Winged heart tattoo

An original design by Anny Purls for Jujube & Lolo
So your mom begged you not to get a tattoo, but you wanted to show her how much you heart her rocker
style? Well have I got the knitting pattern for you: a classic heart stuffy with banner and optional felted wings.
Make one for your mom this mothers day. Or make one for yourself...you deserve it!
Happy knitting ;0)

To make wings (optional):
1. Using a feltable yarn (100% wool works great as long as it is not superwash) and size 11 needles,
cast on 40 stitches. Knit 20 rows in stocking stitch and cast off.
2. Felt the rectangle. Cut out wing template below , trace onto your felt rectangle and cut out. Sew to
centre back of heart.
To finish:
1. Sew ribbon to heart and embroider mom (or any other word or phrase) onto the ribbon (I used the crochet em-
broidery technique) with brown embroidery thread.
2. Sew two hearts together with wrong sides facing leaving a 2 inch opening. Stuff with polyester stuffing and sew open-
ing shut.
3. Find someone you love to give it to!

Yeah, but what does one do with a stuffed winged heart tattoo anyway?
Fill it with dried beans, stones or marbles to make a snazzy paperweight..
Fill it with lavender pot pourri for a sweet smelling sachet.
Find a shadow box frame, frame it and hang it where you will see it lots and lots.
Make a few of them and hang them mobile style in a corner of your home.
