The Covington Exempted Village School District Board of Education will meet in Regular Session on Thursday, Sept. 18, 6 p.m., in

Former Columbus Zoo Administrator

To Visit Bradford Library Tuesday
On Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 6:30 p.m., author and former administrator
of the Columbus Zoo, Dr. John Becker, will visit the Bradford Public
Library. He will talk about his experiences with wildlife around the
world, and the 26 books he has written for children. He will read from
his books, share video of his field research adventures, and sign copies
of his books.
Dr. Becker will also tell stories about the interesting animals he
has encountered during his travels. He will focus on his beautifully
illustrated picture book, Mugambi's Journey, which relates the tale
of a cheetah family struggling to survive on the Serengeti plains of
East Africa, and will tell the amazing story behind his book, Frenemies for Life. Dr. Becker will also answer questions about his books.
This program is for all ages and will be immensely interesting to
all outdoor and animal loving people! Refreshments will be served.

Covington Health Fair Offered

Sept. 20 at GIVE Medical Ministry
A Covington Health Fair is to be held Saturday, Sept. 20, 9 a.m to
12 p.m., at GIVE Medical Ministry, 1000 Mote Dr., Covington.
GIVE is organizing this health fair to benefit the residents of Covington and surrounding communities by providing simple, FREE
health evaluations/screenings, healthcare education, and referral services.
Approximately 15 healthcare services are scheduled to provide the
following interactive services: Hearing, vision, dental, respiratory, vitals and lab work, psychological screening, OT/PT evaluation and instruction, chiropractic, foot screening, and massage therapy.
Flu shots are to be offered at cost.
Several other health organizations are scheduled to offer literature,
representatives, and referrals for health care improvement: Cancer,
heart, nursing home, free-clinic medical care, therapeutic horseback
riding, etc.

GIVE serves as the medical ministry outreach of The New Path,
Inc. (Ginghamsburg Church) by providing medical equipment and

Holiday Bazaar Set

September 17 - Mark your calendars for a bus trip to Bryan, Ohio, to the Spangler Candy Company,
makers of the famous Dum-Dum suckers and much more. Tour the factory on a trolley (not a lot of walking!). There is also a small museum and gift shop. The group will go to Sauder Village for lunch at the Barn
Restaurant, as its only 20 minutes away. The bus will leave the senior center at 7 a.m. and return between
5-6 p.m. If you are interested in this trip, call 937-698-7129.
October 8 - The West Milton Life Squad will be the special guests. Among the topics to be covered
will be what type of things we should all have in our first aid kits in our home and office. West Milton is
very fortunate to have such a great Life Squad!
The seniors are also participating in the West Milton Fall Fling on September 20. We will be doing gift
basket raffles and distributing information about the center.
The West Milton Senior Citizens meet for lunch and Bingo the second and fourth Wednesdays of each
month. Bingo will be played after a noon carry-in lunch. Friday nights there is Euchre at 7 p.m.

Family Fun Night Planned At Pleasant Hill Church

The Pleasant Hill Church of God, located at the corner of North and Main Sts. in Pleasant Hill, is hosting
a Family Fun Night on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 6 til 7:30 p.m. There will be food, snacks, games, Bingo,
door prizes, and an inflatable obstacle course. Both kids and adults may participate.
This event is absolutely free and open to the public, and marks the resumption of the churchs
Wednesday Night Activities for the fall. Beginning September 17, there will be classes and activities for all
ages on Wednesday evenings.

A presentation on Forgotten Communities in Miami County will be given by Doug Christian on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Covington Christian Church, located at 115 N. Pearl St., Covington.

On May 8, I fell out of a hay mow with a cement floor.

I fell on my head. I was at Operation Rebirth at St. Paris
where I go to school.
God blessed me to survive the fall. The EMTs and
CareFlight were called they saved my life!
I was in the Trauma Unit at Miami Valley Hospital.
I am doing so much better!
I want to thank everyone for their prayers, cards,
phone calls, and visits during my recuperation.

Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum Presents
Wine on the Rails Art Auction
I dont know about your house, but in ours, when one of us
volunteers to do an organizational project, the project gets
both of us. Im really not complaining, its Ginger that
donates more time than me. If I were keeping score of
what Ginger gives of her time and talents, she would be
way ahead of yours truly.
Ginger has told me more than once that the Bradford, Ohio
Railroad Museum is one of the best museums to visit within
100 miles of our home. This is why she volunteers to host
their annual Wine on the Rails Art Auction each year. I
simply tag along, and bring my checkbook.
This years event, scheduled for September 20 from 7 to 9
p.m., will feature one local art exhibit. And, guess who is
the special artist? Ginger, of course. I am not saying this
just because shes my wife, but her talents exceed the average
Joes. Shes not only a certified Bob Ross instructor, but she
also does stained glass, acrylics, water colors, clay sculptures,
purses, teddy bears, and garden art just to name a few.
I have to admit the evening is a fun time, and while youre
mingling with attendees, youre also helping the museum
raise capital for their annual expenditures to keep the museum
open.
The annual event features a Wine and Beer Tasting from the
Winery at Versailles and local distributors of imported beer.
Theres a Hobo Auction and raffle to help you spend your
hard earned cash. Like Ginger tells me, Everyone
in Bradford should be a member of the Museum, and help
them raise capital every year, because this is their heritage.
The hobo auction is simply a quarter auction that charges
$l.00 instead of 25 for you to take a chance for the item
being raffled. Theres also a Silent Auction and a Live Auction, featuring local auctioneer Richard Edwards.
Reservations received by September 13, 2014, are $20 per
person and $25 after and at the door. Tickets will be held at
