Reflection Based on the microteaching that has been successfully carried out, I

have realised the strengths and weaknesses of my lesson and the changes that I
would implement in my lessons in the future. First and foremost, my microteachin
g was engaging and interactive as I managed to include video clips of animals to
enhance the delivery of my lesson as well as to encourage the participation of
my pupils. Indeed, most of my pupils are visual learners and the inclusion of sh
ort video clips of animal during the presentation stage made the lesson more fun
, interesting and meaningful. The video clips also enabled me to introduce some
new vocabulary or terms such as hooves in the form of graphics to the pupils. On
top of that, I managed to explain well and kept calm throughout the microteachi
ng. I believe that it is important for me to remain my composure even if minor g
litches do occur during the lesson. Besides staying calm, my voice projection th
roughout the microteaching was loud and clear and I believe this plays a vital r
ole in ensuring pupils pay close attention to the teacher during explanations an
d giving of instructions. During the closure, the recitation of jazz chant was v
ery interesting and motivating to the students because there was a mixture of ac
tions, words and rhythm. The jazz chant has really helped the pupils to understa
nd about the extra characteristics of animals better when they could answer all
the questions correctly. Not only that, the smooth transition from one stage to
another has ensured pupils to retain their attention and supported the new knowl
edge that they have just gained. Besides strengths, there were a few weaknesses
in my microteaching. One of my weaknesses was rushing into the recitation of the
jazz chant. As a matter of fact, some of the pupils panicked when they were tol
d to recite immediately after being assigned with their groups. Another weakness
would be class control. I must admit that at certain points during the microtea
ching, some pupils got their attention diverted and started talking. As their te
acher, I should not be neglecting them and a brief moment of silence might just
do the trick.

There are many aspects which I can improve on and one of the changes that I woul
d want to make is ensuring full participation from the class. Being the teacher,
I should be able to control the class and pay attention to every pupil in the c
lass. For instance, if there is a group of boy making unnecessary noises which c
ould hinder the rest from learning or interrupt my lesson, I should pause for a
moment and resume a few moments later. Moreover, I should give more time for the
pupils to practise their jazz chant before calling them out to present. Pupils
in the real classroom might need more time because the information or knowledge
is still new. Furthermore, I could give different names for the groups such as G
roup A, B, C and D instead of names of animals in order to avoid my pupils being
referred to as animals. Last but not least, I should bear in mind that for a su
ccessful microteaching or lesson to take place, voice projection, classroom cont
rol, selection of materials and many more are important as learning should be ma
de fun, interesting, meaningful and purposeful.
