GETTING STARTED
ACCESS all forms at commonapp.org. The First-Year
Common Application and Stanford Supplement must be
submitted online.
USE your ofcial name on all testing and application
documents.
CONTACT credentials@stanford.edu if you used a
different name on testing documents.

book or safe senders list.

APPLICATION DEADLINES
*The Common Application and Stanford Supplement must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. (Pacic time) on the appropriate
deadline. We prefer online submission of all other documents but will accept materials postmarked by the deadline.
Restrictive Early Action is a non-binding early application option for students who have completed a thorough college search and are
condent Stanford is their rst choice. Regular Decision is Stanfords traditional option chosen by the majority of our applicants. Visit

THE BASICS

*We will focus only on your highest individual section scores across all sittings for the SAT and your highest composite score for

SCHOOL REPORT
Ask your counselor to submit (preferably online) the Common Application School Report Form together with a letter of evaluation.
Submit the International Supplement in addition to the School Report if your school uses a non-U.S. grading system.
REQUIRED COMPONENTS
OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT(S)
Ask your counselor to submit (preferably online) your ofcial high school transcript. If you have coursework from another high school
not reported on your current transcript, request to have that transcript sent to Stanford.
Submit requests for college or university transcripts to be sent to Stanford.
TWO TEACHER EVALUATIONS
Ask two of your teachers to submit (preferably online) the Common Application Teacher Evaluation Form and an evaluation letter. We
recommend selecting grade 11 and 12 teachers in two of the following subject areas: English, mathematics, science, foreign language
and history/social studies.
FIRST-YEAR COMMON APPLICATION AND STANFORD SUPPLEMENT
Complete and submit both of these application forms online at commonapp.org.
APPLICATION FEE OR FEE WAIVER REQUEST
Submit the $90 nonrefundable application fee with the First-Year Application and Stanford Supplement.
Select the fee waiver option if you are applying for nancial aid and meet the College Board guidelines. Applications will not be reviewed
until we receive a fee waiver request form or letter from your counselor or school ofcial. Forms must include your Common Application
ID number and may be sent via mail or fax: (650) 723-6050
+ OPTIONAL LETTER
You may submit a maximum of one optional letter of recommendation if there is another personnot a teacher or counselorwho knows
you well and will provide new insights about you. Ask your recommender to note your ofcial name, birth date, current school and Common
Application ID number at the top of the letter. No form is required. Your recommender may send via mail or fax: (650) 723-6050
+ OPTIONAL ARTS SUPPLEMENT
Applicants with extraordinary talent in the ne or performing artsart, dance, drama and musicwho intend to participate in and/or study
the arts, may submit (by mail) supplementary materials for review by our faculty. Applicants submitting an Arts Supplement are expected to
have demonstrated artistic talent at a level beyond what is normally exhibited by high school students. While we expect that students with a
vested interest in the arts will continue their participation at the collegiate level, an arts submission neither guarantees nor commits a student to
participate in the arts at Stanford if admitted, nor does non-submission preclude such participation.
Visit admission.stanford.edu/arts for detailed instructions explaining how to submit an Arts Supplement. Arts Supplements that arrive other
than as directed will not be reviewed.
Do not send additional materials such as resumes, research papers, newspaper articles and writing samples. They will not be considered.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST
CHECK your email regularly for updates; your
admission decision will also be sent via email.
CHECK your application status regularly once we have
conrmed receipt of your application. This may take up
to three weeks after the deadline.
CHECKING YOUR APPLICATION STATUS
APPLY for nancial aid by submitting the CSS PROFILE
and the FAFSA. Stanford is need-blind (except for non-
U.S. Citizens and non-U.S. Permanent Residents). This
means that your nancial status is not a factor in our
admission decision.
