Conference Theme and Topic Descriptions
The conferences core focus would be on developing the concept of Supply Chain as a true Business Partner; and if harnessed
professionally would undoubtedly prove to be a Real Game Changer. Industry leaders will be discussing at length about strategic
importance of Supply Chain and share their experiences of how they were able to master this tool of immense power and
potential for overall business success. Some of the key areas that will be discussed during the conference are as follows:
Gazing at the crystal ball - Supply Chain road to 2020
The report Road to 2020, a joint effort of Ceres and Sustainalytics, states that The future will belong
to innovative Companies that understand building long-term shareholder value and being an industry
leader requires integration of sustainability principles at every level, from C-suite to operations, and
throughout the Supply Chain.
Supply Chain vision 2020 in perspective of the Pakistani economy will be discussed in depth by C-Level
Executives from blue chip companies who will share their experiences and their vision for the future.
Topics like technology, efficiency, processes, Supply Chain visibility and sustainability will come under
discussion.
Supply Chain gaps and their Solutions
Understanding gaps in Supply Chain Management (SCM) which to some industry experts are further
widening. This is especially true between the operating practitioners and their executive leaders who
may not appreciate the finer points of SCM due to lack of knowledge and awareness, which will be a
pivotal point of discussion during the entire conference.
Collaboration for Excellence
Sharing best practices and optimizing with collaboration
Competitive forces have pushed companies to collaborate with their upstream and downstream partners.
The collaborative performance system has proposed to outline relations among performance metrics
ranging from diagnostics metrics and synchronized metrics to outcomes metrics.
In this session we will be discussing about strategic partnerships and joint ventures of companies and
their success stories, with key approaches and challenges faced by these companies during the process.
Industry and Academia Interface
Several universities in Pakistan are offering graduate and post graduate degree programs in Supply Chain
but are they really addressing the needs of the industry? A lively debate is expected to take place when
Industry experts take the seats alongside experts and faculty from the the academia for an interactive
panel discussion.
Industrial Relations and Supply Chain
Pakistan being ranked among countries with low income per capita and literacy rates complimented
with an increasing population base leads us to an abundant supply of skilled and unskilled labor. With
most Supply Chain systems in Pakistan being labor intensive and unionized and politicized, management
faces an enormous challenge of industrial relations and productivity. The question remains - Are todays
IR departments ready and aligned with core organizational objectives to maintain efficiency and reliability
