‘Going Down Slow’ Muddy Waters Reading

from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians

Love is always patient and kind; it is never rude or selfish; it
Welcome & Opening Prayer does not take offence, and is not resentful. Love takes no
pleasure in other people's sins but delights in the truth; it is
always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure
whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.
Hymn
This is the word of the Lord.
Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,
Whose trust, ever child-like, no cares could destroy,
Address
Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,
Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day. Nick Houlgate

Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith, Prayers

Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe,
Rev. Simon Parrett
Be there at our labours, and give us, we pray,
Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.

Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,

Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace, Hymn
Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray, Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day. Consider all the works thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm, Thy power throughout the universe displayed;
Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,
Refrain:
Be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray,
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day. How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze;

Refrain
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
