Global Warming: Causes and Evidences Annotated Bibliography
Dihlon, R. S. & Wuehlish, G. V. 2013. Mitigation of global warming through renewable biomass. Biomass & Bioenergy, 48, 75-89.
In this article, the authors believe that the use of renewable biomass may be an important tool in the mitigation of environmental pollution. They cited the role that biomass plays is diversified, and it is related to food production, biodiversity conservation, source of energy, and mainly it has an important part in the mitigation of the impact of global warming. The main idea of the article is to explain and show the reader the possibilities that exists to solve, or minimally, mitigate the CO2 concentration in the earths atmosphere. Therefore, the authors presented some options for CO2 mitigation as reforesting, afforestation, renewable biomass and soil organic carbon. In this way the GHGs gases would be in less concentration in the atmosphere, and then lot of problems can be avoided.
Is notable that the rising of GHGs as CO2 may cause large future issues, so reducing the emission of those gases with a more efficient use of biomass or even sequestration them from the atmosphere by reforesting are good solutions and may mitigate the problem; actually those methods together should perhaps solve a big part of the issues we are dealing now and even prevent some in a close future. Sigh, M. et al. 2013. Efficient C sequestration and benefits of medicinal vetiver cropping in tropical regions. INRA and Springer-Verlag France.
The authors, in this article, show an innovation in the environmental research area related to the CO2 cycle. More exactly, the authors talk about the carbon sequestration, and how can some specific organisms as rare plants can raise the potential of absorbing carbon dioxide. In this aspect the authors cited and explained a research in which an rare kind of plant called vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) can absorb almost three times more CO2 than other plants that were synonyms of sequestering carbon dioxide, and they could if correctly used absorb almost half of Indias gas emission in an entire year. As is known, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere attached high levels, and this fact may turn into a severe issue in a close future. So, those alternative methods to sequestrate CO2 from the air are a great option. It also provides us others benefits as a better life quality in all aspects, even in a better breathing, and generally in peoples health. (Article from ProQuest)
Wei, T. et al. 2014. Influence of the carbon cycle on the attribution of responsibility for climate change. Science China Press and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
The article tackles the significance of the carbon dioxide to the global warming; mainly, it is negative influence in the process of climate change. The paper also talks about the responsibility of the emission of gases such as carbon dioxide, so the authors divided the world in developed and developing, and then compared both in statistics of CO2 emission and air pollution by two earth system models called the Community Earth System Model and the Beijing Normal University-Earth System Model. Those systems incorporated the global carbon cycle, and with the data collected the authors compare the role that developed and developing countries played in a close past with the one they do nowadays, so they discuss the importance and influence the developed countries have in this context.
The research about the carbon cycle influences in the climate change can be very useful once it allows the knowledge and comprehension of the climate change process that involves carbon dioxide, and then with this knowledge researches can try to solve the problem. Its indicative of the influence that some countries have in the emission of the green-house gases is even more important to people awareness about what is actually happening next to them.
