Brocade Switch config.

Summary:
To add a new server to the brocade switch you will need to know the WWN of the H
BA on the server you wish to connect. On HP boxes this can be found on the HP Sy
stem Management Homepage under the Storage section, click on External Storage Co
nnections link and then note the HBA has two ports and each port has a World Wid
e Port Name and a World Wide Node Name. These are both listed in the Brocade Swi
tch management software you are about to use.
The basic concept is you will first create a friendly named "alias" for the WWN
of the server. Then the "Alias" is mapped to a "Zone" which contains the server
alias and the aliases of the SAN. Finnally the "Zone" is added to the existing Z
one Configuration already in use. This associates and networks the HBA port of t
he server to the SAN and will allow the SAN and the server to communicate.

- Add license to enable ports (if required)
- Click close
- Exit Switch admin

- click on new port to use in left window pane
- Click on "Enable" and click yes in pop up window to enable port

- Click New Alias button and create New Alias for server, follow naming conventi
ons
- Select new alias from pull down and locate the WWN for the server in left wind
ow pane and move to right window pane labled Alias Members
- HP Blade "virtual" WWN will not appear in SAN switches until the blade has an
OS & PSP installed. Also requires the HP Blade Chassis Flex10 environment has be
en properly configured with Server Profiles and SAN Fabric info.

- Click New Zone button and create new zone for the server, follow naming conven
tions
- Locate new server alias in left window pane under "Aliases" and move to right
window pane labeled Zone Members
- Locate existing SAN alias' in left window pane and move to right window pane l
abeled Zone Members
Zone admin, Zone config tab
- Locate new zone created above in list in left window pane under "Zones" and mo
ve to right window pane labled Zone Config Members
- Click on Save Config button, read warning box! click Yes
- Click on Enable Config button, Select Config from pull down, Read Warning box!
! switch will be 'off line' while configs apply
After new configs apply, logout and configure 2nd switch as described above.
After both switches are configured move on to the SAN storage allocations and pr
esentations.
