Letter to Mrs.

Tebon

This is your first formal writing assignment, and gives me a look at how much you know as a
writer. Since this is my first glimpse at your writing, please make sure to re-read what you
write to make sure it makes sense, and that you use correct spelling/grammar.

Directions: Construct a four-paragraph (minimum) letter introducing yourself to your new
English teacher-me! (You may write more than four paragraphs)

Dear Mrs. Tebon,

Paragraph 1: This paragraph is about you as an individual and student, in general: Please
include your interests (in and out of school), your learning strengths and weaknesses, your
best learning environment and special requests (like seating, tools that work best for you, type
of learner you are, etc.), your favorites (food, movies, TV shows, etc.), and anything else you
want me to know about you (like time commitments outside of school, such as practice) that
will help you have a successful year in English/Language Arts.

Paragraph 2: This paragraph should explain your strengths and areas of difficulty in reading.
Include how you think I could help you be more successful, and what types of books/texts
work best for you, and which ones dont.

Paragraph 3: This paragraph should explain your strengths and areas of difficulty in writing.
Include how you think I could help you be more successful in writing, and what types of writing
you enjoy most and what types are the most challenging (narrative/story,
narrative-personal/autobiography, expository/teach, imaginative, argumentative, and/or
poetry).

Paragraph 4: This paragraph is for you to set some goals for this year. Please describe a
year-long academic goal. What would you like to achieve by June in this class? Also,
describe a behavioral goal for this school year. Where is an area that you would like to see
yourself grow as a person?

Sincerely,
