RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant (University of Maryland), Summer 2010 present
Thermal Management of Photonic and Electronic Systems Laboratory
Research focuses on hotspot cooling for improved performance and reliability of electronic
chips
Use novel thermoelectric cooling techniques for removal of localized, high heat flux hotspots
Build coupled-field numerical models of thermoelectric coolers using ANSYS APDL
Employed numerical simulation to parametrically optimize geometry, materials, and interfaces
Fabricated thermoelectric self-coolers on silicon in the University of Maryland clean room
Perform infrared imaging to characterize a variety of thermoelectric cooling methodologies
Established an experimental apparatus for creating high heat flux hotspot using a laser
Developed a novel method for non-contact characterization of thermoelectric modules
Lab Safety Manager, Rebuilt and manage the research groups website

Undergraduate Research (Tufts University), Summer 2009 Spring 2010
Thesis: Commissioning of an Apparatus for Evaluation of Data Center Cooling Technologies
Advised by Prof. Marc Hodes
Designed and constructed facility including computer server banks, closed air and water loops,
instrumentation, and data acquisition
Captured baseline data and calculated energy balances to determine losses in the system

Senior Capstone Project Leader (Tufts University), Fall 2009
Goal was to improve an anodic wafer bonding apparatus being used for MEMS research
Apparatus required programmable precision pressure, temperature and voltage control
Coordinate team efforts and assure quality and timeliness of deliverables
Successfully produced a prototype capable of anodically bonding glass to silicon wafers,
incorporated as core apparatus in Tufts Micro- and Nano-Fabrication Facility
