CONSTITUTION

OPUS FIDES
Fall 2013

Preamble:

Section I: This organization shall be known as OPUS FIDES.

Section II: OPUS FIDES, (Op-us Fi-day-us) Faith at Work is a Drama and Music Ministry
club that will focus on bringing Christs love to others through theatrical experience. We will
bring the Good News alive in new ways that affect all of the senses with an outpouring of our
souls to the audience.

Mission Statement:

OPUS FIDES is a drama and music ministry based organization that exhibits and literally means
faith at work. Our motto, faith at work, is driven to Faith Integrating Drama and music
Expressing Solidarity through service. We intend to bring the good news alive by touching the
senses in different ways, ways in which God's love is spread through loving service, actions, and
gifts to the community and the people in it.

Section I: OPUS FIDES literally means faith at work. Our goal is to strengthen the image of
God in not only the university community but also the local community. We plan to do this
through integrating drama and music to serve our local communities. St. Augustine said, He
who sings, prays twice. Thus, we will praise God and help bring Him to others.

Membership:

Any person who desires to be a member of OPUS FIDES must be open to spreading love and
faith to the campus and local community. The organization intends to allow anyone to join. No
previous experience is needed as long as members are respectful to everyones views and
opinions. The amount of members should never be less than five students.

Officers:

Anyone holding an officer position must attend all scheduled officer meetings unless otherwise
excused and be active participants within OPUS FIDES. Officer positions will be appointed, as
necessary, by the President and Vice President along with the E-board. Any officer failing to
meet their positions obligations may be replaced at the discretion of the executive board.

Advisor: The Advisor will be chosen by the executive board. He or she can be any
faculty or staff member, who will promote, support and attend OPUS FIDES functions
and encourage loyalty to its mission, vision and foundation.

President: The President of OPUS FIDES must attend all officer and general meeting.
He or she must work in conjunction with all other e-board members and keep the club
focused on its mission to share Gods love through the arts in all forms. The President
must work closely with the Director, House, Publicity and Stage Managers to ensure the
progression of all events and service ministries. The President is not a dictator.

Vice President: The Vice President must attend all officer and general meetings unless
otherwise excused and needs to be available to step in when the President is unable to be
at a meeting or event. The Vice President will assist the President in all his or her duties
as well as collaborate with the Director, House, Publicity and Stage Managers to ensure
the progression of OPUS FIDES.

Secretary: The Secretary must be at all officer and general meetings unless otherwise
approved and is responsible for taking notes during those meetings. The Secretary must
email all Opus members a week before each meeting as well as the day before the
meeting. Minutes must be sent to all members on the roster within 24 hours of the
meetings adjournment. He or she will also be required to get approval for events and
reserve the room or area for those events. The Secretary will be responsible for updating
the Opus Fides Website. He or she will also need to collaborate with the Director,
President, Vice President, House, Publicity and Stage Managers. In the case of donations
or sponsors, the Secretary will also be responsible for writing and sending thank you
notes to the necessary individuals or organizations.

Treasurer: The Treasurer must attend all officer and general meetings unless otherwise
excused. He or she will collaborate with the OPUS FIDES Advisor to ensure the balance
of the organizations bank account. He or she will present fundraising ideas during the
officer meetings as requested by the e-board. The Treasurer must work in collaboration
with the Director and House Manager to determine prices for tickets and concessions
during any events or functions. The Treasurer will be responsible for keeping track of all
receipts over the semester. He or she will also be required to fill out allocation paper
work and go through the process of obtaining the money from the Saint Leo University
Student Government Union, Students Services, and/ or CAB. The treasurer will also be
responsible for withdrawals and deposits into and from the organizations Saint Leo bank
account.

Community Service Coordinator: The Community Service Coordinator will collaborate
with the OPUS FIDES Advisor, E-board and general members in order to focus on Faith
Integrating Drama and music Expressing Solidarity through service both on the
University campus and in the surrounding community. He or she is responsible for
emailing up-to-date records to the Secretary of all events, programs and persons of
contact on campus and within the community whom OPUS FIDES has worked with.

Choreographer: The choreographer will create routines for productions and skits and
teach them to general members or cast members. The choreographer must keep a written
record of all routines for future reference.

House Manager: The House Manager must be present at all officer meetings when
requested by the E-board. The House Manager must collaborate with the President, Vice-
President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity and Stage Managers for all events and
productions. The House Manager is responsible for creating a committee and the setup,
teardown and decoration of the house as deemed necessary by the e-board. The House
Manager, house committee and Treasurer will coordinate volunteers to run concessions
and determine items to be sold and their prices. He or she will also be responsible for
keeping track of reservations and regulating ticket sales.

Publicity Manager: The Publicity Manager must be present at all officer meetings when
requested by the E-board. He or she must collaborate with the President, Vice-President,
Secretary, House and Stage Managers for all events and productions. The Publicity
Manager is responsible for notifying the director of student involvement and ensuring the
promotion of all events and productions on the Saint Leo Campus through the use of
flyers and posters which he or she will create and present to the e-board to be voted on
during officer meetings. He or she will also run the Social Media Pages (ie. Facebook,
Tumblr, Twitter and/or Instagram) weekly. The Publicity Manager is responsible for
creating a committee and, at the discretion of the e-board, sell ads to the surrounding
community for promotion of productions. He or she will also be responsible for
promoting any programs associated with OPUS FIDES.

Stage Manager: The Stage Manager must be present at all officer meetings when
requested by the E-board. He or she must collaborate with the President, Vice-President,
Secretary, House and Publicity Managers for all events and productions. The Stage
Manager is responsible for creating a committee who will assist him or her in all the
backstage aspects of productions including set design, technical sound board operations
and stage crew. He or she must also keep an up to date account of all students and faculty
who are involved in the different aspects of the musical productions.


Amendment: This constitution can be amended at any time as long as the amendment is in favor
and support of OPUS FIDES and keeps the vision of the founding members (see appendix). If a
member or participant wishes to change the constitution, a meeting must take place and a
consensus among the executive board will determine the actions taken place in regards to the
amendment. The President must approve the change before the constitution is amended.
