No. I think New Zealand have adopted a better approach to honour this agreement in their
policies regarding Australian migrants to New Zealand and I would like to see Australia
follow suit. I believe the Australian government are basing their stance of the 2001 changes
on old myths and legends and the numbers they are touting to support their continued
resistance to amending these changes are incorrect based on !00"000 NZ citi#ens going on
bene$ts as opposed to the appro% 2&0"000 any changes would actually a'ect(.

At a grass roots level it is having an e%tremely detrimental e'ect. New Zealanders living in
Australia are feeling undervalued and forgotten by both governments. 0iven our rising
numbers in areas like homelessness" youth 1ustice and child safety statistics" it also sending
the wrong message to the average Australian who in turn is then not supportive of any
potential amendments.

I believe New Zealanders should be entitled to the protection of New Zealand+s legislation
and policies wherever they are in the world and I especially think so for those living in
Australia given the nature of our long standing relationship and our agreements( with
Australia. 2aving said that" I believe both governments need to take e3ual responsibility for
the huge cracks that have formed due to this free and fostered( movement.
