The document argues that acts of hate should be criminalized for three main reasons. First, if acts of hate are not punished, they will influence others to join in and eventually become normalized in society. Second, victims of acts of hate experience long-lasting psychological harm like depression and paranoia. Third, criminalizing hate acts will help people understand the difference between right and wrong by establishing legal consequences. The document concludes that criminalizing hate acts is necessary to prevent discrimination and harm against others from becoming the norm.

A very good day I bid to all of you present here today. I am here to give a speech titled Should acts of hate be criminalized? Yes is the answer. What are acts of crime? Acts of hate, also known as bias-motivated actions, is usually an act of prejudice motivated crime that occurs when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her perceived membership in certain social group, which includes bullying, harassment, verbal abuse, insults, damage to properties and physical assaults. For example, when a person harasses a group of Muslim because he or she is made to believe that Muslims are always terrorist, then that action will be considered as an act of hate. In short, act of hate is when an influenced person does something that would offend or hurt someone who is specifically targeted. Back to our topic, why should we criminalize acts of hate? There are three main reasons why we should consider acts of hate which are acts of hate will influence others to join in, victims of acts of hate will be scarred for life, and by criminalizing acts of hate, people will be able to differentiate wrong and right. Acts of hate, actions which are usually influenced by others, will eventually end up influencing others. Like how people who share similar hobbies can come together and mingle very well, people who shares common viewpoint of hating others will come together and commit acts of hate. For example, if someone is harassing a child of an immigrant constantly without getting warned or punished because such act is not criminalized, then others will end up joining that said person to harass the same child. If this goes on, eventually it will become a norm to discriminate against people of the same social group status. Ask yourselves, will this make the society healthy? Acts of hate, which usually include bullying, harassing, and physical assaults, will always have a bad impact on the victims. Individual victims will usually face psychological disturbances, such as depression, damaged self-esteem and will end up developing hatred towards perpetrators. As for targeted groups of acts of hate, that said group will develop a generalized terror, constantly living in paranoia. This is exactly why acts of hate should be criminalized, as it causes harm to others. Why should we allow people to discriminate and oppress someone else based on their skin color and beliefs? Last but not least, if we criminalize acts of hate, people will be able to differentiate right and wrong. If acts of hate are not considered as a crime, then people will continue to do it, even if they know that those actions are morally wrong. This is because people tend to believe that if they are not punished after doing something, then they will think that they had done no wrong. Instead, if the government criminalizes acts of hate, then people will not commit such acts because they know that they are morally wrong, as well as they are against the law. Not to mention, there will be an outbreak of acts of hate if they are not criminalized. Is this what we wish for? Of course not. In conclusion, acts of hate should definitely be criminalized for they will influence others to join in, victims of acts of hate will be scarred for life, and by criminalizing acts of hate, people will be able to differentiate wrong and right. Ask yourselves again, do you want to live in a world where discriminating and hurting others become a norm? With that, I would once again say that acts of hate should be criminalized, for the good of all, now and forever. That is all from me. Thank you.
