First aid personnel must protect themselves with all necessary personal protective equipment during the assistance of casualties. When breathing is difficult, properly trained personnel may assist the casualty by administering oxygen. lf casualty needs to be resuscitated avoid mouth to mouth contact, use a mechanical device such as a bag and mask to provide artificial respiration. Place unconscious person on the side in the recovery position and ensure breathing can take place. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. lf medical attention is required take this information sheet with the casualty. lNHALATlON Remove victim immediately from source of exposure. Provide rest, warmth and fresh air. ln case of severe exposure or if any discomfort continues get medical attention. lNGESTlON Do not induce vomiting. lmmediately rinse mouth and drink plenty of water. Get medical attention immediately! SKlN CONTACT lmmediately remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. Wash the skin immediately with soap and water. ln serious cases or if discomfort continues obtain medical attention. EYE CONTACT Promptly wash eyes with plenty of water or eye wash solution while lifting the eyelids.lf possible remove any contact lenses and continue to wash. Get medical attention. 5 FlRE-FlGHTlNG MEASURES EXTlNGUlSHlNG MEDlA The product is non-combustible. Use fire-extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding materials. SPEClFlC HAZARDS ln case of fire, toxic and corrosive gases may be formed. PROTECTlVE MEASURES lN FlRE Self contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire. 4 1 / REVlSlON DATE: 07/05/2009 ZlNC ACETATE LRG 6 ACClDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES PERSONAL PRECAUTlONS Wear protective clothing as described in Section 8 of this safety data sheet. SPlLL CLEAN UP METHODS Collect with scoop or shovel if possible to do so safely, otherwise mix with sand or other inert material. Collect spillage in containers, seal securely and deliver for disposal according to local regulations. Containers with collected spillage must be properly labelled with correct contents and hazard symbol. Wash spillage site well with water and detergent, be aware of the potential for surfaces to become slippery. Wash thoroughly after dealing with a spillage. 7 HANDLlNG AND STORAGE USAGE PRECAUTlONS Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapours. STORAGE PRECAUTlONS Store in closed original container at temperatures between 15C and 25C. Store away from direct sunlight and moisture STORAGE CLASS Chemical storage. 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTlON ENGlNEERlNG MEASURES Provide adequate ventilation and appropriate extraction to avoid occupational exposure. lf dusts are generated then work in a fume cupboard RESPlRATORY EQUlPMENT Wear suitable dust respirator if dusts are generated and there is insufficient ventilation or extraction. HAND PROTECTlON Wear protective gloves. Rubber or plastic. The most suitable glove must be chosen in consultation with the gloves supplier, who can inform about the breakthrough time of the glove material. EYE PROTECTlON Wear approved safety goggles. OTHER PROTECTlON Wear suitable protective clothing as protection against splashing or contamination. Have facilities in place to wash eyes in case of contact. lf handling large amounts it is recommended to have a safety shower. Wear rubber apron and full length gloves if handling large amounts. lf there is a risk of splashing then wear a face shield. HYGlENE MEASURES Wash at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the toilet. Wash promptly if skin becomes wet or contaminated.
