1. Use the Internet to find a Technology current event article.
Article #1: http://online.wsj.com/articles/tim-cook-says-apple-to-add-security-alerts-for-icloud-
users-1409880977
2. Write a paragraph summarizing the article.
After an embarrassing security breach, resulting in scandalous photos of a host of
celebrities, Apple is planning to beef up their security system by incorporating a two-factor
authentication process that users can enable which will allow them to have more control over
their accounts security. With this new system in place, users will have to provide a password as
well as a 4-digit authentication number in order to access their accounts. The company has been
slammed by the media for allowing the security breach to happen by using their former system of
retrieving a lost password where the hacker only has to answer two security questions in order to
gain access to the victims account. Apple CEO Tim Cook claims that [he] wants to do
everything [he] can to protect [his] customers, because [he is] as outraged if not more so than
they are.
3. Find two additional Internet articles on the same topic.

I ran the same search keywords Tim Cook security breach into both Google and Bing
two of the biggest search engines on the market, and found that the results between the two were
similar in format but different in content. Bing took the search keywords and brought up more
articles that were distributed by Apple and Google brought up more articles that were from third
party news websites. Both search engines worked fine and its not clear whether one was better
than the other; however, I argue that Google is the better search engine because its more
comfortable and I like the articles it found better than the articles that Bing found.

4. TRAAP your sources.

Time of publication? Has it been updated?
September 5
th
, 2014 at 7:33 PM and, no, it has not yet been updated. At the time of this
assignment it has only been approximately 15 hours since publication.
Relevance does it relate to your topic or answer your question?
Yes, the article is in direct response to the current event.
Authority who is the author(s)? Are they qualified to write about this topic? How do you
know?
Marshall Walker from iPhonefaq.org and they are only qualified to write about the topic
because the topic requires no special knowledge. They are simply reporters with
assumed backgrounds in journalism. I know this from viewing their about section on
their website.
Accurate is the information trustworthy? Is it supported by evidence? Has it been tested for
accuracy?
The information in the article is a retelling of the information given in the source article
from Apple CEO Tim Cooks interview with The Wall Street Journal regarding the
security breach. The source article from WSJ is supported by evidence because the
CEO of the company in question is the person providing the information and facts.
Purpose why was it written, to inform, sell, persuade? Is there a bias or is the material
objective?
The article was written to provide a wider range of viewers with the information that
was given to the original source. There seems to be no bias in the way that it is
written, it appears scholarly and unbiased.

5. Find two scholarly journal articles on the same topic from the CCBC library databases.
List the keywords you used to find the articles.
Tim Cook security breach
Identify the database you used. Justify the choice of the database used.
I used the All Providers database. I chose this database because I wanted to make sure
to incorporate all of the potential candidates to hit on the keywords being used. I feel like
this was the correct choice because I pulled up 8903 matches using those keywords.

6. Compare the Internet and Journal Articles
Write a paragraph comparing the two articles based on the following:

In comparing the articles from the Internet with the ones found on the CCBC Library
Database its clear that the articles found on the Internet are easier to access and more timely
than the ones found on the Database; however, the none of the articles being compared can be
considered to have an upper hand on authority because all of the articles are just references back
to the source article from the Wall Street Journal. I think it is because Tim Cook has only done
one interview on the topic and that was with the WSJ and all of the other news outlets are just
rehashing the same interview for their own ends.

7. Cite all five sources in APA or MLA format.
Specify which format you are using: MLA
See Works Cited Section

6. Formatting of document.
