DoDDS was established in 1946 to provide quality education from kindergarten through grade twelve for the children

of American military and Department of Defense (DoD) personnel stationed overseas. DoDEA consists of the
Department of Defense Dependents Schools located overseas, and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent
Elementary and Secondary Schools located in the U.S. and its territories and possessions. DoDEA provides education
to eligible DoD military and civilian dependents from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. DoDEA proves support
and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the U.S. that serve children of military families.

Alconbury Middle High School is located at RAF Alconbury, an Air Force base near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire,
England. It is approximately 15 miles northwest of Cambridge and 70 miles north of London. The high-school
facilities accommodate students in grades 6-12. The educational program is diversified and provides a wide range of
educational opportunities for all students preparing for university entrance or a career. The middle high school has a
population of approximately 230 students.

FOR MI DDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
Middle-school students who enroll and complete foreign language or high school math
have the option of receiving high school credit. The grades received will not be aver-
aged into the high-school cumulative GPA.

CLASS RANK
AP courses earn a weighted grade, which is used to determine class ranking.

SPECI AL CURRI CULUM FEATURES
Integrated Honors English/Social Studies is offered in grades 9 and 10. The following
AP courses are offered at AHS: AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Biol-
ogy, AP Calculus AB, AP US History, AP Government, AP Spanish. Numerous other
AP courses are offered via the DoDEA Virtual High School to include: AP German,
AP Italian, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology, AP
World History, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Computer Science and many other
rigorous core course selections.
Enrichment activities are an integrated feature of the educational program and include;
6th- 8th grade extended field trips and a variety of day trips to cultural and historic
sites. AMHS has numerous curricular and co-curricular activities to include: The Na-
tional Geography Bee, Math Counts, Brain Bowl, STEM, Model United Nations, Model
United States Senate, Creative Connections, Student Leadership Institutes, European
Honor Choir and Honor Band, National Honor Society and AFJROTC.
