Time Finder/Mirrors(BCV)

Up to! 995, to perform backup operations on standard volumes, the application and
file system should be shutdown .So the downtime is mandatory. In order to
overcome the downtime and to achieve RTO=0,Split mirror tecnolo!y was
introduced.Which lead to the eneration of !"# s B"S#$%SS CO$T#$"&$C%

!"# device is used to create an additional mirror imae of a standard device in order
to provide the facilities mentioned above.
!usiness continuance is achieved throuh !"# devices, the standard stand&alone
Symmetri* devices that are specially confiured to be dynamic mirrors.
!"# devices should be synchroni+ed with standard devices to perform replication and
obtain point ,in time physical mirror copies.

Operations per-ormed on BCVs
1. %sta/lis) Synchroni+e the standard volume with the !"# volumes. $here
are two types of synchroni+ations full and incremental. $he first
synchroni+ation is always full and the rest are mostly incremental.
2. Split) $erminate relationship between !"# and Standard %evices. $here are
two types of splits instant split and consistent split. 4rom 7nenuity 5*89
instant split has become a default split.
3. Restore %urin the restore operation, data on the standard is replaced
with the data brouht from the !"# device. %urin this phase )pplications
