CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education (DCE)

Thursday 18th May 2006

Time allotted: 3 hours, 9-30 am – 12-30 pm

• This paper contains 4 sections. Attempt all questions in each section


and write all answers in INK in the answer booklet provided. If you
write your answers in pencil they will not be marked.

• There are a total of 100 marks available. Section 1 has 20 marks,


section 2 has 30 marks, section 3 has 25 marks and section 4 has
• 25 marks.

• Be careful not to spend too long on a question. If you find a question


difficult, leave it and return to it later. You do not need to answer the
questions in the order in which they appear.

• Return this question paper to the invigilator at the end of the test.

The invigilator will provide you with an answer booklet.

• Write the information required in the spaces provided.

• Use blue or black ink or ball-point pen. Answers in pencil will NOT
be marked.

• Use both sides of the paper.

• Write the question number clearly in the left-hand margin.

• You may do your rough work in the answer booklet. Cross through
any work you do not wish to be marked. Do not tear out any part of the
answer booklet.
SECTION ONE

1.1 Describe what is meant by cognitive development.
