COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Fourier Series, Fourier transforms, solution of linear differential equations with variable
coefficients, Partial differential equations, including the wave equation, the heat equation,
Laplaces equation, Schrodinger equation, Bessel and Legendre functions, applications in
scince and engineering.
Prerequisite: MA441
GOALS:
The course provides a basic foundation in the area of partial differential equations and
advanced mathematical methods. It serves as a required course for the Masters degree in
Aerospace Engineering curriculum.
Discipline Specific Learning Outcomes: Upon completion, students will be exposed to:
1. Boundary value problems and eigensystems.
2. Partial differential equations and their classifications.
3. Integral transforms for partial differential equations.
4. Complex contour integrations and residues.
