TUESDAY, MAY 14 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Registration Location: Crescent City Ballroom Foyer
2:15 p.m. 3:30 p.m. Plenary Session I: Workforce Development Republican governors understand that a well-trained workforce catalyzes competition between states and within the global economy. For this reason, Republican governors across the country are advancing workforce development policies that enable their states to effectively recruit, train, and market highly skilled workers. By aligning state education and workforce programs to the needs of private sector employers, GOP governors are witnessing increased job creation and investment in their states. How can governors partner with the private sector to operate their workforce programs at the speed of business rather than the speed of government?
Location: Crescent City Ballroom
4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Breakout Session I: Energy With the recent natural gas boom, the steady rise of domestic oil production, and research and innovation in renewable and new energy technology, America is once again a global leader in energy. State and local governments have a unique role in regulating this energy production and spurring energy innovation. How can Republican governors continue these positive trends and ensure that government plays a productive role in producing the human capital needed for the United States to become an energy superpower?
Location: Chamber 1 & 3
4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Breakout Session II: Technology and Education Education is a central priority for all Republican governors. Republican governors are embracing this pedagogical shift and incorporating these resources into their education Governor Rick Scott, Florida Governor Mike Pence, Indiana Governor Sam Brownback, Kansas Governor Paul LePage, Maine* Governor Phil Bryant, Mississippi Governor Chris Christie, New Jersey Governor Susana Martinez, New Mexico Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Governor John Kasich, Ohio Governor Mary Fallin, Oklahoma Governor Tom Corbett, Pennsylvania* Governor Bill Haslam, Tennessee Governor Rick Perry, Texas* Governor Bob McDonnell, Virginia* 2
initiatives. How can states utilize these transformative advancements to cultivate a 21 st century workforce?

4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Breakout Session III: Healthcare As the Affordable Care Act continues implementation, Republican governors are managing the balance between following the law and striving for state-based solutions which contain costs and improve the quality of care. Part of this equation is ensuring that the healthcare providers necessary to deliver care are present in our states. GOP governors have repeatedly requested more flexibility from the Obama Administration to implement state-specific policies and have authored Five Tenets of Medicaid Reform to engage in meaningful, bipartisan conversation with the President. What challenges and opportunities exist within the Affordable Care Act framework for states and their private sector partners? What policies are needed to ensure that a pipeline of healthcare professionals is present to treat states populations? What solutions are needed to foster healthier workforces?
