Purpose of Post: To provide strategic, operational information management and data
handling service for the school


Salary: SO2.32 29,387

Hours of work/FTE: 36 hours per week / 52 weeks
Employment Status: Permanent (subject to 6 month probationary period)

Responsibilities and duties


1. Leading on and developing the effective and efficient use across the site of the
information management programme (SIMS) and ensure that all annual processes are
conducted in a timely way. Implement and conduct training / coaching as required. This
includes all staff who access and interrogate the information available as well as those
responsible for input. Prepare and update as necessary simple user guides for staff
handbook.
2. Taking a pro-active role in the monitoring of the quality and accuracy of information
provided by the various student and staff databases, including: calendar; admissions
information; attendance; examination entries and results; SEN and behaviour tracking
processes.
3. Being responsible for the gathering, analysis, dissemination and further development of
accurate benchmarking, target setting, tracking and assessment data for all key stages,
including the import of Key stage 2 data. Providing this to governors, leadership team
and teaching colleagues for all the purposes for which it is required in the school and in
the format required by the various audiences. This includes both academic data and
pastoral (detention, exclusion analysis etc.)
4. Being responsible for the prompt annual analysis of external examination data using
appropriate analysis software in a variety of formats that can be used to advise key
curriculum decisions, review meetings and performance management outcomes.
5. Ensuring that all third party software used by the school requiring an interface with, and
drawing information from, SIMS is working as it should. Providing support as appropriate
for such programmes.
6. Working with the timetabler to ensure that when scheduling is complete tasks such as
room allocation, the creation of set lists and the subsequent routine maintenance of the
timetable to ensure it is always current, is undertaken in a timely way.
7. Being responsible for the production of annual school reports and reviews for Years 7 to
13 and ensuring that adequate checks are carried out by teachers and middle leaders for
accuracy before distribution.
8. Managing system permissions and ensuring all staff have adequate but appropriate
access to the information management system
9. Taking personal responsibility for 6th form data, in particular that required by course
organizer and any other aspects of SIMS providing data for the annual census to ensure
the school receives the maximum funding entitlement.
10. Being responsible for the setups and general maintenance and accuracy of the data
within the school cash office programme such that administrative and finance staff can
use it effectively.
11. To ensure all duties and responsibilities are discharged in accordance with the schools
health and safety at work policy.
12. Being the named officer for Data Protection and ensure compliance with data protection
laws and safeguarding procedures?
13. Line management of the examinations / cover officer.
14. Being a member of the associate staff team, supporting other members as necessary.
15. Undertaking other duties that can reasonably be requested in line with the overall
grading and purpose of the after discussion and agreement with the post holder.
