Preliminary Research Questionnaire Results

Question One- What is your gender/sex?
The very first question I asked on my questionnaire is what is your gender/sex?
As I had to have a minimum of ten people, I decided to ask five of each sex- female
and male. This way my results would not appear to be bias and it is a fair share of
opinions.

I asked the question what is your age group? Because I can get an idea of what
type of age groups like what and how similar are they, for example, out of the
answers on the questionnaires many of them are similar. Also this means I can
design a magazine front cover and for it to hopefully appeal to the three different age
groups: 14 to 16, 17 to 19, and 20 to 22.

Question Three- What music genres do you listen to?

I
included this question to find out some background information about my target
audience (college students), and to see which is the most preferred music genre and
what would draw the reader in.
Question Four- Do you watch movies?

This is yet again another background knowledge of my target market to try and
understand what stuff would be good to include on my front cover and contents
page. Using the data on this question I now know that it would be good to include
something about movies, as not one person had said no I dont watch movies.

Question 4a- if ye, how do you watch them?

This question is a continue on from Do you watch movies? but at the same time it is
completely different to what I originally asked, due to there being a hidden meaning
behind to yet again- gain more background knowledge of my target market. This
question is designed to see how people use their technology and why they use it.
From this question I have gathered that most people use DVDs to watch movies.

Knowing what types of magazines my target market read is very useful as I can
begin to plan what to include and what type of genre will it mainly be to suit the wider
audience. Music magazines seem to be quite popular so including information about
upcoming gigs and all that, may be very useful to help draw the reader in.

Using the information gathered in this question I can now think of what to include that
will link to the social networking sites, for example on the front cover I may want to
include a puff word saying Go to facebook/collegemagazine.co.uk to win tickets to
see this amazing band at UEA!

Another question to find out back ground information about our readers to be able to
figure out what to include. In this case, talking about new release movies would
interest people and perhaps a little article talking about activities friends do together.

This was a good question to have asked because I am basically being told what
would appeal to them, and basically how I should design it in some aspect.
