2.1 Installation notes for the version (V3.0.0.0)
2.1.1 Hardware requirements
Minimum PC requirements:
Processor: Intel Core 2 (or better)
Working memory: min. 2 GB
Hard disk drive min 10 GB free
Graphics: VGA with at least 1280 x 1024 pixels,16 bit color
depth

Please note: For large projects a computer with a higher performance should be
used. Especially more hard disk space is needed because of extended archives.
2.1.2 Software requirements
The software is released for the following operating systems:
Windows XP Prof with SP3 (32-bit)
Windows Server 2003 Prof SP3 (32-bit)
Windows 7 Prof (32-bit)
Windows 2008 Server Enterprise SP2 (32-bit)

One of the following Excel versions is required for reporting:

Please note: The Automation License Manager (ALM) V5.1 is required.

2.1.3 Installation path
Please note, that in the installation path no blanks are allowed.
2.1.4 Project template and demo project
If you want to create your own project with your power meters and switches, use
the project "powermanager". To create new projects, always work with the copy
function in the project administration tool of the project "powermanager_template"
(never use the button "New project").

The project "powermanager_demo" includes a simulation and must not be edited.
You can start both projects via the SENTRON powermanager Console. There
you will find a list of all projects.

You find further information within the online-help.
2.1.5 Upgrading a powermanager V2.0 project

To upgrade a project from version V2.0 to V3.0 the following two steps are
necessary:
- Upgrade the project from V2.0 to V2.0 SP1 using the version V2.0 SP1
(you may find the SP1 including a ReadMe within the directory tools on
the SENTRON powermanager V3.0 CD)
- Upgrade the project from V2.0 SP1 to V3.0 using the version V3.0

For further information please see the Online-help SENTRON->project settings-
>Upgrading.

There will also be a FAQ available online.

Upgraded projects only support German and English as available languages.
Only new powermanager V3.0 projects will support all four languages.

You can install SENTRON powermanager V2.0 und V3.0 side-by-side.

After upgrading please check whether the following addresses are active: state
digital input 0, digital output 0, switch output group, password protection. Open
device engineering -> configuration and activate the addresses.

2.1.6 Additions to the Certificate of License / Licensing
The Certificate of License is part of the contract belonging to the scope of supply
regarding use of software products for a one-off fee. It identifies among other
things licensed software parts with their warranty classes. The customer is not
entitled to make changes to the software. Please quote the identification number
of the Certificate of License in all correspondence.

Without the "Expert" option package only the standard views of the PM Explorer
can or are allowed to be activated in one user interface as a plant display.

2.1.7 Deinstallation
The warning Error1905.Module during deinstallation can be ignored. Delete any
remaining files in your installation directory manually.

2.2 User information
2.2.1 Hints for Server 2008 and Windows 7
You always have to run the Project Administration and the Console of
SENTRON powermanager with administrator rights. (Click right mouse button
run as administrator).
2.2.2 Reaction plans
If a digital input of a device of another system in the distributed system is linked
to a digital output of a local device and the connection to the remote device is
broken (e.g. because of a communication breakdown), the digital output of the
local device keeps the last valid state.

Please note: If the status of the digital input is changing during the
communication breakdown (e.g. when the output is switched manually), the local
device will not capture this changed status.
2.2.3 Information on web view option package
Conditions for using the Web view:
valid license for the Web view (Order No. 3ZS2717-1CC20-0YH0)
the CTRL of the Web view already inserted in the Console has to be
started
the Web view is started via http://[computer
name]/javaui?panel=vision/startup.pnl (e.g.
http://localhost/javaui?panel=vision/startup.pnl)

The buttons for accessing the online help and the report generator are not
available in the Web view. These functions are not available in the Web view.

It is not possible to configure the system from the Web view. The Web view uses
port 80 for communicating with the server. The Web view can only be used if
port 80 is not being used by other applications, e.g. Web server.

2.2.4 Information on the "Expert" option package
The corresponding user interface has to be started in the Console for using the
"Expert" option package and starting the relevant configuration tool. For this
purpose, close the user interface in the Console and start the relevant user
interface with the "-extend" option. Please note that this interface can only be
started with the relevant license for the "Expert" option package. (Order No.
3ZS2717-2CC20-0YH0)

The device configurations should also be performed by means of the PM
Explorer with the "Expert" option package. Please note that parameterization in
the "Para" editor may lead to data inconsistencies.
2.2.5 Information on archiving
The optimal size of the archive depends on the number of configured devices
and should be customized for your application needs. For more details see FAQ
Do I need to change the archive settings for a project with more than 20
devices?

Default settings:
V2.0 / V2.0 HF1: 20 devices
Since V2.0 HF2: 100 devices

For projects with many devices (>500) the archive settings need to be configured
individually. You find further information within the online-help system
management -> database and the FAQ: Do I need to change the archive
settings for a project with more than 20 devices?

The files archive_XXX.dpl (e.g. archive_500.dpl or archive_1000.dpl) within your
project are only an example for one configuration.

For PAC3100/PAC3200 devices there is no default archiving for the following
energy values:
- active energy import tariff 1
- reactive energy import tariff 1
- apparent energy import tariff 1

You can activate archiving for these and any other values using device
engineering.

2.2.6 Information on the generic breaker
Depending on the breaker used, this has to be locked in hardware terms against
undesired/unauthorized operation.

Minimum requirement: Closing has to be locked against the Tripped status.

There is no software locking mechanism for the generic breaker.

2.2.7 Information on area administration
In the area administration every device type is displayed in a column. The column
is marked if a device-specific parameterization has been made in an area for a
device type.

2.2.8 Information on time synchronization
In order to switch time synchronization on and off, it is essential to active or
deactivate respectively two addresses:

command set date / time
command nanosecond
2.2.9 Filter
The filter modus wildcard filters for internal names only.
2.2.10 Information regarding SENTRON powerconfig
It is possible to work with SENTRON powerconfig and SENTRON powermanager
at the same time. But if you want to configure a PAC3200 with SENTRON
powerconfig, please first disconnect the communication to the PAC3200 device.

2.2.11 Information regarding distributes systems
Distributed systems enable the connection of two or more autonomous
SENTRON powermanager systems via a network. Each subsystem of a
distributed system can be configured either as a single-station system or a multi-
station system. For further information please see the online help.
Please note: A mixture of upgraded V2.0 projects and projects that were created
with version 3.0 is not possible.

2.3 Information on Reporting
2.3.1 Excel
In order to run the reporting engine you have to change the security settings of
the excel sheet report.xls. Please enable running Macros and Active X. To open
the excel sheet report.xls click the button Reporting within SENTRON
powermanager.

Hint: In Excel 2007 and Excel 2010 you will see all menus specific to SENTRON
powermanager within the menu Add-Ins.

2.3.2 General
In case there are no device data in your report available, you have to update the
archive structure for your project.

Go to the SENTRON powermanager and click on the button for "Reporting".
Carry out the following steps there:

1) Click on Archive structure in the "Report->Configuration" menu
2) Enter your password (default "erAdmin"). Confirm with OK.
3) Acknowledge all the subsequent dialog boxes with "Yes".

Your archive structure is now updated.

Repeat these steps when changing to a distributed system. You find further
information within the online help (Distributed systems ->overview).

2.3.3 Protocol Types
Please note that a separate protocol type has to be issued for the desired periods
for reports with an evaluation period of less than one day, as otherwise the report
may be overwritten on account of the same file name.

2.3.4 Cost center report
2.3.4.1 Energy values
In order that cost center reports on PAC3100 device are meaningful, the energy
counters for active and reactive power on the device have to be set to "Import".
2.3.4.2 Holidays
For holiday tariffs please always select the check box holiday within the sub-
tariff which contains the holiday. Otherwise the holiday will be calculated with 0.
2.3.4.3 Tariff sets for a whole day
A tariff set for a whole day begins at time "00:00:00" and ends at time "23:59:59".
The validity entries of different sub-tariffs may not intersect and should be always
defined for full hours.

2.4 Information on device integration
2.4.1 General
For PAC3200 we recommend to use firmware version equal or greater than
2.2.0.
For PAC4200 we recommend a firmware version equal or greater than 1.3.0.

In exceptional cases the addresses of a new created PAC4200 device possibly
not active, i.e. the measurements have red background colour.
To solve this problem the user interface of the panel has to be restarted.

Before deleting devices you have to ensure that they not used in virtual counters.
Otherwise the calculations in virtual counters can result in wrong values.

With version V3.0 you can create many devices automatically using mass
parameterization. This feature is supported by all devices except from PAC1500.
2.4.2 Communication
In case of a breakdown of several devices (e.g. a router fails), please disconnect
the communication to these affected devices in order to avoid a general
communication failure of all connected devices.
2.4.3 Using PAC4200 as gateway
In case of using a PAC4200 as a gateway you have to select the certain slot the
RTU device (e.g. PAC3100) is connected to for the parameterization of this
device. Please choose in that case either PAC4200 1.slot oder PAC4200
2.slot.

In addition to that please note that it is not allowed to use a PAC4200 as gateway
for communicating to a 3VL breaker with COM11.
2.4.4 Maximum number of the participants within the Modbus RTU -
subnet
Due to physical limitations of the serial communication bus (Modbus RTU) you
can connect a maximum of 31 devices to one PAC4200.
For more details see FAQ I want to use the PAC4200 built-in gateway and
subordinated PAC3100 devices, together with SENTRON powermanager in my
application. What is the maximum amount of PAC3100 devices that can be
connected to one PAC4200?
