Dear Sirs,
Sub : The allegation of sexual misconduct of Fr. Jeyapaul
sentiments. This is to express our sentiments of shock, regret
accusations that you have leveled against Fr Joseph Palanivel
sexual misconduct with a minor girt in Green Bush.
We have know Fr.Jeyapaul, for the past three decades as a priest, working
amidst us in various capacities, as parish priest, correspondent of an esteemed
school here and as secretary of the Diocesan Education Commission and as the
animator of the Christian Rights movement
All of us, with out any reservation, will vouch for his impeccable character as a
priest and as one who had been carrying on his ministry with meticulous care
and who has been deeply involved in the offices that were entrusted to him You
are quite aware that a priest here has to come in contact with any number of
children, adolescents, family people and others and JP was no exception either.
He was the correspondent ofStAlphonsa Central Board School for seven years
from 1997 to 2004 and this school had 800 children, of whom 350 were female
children. Not a single child has cast any aspersions on hint So too, as the
secretary of the Education Commission, he had to come in contact with
hundreds of teachers, 50% of them females and all of them hold him in high
esteem for his integrity and honesty. And of course to their pastoral needs like
counseling, animating pious associations, administering sacraments and
strengthening them in faith.

Even in USA, where he had been working for 12 months in Crookston Diocese
there are any number of parishioners who are deeply appreciative of his ministry
and who are ever willing to bear witness, even in a court of law for his innocence
and sincerity. We have seen the pouring in of such sympathetic letters to
Fr.JeyapauL Even the then Bishop Victor Balke, in his letter dated, lf

Sept
2005 to the then VG, states that the allegations against Fr. Jeyapaul have been
cleared
When such is the case, we are deeply pained at the allegations and the punitive
actions that the church has initiated against him at the intervention of Vatican.
We find a deep- rooted conspiracy against the catholic church in USA by such
baseless accusations, maligning the name of the individual priests and
assassinating their character and damaging the image of the church. For us, the

We all the signatories of this letter, from the different parishes spread
throughout the Diocese, request you to withdraw such false allegations. Only
this will restore his image and help in his re-instatement You are Justified in
your sentence and blameless when you pass judgment But Fr. Jeyapaul is

believe, you do this favour for us. Kindly have mercy on us. Kindly
