To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing this reference letter at the request of Miss Dalal Al-Bohamad, who is
applying for admission to the graduate study in Biomedical Sciences (Fall 2010) at the
University of California, San Diego.

I have known Dalal for the last two years in my capacity as a lecturer. Dalal took two
courses from me [Introduction to Biochemistry (0490-271) and Biochemistry Lab I (0496-
300)] and she has achieved straight A grades in both courses.

In the current semester she is taking from me Research Project course (0496-494), and
based on her current performance in the lab work and research skills, I would expect that
she can also achieve a high grade.

She was keen to learn and add to her scientific knowledge, along with her excellent
attendance and class participation. She was able to grasp major concepts, analyze
problems and formulate solutions using different resources. Dalal proved herself to be a
hard worker with high self commitments towards her duties, and she usually accomplishes
her work pre due dates showing an excellent time management. Teaching Dalal was a
good measure for her attitudes and learning skills, including her good bilingual
(English/Arabic) communication skills (written and oral), as well as her IT skills. She
writes a well constructed scientific essays and lab reports beside she has demonstrated
good presentation skills. In the lab sessions, Dalal showed her abilities to perform accurate
experiments and advanced laboratory techniques, and she is always keen to gain reliable
and accurate results.

Dalal proved herself to be a talented student that has a positive attitude toward education
and self-learning, an alert-mind character and a hard worker in a continuous challenge
with her self to achieve the best of every thing in a well planned time schedule. With her

outgoing character, and her ability to work with her classmates in good manners, Dalal
offers thoughtful contributions to in class and out class discussions. Her pleasant
personality is devoted always to help her friends and classmates.

By applying to the graduate program, Dalal has confirmed to have a high level of
motivation based on good and clear plan for her future. With her positive interpersonal
skills, independence and willingness to accept responsibility, she is aiming confidently
toward her goals.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend Dalal Al-Bohamad. If her performance in my

class is any indication of how she would perform in graduate program, Dalal will be a
positive addition to your program.
