WOW! Its such an exciting time!
Kindergarten! This is such an important
year in your childs life and I feel so
blessed and honored you have chosen to
share your beautiful gift with me! Thank
you so much for all your support,
encouragement and hard work you will
provide this year. I may be your childs
teacher but YOU are the most important
teacher in their life. I firmly believe in
communication in anyway, shape or form.
If you have a concern, question or just a
comment, please ALWAYS let me know. If
you have a problem and I dont know
about it, I cant fix it. And, boy, do I love
to fix problems! :) Its going to be a great
year! Your child is going to learn and
grow so much this year. In June, we will
both look back and think, Where has the
time gone and look at how much this baby
has grown!
We are going to have fun! We are going
to play! We are going to learn a lot!
We are going to grow!
So, enjoy this milestone in your childs
life. Dont be strangers in our classroom.
Come anytime, come for lunch, come for
snack, come for reading rotations.they
are only babies once. So, Im geared and
ready for a year of laughter, memories,
love and learning! Enjoy these upcoming
days and months. Its going to be a blast!
Thank you for trusting your babies with
me.
Love, Miss Danielle Greene
Zzzzzz: Please make sure your
child gets plenty of rest each
night! I love seeing bright, rested,
relaxed energetic children!

-Quite fun! Each child will have their special day to be KINGor
QUEEN for the day.
We will drawa picture of them, explore the letters in their
name, create a name bottle and much more!
I knowyour child will be SUPER excited to share the details of their
special day with their families!
Attendance is VERY important. Please make
sure your child is here every day before the
8:30 bell. Remember our Specials times when you
absolutely have to schedule an appointment during school
hours.
Active - Our students are VERY active throughout the day. There is
not a whole lot of sitting for very
long. We dance, jump,
transition and move!
We are 5 & 6 !
We need fun!
Birthdays - Birthdays are special days
honoring your child. You may have birthday
parties after lunch. Please check
with me prior to the event so I can help make it even more
special. When it is your child s birthday they will bring home the birthday
bag! Read the information that goes along with the bag and have fun!
BEE Folders - please make sure to send this back and forth to school each
and every day.
This is SO important.
ClassroomLibrary - Every day your child
will have the opportunity to check out a book
fromour personal classroomlibrary. When
they finish reading it they may bring it back and check out
another one.
Class? Yes? Whole Brain Teaching is my
behavior management of choice! It is
very positive, engaging and effective.
There is a lot of student interaction
and participation.
Dont Forget to keep an extra set of clothes in your
chids book bag. You never know what might happen in
a day.
Data Notebooks - They will go home twice a month
on Mondays. Please look through these, praise your child
for growth, note what your child needs to improve on, initial
them and send them back to school the next day. It is very
important it is returned.
If I dont have them, I cant assess
your child on our normal schedule.
Thanks so much!
Easy Peasy Kindergarten? Kindergarten is not what it used to
be! This year we will learn 113+ words, howto read cvc words,
nonsense words and books; numbers, howto add and subtract
numbers and so much more! It s amazing howsmart our
sweet little ones are and howmuch information they can retain! I amso
excited to see howhigh each one of our newKindergartners can soar!
Family Involvement: We will have various
activities throughout the year that we would
LOVE for your family to be involved in.
We have a big kindergarten Halloween Fun Fest, 50s days, 12 Centers
of Christmas, & Easter Extravaganza! I will
send home notes concerning upcoming events so you will always
knowwhat s going on!
Graph of the day: Each day there will be a
graph of the day! It could be a question about
anything fromWhat s your favorite dessert
to Do you like broccoli? Ask your child periodically about the
graph of the day! This will help with our math skills, comparing numbers,
literacy and it will be
fun getting to know
each other s opinions!
Homework - Homework will be in the formof a choice
board. I always encourage parents to work at your child s
pace. I knowwe all stay busy. As long as the homework is
completed by your child at some point in the week, that is totally fine
with me. Nightly or bi-nightly? When; is your choice completely.
Homework bags: Beginning in late September/October your child will
start bringing home homework bags! These bags are fun learning
activities that you can do with your child !
Interesting books! We will send home monthly Scholastic book
orders! This is a great way to stock your home library and
help our classroomearn points. You can order online. Our
online code is located on our Harris school website.
Jobs: Your child will have a classroomjob!
They will love being so responsible and helping so much!
We will change jobs each Monday morning! Ask your child what
their job is for the week! They may be line leader, teacher assistant,
lunch helper, marker inspector, schedule maintenance or one of many
other job titles!
- Keeping your child home: If at all possible,
please make sure your child is here at school.
They will miss valuable lessons when they are absent. Of
course, there are those times they need to stay home if they are sick
and in those cases, snuggle up with themand watch cartoons and eat
chicken noodle soup. Please always send me a note so I can excuse the
absence. Your child can only have 10 excused absences. After that, they
will need a doctor s note or the
absence will be considered unexcused.
Thank you so much!

for you to come each lunch with us. Our doors are always open
