Notice About the use of Nickel
in Jewel Kade Jewelry
For those with metal sensitivities, this Guide includes information on the metals used
in our products. Historically Jewel Kade has avoided the use of nickel when possible to
increase our oering for customers with nickel allergies. However in an eort to improve
our product quality and longevity we have found that nickel is essential in creating a long-
lasting, long-wearing product. Like the majority of jewelry manufacturers around the
world, we have now started including nickel in some of our plating processes. Please note
that some of our previously nickel-free products now contain nickel. Luckily, all the pieces
that do contain nickel are surface-coated in other materials which means that those with
milder nickel allergies should still be able to wear Jewel Kade worry-free. Nickel-free items
are noted throughout with this icon

> There was a time when everything was made by hand, by artisans who took pride
in creating something beautiful that would last. Jewel Kade has applied that Old
World appreciation for timeless quality to its jewelry designs.
> Each and every JK Signature Charm is handcrafted in the JK Production Studios
in Alpine, Utah.
> Our highly trained artisans frame each charm in lead-free pewter.
> Our soldering process results in dimples in the pewter. Rest assured these are
not defects these develop naturally as the pewter cools and contracts. They are a
testament to the handcrafted nature of the charms.
> On many charms, beveled glass adds dimension to one side while at glass graces
the other.
> The artistic designs are printed one-by-one on artists canvas not paper
which makes JK stand apart from other brands, and it also provides long-
lasting quality.
> Designs are embellished by hand with dazzling touches like Swarovski crystals
and German Glass Glitter.
> The attachment rings, jump rings and drops are added by hand.
> Each charm is individually inspected and polished before its deemed JK-worthy.
> Because each piece is handcrafted, no two charms are exactly alike adding value
to your customers JK collection.

INITIAL CHARMS
> Initial Charms (see catalog pages 48-49) started it all. When Janet was rst drawn to
jewelry design, she wanted to nd a way to keep her children close to her heart.
> Rather than creating pieces with full names, she settled on the idea of the Initial
Charm because of the more subtle reference it oered.
> When friends saw her designs, they began asking for Initial Charms they could
give away as gifts.
> She realized other people were drawn to the meaning behind Initials as a way
of self-expression or showing love for family and friends.
SHADOW BOX CHARMS
> Shadow Box Charms (see catalog 26-27 for examples) are among Jewel Kades most
popular charms.
> For centuries, the shadow box frame has been a way for families to put their
most treasured keepsakes and mementos on display. In much the same way, we've
tucked meaningful keepsakes inside JKs Shadow Box Charms.
> Note the high-quality materials: all gold-colored inserts, such as the tower in
Starsh Wishes (see catalog page 29), are plated in 24k gold.
> Some Shadow Boxes have German Glass Glitter backdrops: Wish for You is a
good example (see catalog page 32).
6
> The JK Studio is a THE place to go for creating one-of-a-kind Custom Charms
(see catalog pages 44-47).
> Whether uploading your own photos or original artwork, or choosing from our
incredible collection of Studio Designs (more than 60 available!), you can design a
piece that is all your own.
> The base price varies by the size of the charm, with additional charges for
upgrades like photos, glitter, crystals and drops.
> Just like other JK Signature Charms, Custom Charms are printed on artists
canvas to recreate JKs timeless look and quality.
> Note that these products always ship separately from the order, and because
they are custom, and they fall under dierent Return & Exchange rules (see the
JK Lifetime Satisfaction Guarantee for details).
> To design and order Custom Charms, go to your Stylist Personal Website or
Party URL, click on Shop > JK Studio > Custom Charms (not available through
the Party Portal).
> Users must have Adobe Acrobat version 9.0 or later to use the JK Studio.
7 www.jewelkade.com
> Club JK (see catalog page 3) features collectors-edition designs each month that are

Hepburn, The Bronte Sisters, and Cleopatra.
> Club JK designs are among JKs most elite pieces, with special embellishments
and/or inserts enhancing each pieces value.
> Each design retails for $59.95 US / $71.95 CAN, with exclusive Club JK member

The Material
PEWTER
> Jewel Kade uses only authentic, lead-free pewter to frame each charm.
> JKs lead-free pewter consists of silver, tin, and a copper alloy which adds strength.
SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS
> Some JK Charms, like the Jade and Calendar Custom Charm options (see catalog
pages 12 and 44), feature Swarovski (swor-o-skee) crystals within the charm itself.
> JK also oers Swarovski drops like the Swarovski Birthstone Crystals and Fan
Club Crystals that can be added to personalize charms.
> Swarovski crystals are expertly faceted and polished to create the world's nest
quality crystals.
> The history of Swarovski began in 1892, when glassmaker Daniel Swarovski
invented a machine that revolutionized the crystal cutting and polishing process.
> For more than 120 years, Swarovski has continued to lead the world in crystal
quality, colors and shapes.
9 www.jewelkade.com
GERMAN GLASS GLITTER
> German Glass Glitter adds gorgeous sparkle and shine to many JK Signature
Charms, like Pinch of Luck and Forever True (see catalog pages 21 and 34 for examples).
> The German Glass Glitter comes from a small family-run company in the heart
of Germany that boasts a long genealogy line of Bavarian glass workers.
> Unlike industrial glass products (and craft glitter), each batch of German Glass
Glitter is crafted by hand through a seven-step process that starts with coating a
thin substrate of glass with a coat of pure silver.
> After ring the glass at high temperatures, color coatings are added, followed by
additional rings and coats of silver.
> This process is what gives the glitter both the exceptional sparkle and shine, as
well as its tendency to tarnish to a rich vintage look over time.
on made in america
While our Charms and Poetry lines are handcrafted in America, not all of Jewel Kade
products are made in America. For example, some of the glass glitter used for our charms
is sourced from Germany, our Swarovski crystals are made in Austria and the canvas we
use for Poetry is sourced from Italy. Likewise, we employ vendors outside of the US to
make many of the non-charm jewelry items weve introduced over the year.
10
Magnolia Metal
> The idea for the Magnolia Metals collection (see catalog pages 52-59) sprang from the
early success of the Initial Charm.
> Janet noticed that most customers were picking their own initial, and she wanted
to nd a way for people to wear the initials of loved ones, as well. But with ve
kids of her own, she knew wearing ve Initial Charms would be a bit much.
> Now she enjoys JKs many options some days she wears ve Rectangle Letter
Charms, and others shell wear ve Birthstone Dots.
> Hand-stamped Magnolia Metals include the Kate Stamp, Jack Tag, Reva Stamp,
and Stamped Initial Circle. Hand-stamped charms are each truly one-of-a-kind.
Its their imperfections that make them so perfect!
Harmony (see catalog page 29) makes a great charm bracelet! Attach Magnolia
Metals securely using the Charm Clip (see catalog page 57).
THE MATERIALS
> All Magnolia Metals, Keepsake Charms, and Sport Charms are solid pewter.
> Some charms are also oered in Antique Copper or Antique Brass plating.
> The Keepsake Heart also features a Swarovski crystal.
> All pewter pieces feature a Sterling silver jump ring.
> Jack Tags, Kate Stamps, Reva Stamps, and Initial Circles are all hand-stamped
and then undergo a special oxidization process to enhance the look of the letters.
> Please note hand-stamping is on the front only the backs cannot be stamped.

Notice about the Occasional Effects
of Brass in Jewelry
Brass (which is a beautiful, high quality material) is a metal alloy which contains copper.
When oxidized, copper develops a greenish patina and as a result, items containing brass
may leave similar residue on the skin. Exposure to moisture and perspiration are the most
common causes of oxidation in jewelry.
While the material generally does not irritate the skin and the discoloration is not
considered an allergic reaction, there are some things you can do to mitigate the oxide
transfer for the small percentage of people aected. You can coat the jewelry (especially
the rings) with a protectant like clear nail polish or Jewelry Shield, wipe the jewelry
down with a dry, soft cloth after wear, and store your jewelry in a dry place.

Guidelines for Caa
CHARMS
> Caring for your charms is relatively easy keep them dry and clean. If your
charms tarnish, simply bu them using a soft jewelry cleaning cloth.
> Charms exposed to high humidity, perfumes, and hairspray may tarnish
more quickly.
> Pewter can be pitted or stained from certain acidic foods, such as citrus juices.
> Keep your charms away from high heat sources. The pewter will melt at only
450 F.
> Store your charms in acid-free tissue paper or in a soft cloth to prevent scratches
or nicks.
MAGNOLIA METALS
> Magnolia Metals may lose their luster over time, especially when attached to a
bracelet they get dirty from perspiration on the skin, lotions, etc.
> The best way to make them look like new again is to lightly rub each item with a
very ne piece of steel wool.
> Antique brass, antique copper, and antique gold Magnolia Metals are plated.
Be sure to use a very light touch when using steel wool on these to protect the
plating. Pewter pieces are not plated, so you can use a heavier hand.
> Hand-stamped Magnolia Metals: The letters may fade over time. Darken them
again with a black permanent marker. Immediately following, spray with Windex
and wipe o excess ink.
19 www.jewelkade.com
NECKLACES AND ACCESSORIES
> The simplest way to keep your chains looking their best is to keep them away from
all perfumes, lotions, hair products, and especially water. Making them the last
thing you put on each day will ensure your JK necklaces stay beautiful longer.
> The same guidelines apply to JK bracelets, which by nature endure a great deal
of wear and tear. Be aware that while Jewel Kade has taken precautions by using
durable plating techniques, the plating may eventually wear o. Slow that process
down by avoiding contact with water or damaging products, and removing
bracelets before bed.
> If necessary, wipe chains with a soft cloth to clean. Avoid using abrasive cloth,
cleaning products or polishing excessively, as these can remove the plating.
> Glass pearls are fragile. Handle with care.
> Wash Crepe Ribbons as you would any delicate fabric.
