ! and bloc access to
unwanted websites for users of "our L#6.
7ou can configure and manage the settings of the router DSL-2520U 'ia the user-friendl" web-
based interface $the interface is a'ailable in se'eral languages%.

Using a power suppl" with a different 'oltage rating than the one included will cause
damage and 'oid the warrant" for this product.
Safety Instructions
)lace "our router on a flat hori5ontal surface or mount the router on the wall $the mounting holes
are located on the bottom panel of the de'ice%. =ae sure that the router is pro'ided with sufficient
'entilation.
To pre'ent o'erheating! do not obstruct the 'entilation openings of the router.
)lug the router into a surge protector to reduce the ris of damage from power surges and lightning
stries.
+perate the router onl" from an electrical outlet with the correct power source as indicated on the
adapter.
Do not open the co'er of the router. +therwise an" warrant" will be in'alidated.
Unplug the e3uipment before dusting and cleaning. Use a damp cloth to clean the e3uipment. Do
not use li3uid.aerosol cleaners or magnetic.static cleaning de'ices.

Before You Begin
)lease! read this manual prior to installing the de'ice. =ae sure that "ou ha'e all the necessar"
information and e3uipment.
$peratin! Syste"
*onfiguration of the router DSL-2520U $hereinafter referred to as Ithe routerJ% is performed 'ia the
built-in web-based interface. The web-based interface is a'ailable from an" operating s"stem that
supports a web browser.
We& 'rowser
The following web browsers are recommended- Hindows &nternet 1xplorer! =o5illa 0irefox or
+pera.
0or successful operation! :a'aScript should be enabled on the web browser. =ae sure that
:a'aScript has not been disabled b" other software $such as 'irus protection or web user securit"
pacages% running on "our computer.
NIC ()t*ernet Adapter+
#n" computer that uses the router should be e3uipped with an 1thernet adapter $6&*%. &f "our
computer is not e3uipped with such a de'ice! install an 1thernet adapter prior to using the router.

2. *onnect an 1thernet cable between the 1thernet port located on the bac panel of the router
and the 1thernet port of "our )*.
>. *onnect a phone cable between the DSL port of the router and the ADSL $,T port of the
splitter. *onnect "our phone to the P%$N) port of the splitter. Then connect another phone
cable between a phone Kac and the ADSL IN port of the splitter.
;. *onnect the power cord to the power connector port on the bac panel of the router! then
plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet or power strip.
5. Turn on "our )* and wait until "our operating s"stem is completel" loaded.

Do not connect "our router to "our )* until the US4 dri'er is installed.
8. Turn on "our computer and wait until the operating s"stem is completel" loaded. &nsert the
*D from the router(s deli'er" pacage into the *D 9+= dri'e. +pen the dis and go to the
US1Dri*er folder! then run the setu'"e%e file. Hait until the US4 dri'er is installed.
Hhen the installation is completed! clic the 4inis( button.
2. *onnect a phone cable between the DSL port of the router and the ADSL $,T port of the
splitter. *onnect "our phone to the P%$N) port of the splitter. Then connect another phone
cable between a phone Kac and the ADSL IN port of the splitter.
>. *onnect the power cord to the power connector port on the bac panel of the router! then
plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet or power strip.
;. *onnect the US4 cable between the US4 port located on the bac panel of the router and
the US4 port of "our )*.

upon initial configuration of the router. To do this! proceed to the S<ste& 3
Ad&inistrator 'ass+ord page.
The web-based interface of the router is multilingual. Select a needed language from the menu
displa"ed when the mouse pointer is o'er the Language caption. 7ou can change the language of
the web-based interface in an" menu item.

rele'ant fields and clic the Sa*e button.

used for applications that allow 'arious dela"s and losses of

cells are sent in an effort to minimi5e lag or Kitter caused b" traffic
inconsistencies. Hhen "ou select this 'alue from the drop-down list!
the Pea6 Cell !ate field is displa"ed. Specif" a re3uired 'alue $in
cells per second%.

$Constant Bit Rate%- This ser'ice is used for applications that
re3uire a constant data rate. &t is mostl" used for transferring
uncompressed audio and 'ideo! e.g. 'ideoconferencing! interacti'e

education! e-shops%! and retrie'al $'ideo-on demand! audio
