DESCRIPTION
Each DI- 5B45 frequency i nput modul e provi des a si ngl e
channel of frequency i nput whi ch i s i sol ated and
converted to a hi gh l evel anal og vol tage output. Thi s
vol tage output i s l ogi c swi tch control l ed, whi ch al l ows
these modul es to share a common anal og bus wi thout
the requi rement of external mul ti pl exers (see bl ock
di agram).
The frequency i nput si gnal can be a TTL l evel si gnal or
a zero- crossi ng si gnal . Termi nal 3 (+In) on the fi el d-
si de termi nal bl ock i s the common or ground
connecti on for i nput si gnal s. A TTL si gnal i s connected
from termi nal 2 (- In) to termi nal 3 (+In), whi l e a zero-
crossi ng si gnal i s connected from termi nal 4 (+EXC) to
termi nal 3 (+In). Input ci rcui try for each of the si gnal
types has hysteresi s bui l t i n. An i nput si gnal must cross
enti rel y through the hysteresi s regi on i n order to tri gger
the threshol d comparator.
A 5.1V exci tati on i s avai l abl e for use wi th magneti c
pi ckup or contact- cl osure type sensors. The exci tati on
i s avai l abl e on pi n 1 (- EXC) and the exci tati on common
i s pi n 3 (+In).
The DI- 5B modul es are desi gned wi th a compl etel y
i sol ated computer si de ci rcui t whi ch can be fl oated to
50V from Power Common, pi n 16. Thi s compl ete
i sol ati on means that no connecti on i s requi red between
I/ O Common and Power Common for proper operati on
of the output swi tch. If desi red, the output swi tch can be
turned on conti nuousl y by si mpl y connecti ng pi n 22,
the Read- Enabl e pi n to I/ O Common, pi n 19.
A speci al ci rcui t i n the i nput stage of the modul e
provi des protecti on agai nst acci dental connecti on of
power- l i ne vol tages up to 240VAC.
