upload Still deducts points From: Kristin N. Stewart <knstewart@fullsail.com> Sent: Monday, May 19, 2014 3:32 PM To: Queen Searles Cc: Craft, Kimberly; Donovan, Sean; Cook, Ron; Craig, Jon Subject: Re: Marketing Canvas Assignment
Hi Queen,
I looked further into your technical issue with the platform last night. The access records show you began uploading your Marketing Plan Canvas at 11:57 pm ET. As a proactive student, its important to allow yourself enough time to complete and upload assignments to the platform. Starting the upload process at 11:57 pm ET is far too great of a risk, and does not allow a safe buffer for the possibility of technical issues. The access records also show you deleted an asset from the upload at 11:59:53, which might have caused the clock to run out of time. If you were experiencing any issues with the site, you could have emailed me your work prior to the deadline, and I could have accepted it without penalty. However, I did not receive your work until 12:31 am ET, which is 32 minutes beyond the deadline.
Because I am working with you objectively, I do need to apply the policies and grading procedures as set forth by the school, and fairly among all students. I cannot make an exception for you, but not for other students. I was generous and decreased the late deduction to ten points, rather than twenty. All students who submitted their work after the deadline and before 12:35 am ET received a partial late deduction as well. It is well within the policy guidelines to apply the full twenty point deduction. Accepting your late work, without any late deduction would not be fair to the other students, nor would it be in accordance with the schools policies.
Were in the second half of the course, which means youre on the downhill side. The late deduction will not prevent you from earning an A in the course. I would encourage you to start the weekly assignments as early as possible each week (due to the time zone difference, you actually have access to the weeks assignments three hours earlier than students in the Eastern time zone). This will allow you time to ask any questions you might have on the material, to make sure the files are working correctly on your computer, and to notify me of any problems or concerns. I would also encourage you to turn them in as early as possible to minimize potential issues, and safe guard against unexpected trouble (technology issues, family emergencies, etc.). Youre a good studentyou just need to set yourself up for success, rather than allowing last minute issues to bog you down and derail your efforts.
Lets finish up this month strong! You came to Full Sail to study the entertainment business industry, and to master concepts in the different fields of the industry. Deadlines will always be important, and so will strategically planning ahead to ensure the deadlines are met. Lets chalk this up to an opportunity to grow, and the chance to equip yourself to prevent it from happening again, and focus on developing your understanding of digital marketing tools and techniques.
