empezado a componer nuestra banda sonora. Alberto Arvelo
We originall y took Gustavo on as t he films musical advisor. Sometime into
the project, he said he had come up with a melody that might work as the opening theme. When he
played it to us on the piano, I think we both realized that he had begun composing our soundtrack.
Alberto Arvelo
Mi aproximacin a la msica es sutil: he buscado la sencillez, he hecho un esfuerzo por no
molestar.
Gustavo Dudamel
My approach toward t he music is subtle: I sought simplicity, made an effort not to
disturb. One note could serve an entire scene. At the same time, we used ethnic elements and instru-
ments, and chose effects that conjure up the rhythms, colors, feelings of the South American spirit.

Gustavo Dudamel
While writing this music, I held in my mind the amazing symbolism that it would be played by our Simn Bolvar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela: how the marvelous qualities of the orchestra
reflect Bolvars enduring legacy of passion, love, and dedication. Each musician is a young person who puts his or her soul into every note. And this energy is not just in the music, but is the music itself.
