Subject: Release of New FW to cancel life stop and to eliminate life notice

This document is to instruct the implementation of new FW which have functions to cancel life stop of PM units
and to eliminate the displayed message for life end on C353/C650/C220/C652/C652DS/423/652 series product.

Purpose of FW
Currently several models of MFP displays the life attention message when the PM unit (e.g. IU, Fusing unit etc.)
reach the specific yield and stops printing afterwards. When the customers notice the massage, they call service
tech. to replace unit and service tech. has to visit the customer before MFP stops even though the quality still
meets customers expectation. Due to this work of MFP, service tech. has very little flexibility to arrange service
visit effectively. With new FW we introduce in this document, it is possible to cancel life stop and to eliminate
the life attention message on the MFP display. By implementing this FW, each service tech. will be able to have
initiative to manage service visit and to decide replacing the units proactively with careful watching the condition
of the machine and reviewing customers expectation of the product quality.

Function of New FW
Following function is implemented with C353/C650/C220/C652/C652DS/423/652 series product. (Some of them
are previously available on a part of the models though.)
1. Service choice is available to cancel life stop for following unit.
- IU/ Drum Unit/ Developing Unit/ Developer/ Transfer Belt Unit/ Fusing Unit
2. Service choice is available to eliminate life attention message for following unit.
- IU/ Drum Unit/ Developing Unit/ Developer/ Transfer Belt Unit/ Fusing Unit/ Toner low
Note:
When eliminating the life attention massage but fail to cancel life stop, MFP will stop working without
attention when reaching life stop value. Be sure to cancel life stop whenever setting no life attention display.
Regardless service choice setting, oiled icon will be displayed when the unit reach the life.
For the unit whose life attention message is set as No Display, * (asterisk) will be indicated next to the life
counter on Machine Management List.
The choice is effective only in panel display. The notice on CSRC, Fiery panel display, PSWC, and MIB etc.
are same as before.
Only for 423/652 series, it is possible to report the settings to CSRC center about the display message.
Turn No.8 of [Center Notifi. Item] on Notification Setting in case of unilateral communication.
3. Service choice is available to invalid the function to change life status of the unit from life to print
prohibition when any of the other units reach print prohibition. (mutual "print prohibition" control)
4. Following measures for field issue on C353/C253/C203 are included in Engine Dip SW.
- Change the temperature of lower roller of fusing section from150 to 140 degree(DLBT1001563ENxx)
- Retry SOS error in the initial operation of the machine.( DLBT0902968ENxx)
- Change toner low detection timing earlier. ( DLBT0902968ENxx)
