CURRICULAR STATEMENT
Constructing different dimensions of knowledge about content of blood in terms of
blood cells, plasma through group discussion, practical work, observation,
lecturing and evaluation by questioning, participation in group discussion report
and presentation.
CONTENT ANALYSIS
TERMS
Plasma, organic compounds ,inorganic compounds Albumin, Globulin, fibrinogen,
plasma protein, Platelet, Red blood corpuscles, White blood corpuscles
FACTS
Blood is a fluid connective tissue
In most animals blood is red in colour
An adult human beings has about 5lt of blood
Blood consists of 55%of plasma and 45%blood cells
CONCEPT
MAJOR CONCEPT
The presence of haemoglobin gives red colour to blood
55% of blood is plasma and rest 45% is blood cells
The pale yellow portion of blood is plasma
MINOR CONCEPT
The blood cells are of three types. They are RBC, WBC, Platelet
Transport of materials, Providing immunity, Maintenance of body
temperature are some functions of blood
White blood corpuscles are of different types such as neurophil, basophil,
eosinophil, monocyte and lymphocyte
LEARNING OUTCOME
To enable the pupil to develop
Factual knowledge on structure and functions of blood through
Recalling the terms like plasma, organic compounds, inorganic
compounds, albumin, globulin, fibrinogen ,fact, concept mentioned in the
content analysis
Recognizing different constituents of blood
Explaining the components of blood
Conceptual knowledge about the structure of blood
Recalling the structure of blood
Recognizing the different components of blood
Compairing the different blood cells
Procedural knowledge on the structure of blood through
Differentiating the components of blood in terms of their percentage of
appearance in blood
Met cognitive knowledge on structure of blood through
Recognizing the components of blood
Executing the activity as per the instruction
Scientific attitude on human body through the systematic study of blood
structure
Different process skills like
Observation of different components organized in flow chart
Completing the given chart as per the instruction
Communication through presenting group work
PRE REQUISITES
The presence of protein called haemoglobin and give red colour to
blood
Blood is a fluid connective tissue
TEACHING- LEARNING RESOURCES
Chart showing different blood cells and functions
Activity card containing questions
TEACHING- LEARNING INTERACTIONS
CLASS ROOM INTERACTION PROCEDURE PUPIL RESPONSE
PREPARATION
We had already learnt about food
particles reaches the cells of our body is n`t it? Yes
What will act as the medium for carrying the Blood
particles
Is the blood have any peculiarities to act such Yes
activities?
Can any one say how many types of blood cells
are present in our body which are they ? 3 types,WBC RBC, Platelet
Ok, Today we are going to study the structure
Of blood (B.B)
PRESENTATION
ACTIVITY 1
Teacher divide the pupil into groups and
distributing the activity card containing questions
1.What gives red colour to blood?
2.List the different functions of blood? Students filling answer on
activity card
3.Give the average quantity of blood in human
adult?
CONCEPT FORMATION
Pigment haemoglobin give red colour to blood
About 5lt of blood in an adult and play so
many vital functions in our body
ACTIVITY 2
Teacher explains the components of blood pupil discussing about the
then the students are provided with activity chart and record their finding
card containing flow chart with some missing. on flow chart after listening
Teacher ask students to fill the flow chart the teachers explanation

CONCEPT FORMATION
Blood cells, plasma are the major constituents

PLASMA ?
? H
2
O ? ? RBC ?
BLOOD
of blood. They have their own components also.
About 55% of blood is plasma
SUMMARISATION
Blood is the major factor that carries out many
vital functions of the body. For obtaining
the functions blood has peculiar structural features
FORMATIVE EVALUATION PROCRDURE
REVIEW QUESTIONS
1.What are the major components of blood?
2.What are the major constituents of plasma?
3.Which are the different types of blood cells?
4.What are the functions of blood?
FOLLOW UP ACTIVITY
1.Prepare a short notes on components of plasma
2.List out the different types of blood cells and its functions
