July/August 2014
our mission / Serving the Kansas City refugee community with the Truth and Love of Jesus
Emma and her friend Lal. They are both 7 years old,
and best of buddies whenever they are together. Lal is the
daughter of Pastor Run Tho, and we hosted his family
(about 15 Burmese) for July 4th weekend. We fed them a
traditional American July 4th meal, lit fireworks, and
played games. Such a fun time to love them, and to
celebrate freedom together.

Live as people who are free
I Peter 2:16a
Our sweet friend, Than Dar Myint. She has been learning
English from Johanna since February, and has improved
greatly in her understanding of our language. She is a young
married gal with 2 kids, and she loves Jesus. And we are
thankful for our growing friendship with her and her family.
And she has a smile of pure joy - here she is during our
Ladies Discipleship Event in early July.

A joyful heart is good medicine
Proverbs 17:22a
Johanna teaching. In July, we organized a HUGE outreach
to the Burmese community that focused mainly on discipling
ladies and children. Over 100 attended. Here is Johanna
teaching, which she loves to do. She taught the ladies for 3
straight days, all day long! Topics like Biblical parenting,
household management, hygiene, proper nutrition, and much
more. All through translation. What a trip!

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another
I Peter 4:10
While Johanna and her team were busy teaching over
30 Burmese mothers, Micah was busy with his huge
team of volunteers as they ran an awesome Kids Camp
for over 70 Burmese kids. We played games, had water
fights, and shared with them about Jesus. Americans
and Burmese worshiping God together.

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous
works among all the peoples!
Psalm 96:3
Emma: She is growing up fast, and
is such a helper around the house,
and in our growing ministry.
Friends: Two of our Burmese
friends as Johanna teaches them
how to make American food at a
recent discipleship event.
Esther: This is the wife of Run Tho,
our Burmese pastor friend. She knows
how to sew by hand, but has never been
able to use a modern electric sewing
machine. A special friend gave this
machine to Esther. Look at the joy on
her face!
Buddies: Abigail and Grace are
growing fast, and here they are
ready to be game helpers for our
Burmese Kids Camp.
Language: Abigail and her
Burmese friend Veronica hanging
out at our house while Veronica
teaches Abigail Burmese words.
Freedom: Pastor Run Tho and his
family lining up to eat their very first
American 4th of July meal at our
house. So much fun to serve them!
Home: A Burmese family bought
their first house, and had a large
dedication service. Over 100 in
attendance! We were invited, and
Micah was asked to give the prayer
of dedication for the event..
What an honor!
Mr. Fix-it: Here is Micah
repairing duct work for a
Burmese friend. He continues to
help men learn home repair, and
build friendships.
Grace: She loves to go with
Johanna to help teach English.
Mostly, she just plays with the
Burmese children. A sweetie!

UPCOMING:
In addition to what we are
already doing, this fall we
will be teaching a Burmese
marriage conference, leading
a youth rally for Burmese
teens, and adding more ESL
& Discipleship classes. Our
pace of life & ministry is
speeding up. Pray for us!

THANK YOU:
When we followed Gods call
to minister to the Burmese
refugee community 10
months ago, we never
expected to develop such
close relationships so
quickly.
Your support allows us to do
what we do. Thank you!
