Dear Parents,

This year AIS clubs will offer arts and crafts, basketball, ballet, soccer and more.
The first session of the AIS Clubs will start from September 21, 2014. Coached by
professional staff, these clubs develop students creativity, technical ability, and
performance skills.

General Information
Rationale
Through participation in AIS after-school activities, students will develop new skills
while working collaboratively with their peers in developmentally age-appropriate
activities not offered at home or within the context of the regular teaching and
learning program.

Mission Statement
AIS Kuwait inspires students to become critical thinkers and contributing world
citizens through rigor and balance in a nurtering educational environment.

How to Register
* Registration is on a first come - first served basis and places are strictly limited.
* To register, simply complete the registration form on the last page of this
document and bring it into the Activities Office, located beside the business office.
* Do not fax or e-mail your application.
* Applications will only be processed if accompanied by payment.

Confirmation and Payment
* Payment can be made in the activities office.
* Payment is non-refundable. No credit will be issued for lessons missed.
* No confirmation will be sent to you. The office will only contact parents if there is a
problem with your application.

Cancellation
If an AIS activity is cancelled due to teacher illness or school closure (except where
closure is due to inclement weather) parents will receive an SMS informing them
and the class will be rescheduled. No refund or credit will be issued for students
absent from an AIS after school activity for whatever reason.

Dismissal
All club participants will be escorted to the front lobby for dismissal. Pickup must be
arranged promptly at the designated time. No supervision is provided by teachers
after drop off in the front lobby. Students will wait with security in the front lobby if
their ride has not arrived.

Program:ReadingComprehensionSkills
The purpose of this club is to support students so they can improve their reading
comprehension skills and become more proficient in their academic work. The focus
will be to learn strategies to identify the main idea and implied main idea and
supporting details in a text. Students will participate in mini lessons with guided
and independent practice so they can apply the learning in their schoolwork and
homework. Each week students will complete units in a booklet about identifying
the main idea and supporting details, provided by the school.

Program: Language skills are essential for students to be successful in all subject
areas. This writing workshop will offer extra support for students to develop their
writing skills, specifically the 7 traits of good writing. Each week, students will have
a mini writing lesson, complete a practice activity (in a workbook provided by the
school), and apply the lesson to their current homework/academic work for school.

Program: Are you a whiz at trivia games? Do you have the Quiz Up app on your
phone and have a rockstar score? Do you always know the answer on shows like
Jeopardy? If youre in middle school and therefore cant quite qualify for JV
Academic Games, but you want to keep your mind and buzzer-finger in tip top
shape, join the Academic Games club and stay sharp. We will simulate Academic
Games matches, award weekly prizes, and have fun while learning tons of awesome
trivia.

CHIME TIME CLUB

Program: Come join our tone chime choir! A tone chime choir is a group that
plays music by working together. Each student is responsible for one or two
notes, and together as a group they create music! This group will foster melodic
and rhythm reading ability, encourage teamwork, and teach responsibility. The
club will conclude with a performance at the last meeting, and may include other
performance opportunities.

club. If youre new to gymnastics, dont be shy. There is always a time to learn! If
this is your second or third time in the club, it's a great time to practice and improve

mini trampoline, balance beam, dance elements, strength and flexibility... Each
class will end in a show and tell of the routines/moves that were practiced
throughout the day; parents are invited to come watch these daily performances!

Program: Wanting to learn how to use that new camera of yours, but havent
found the time? Come out to photography club and learn the tips of the trade! (Some
of the topics covered will be: Subject selection, Angles, Lighting, Basic editing,
Shutter speed, Focal range, and more!)

for H.S. Forensics/Debate team.

STORYTELLERS CLUB

Program: It was a dark and stormy night or maybe, There once was a princess
who lived in a beautiful castle When you join the Storytellers Club, you get to decide
how the story goes. We will become authors, and work together to write stories using
YOUR imagination. This club is for kids who enjoy writing, and want to learn ways to
become better Storytellers. You will have the chance to share your ideas with others in
the club, so that your stories keep getting better. We will start every class with a fun
brainstorming activity, and then you take it from there!

Program: Students will be engaged in various sports to fully develop their motor
skills and learn about the qualities of a good athlete. Participating in a safe and fun
environment with their fellow schoolmates will make afterschool even more
fulfilling and productive. Sports will include basketball, soccer, running, parachute
games, soccer and many more.
