ABOUT THE ADI-AnMBR
The ADI-AnMBR is a high-rate anaerobic process that uses a membrane barrier to perform the gas-liquid-solids separation and reactor biomass retention functions. This near-absolute barrier to solids ensures efficient system operation and stability, even under high organic loading and intense mixing scenarios. Since gravity settling is not required, higher organic loadings and mixing intensities can be employed than with other anaerobic technologies. This increases organic removals, improves biogas production, reduces system footprint, and allows for treatment of wastewaters with very high suspended solids (TSS) and/or fat, oil, and grease (FOG) concentrations.
SUPERIOR ANAEROBIC EFFLUENT QUALITY Regardless of the application, the ADI-AnMBR consistently produces the highest-possible-quality anaerobic effluent. This is a direct result of the membrane barrier and near-absolute retention of suspended solids within the reactor. This feature greatly reduces the requirements for downstream treatment of the anaerobic effluent. The AnMBR can be paired with an aerobic ADI-MBR to provide complete treatment and meet the strictest discharge requirements.
PROVEN PERFORMANCE The membranes used in the ADI-AnMBR process have an extensive history of operating experience, longevity, and high performance. The membranes have been used in full-scale AnMBR systems since 2000 and in full-scale trials since the mid-1990s. ADI Systems is a leader in anaerobic treatment of industrial wastewater and provides proven, high-performance technologies to its clients. Methane is a renewable energy source that can be collected and burned as an alternative to natural gas or other fossil fuels. Cogeneration of electricity is also possible. The AnMBR produces biogas from a wide range of wastewaters and high solids waste sources. Various technologies are available for scrubbing the biogas for use in boilers, electrical generators, and turbines. It can also be treated to pipeline quality and compressed for injection into a nearby natural gas pipeline. Generating energy from waste provides a number of advantages, including a tangible return on investment due to the displacement of conventional energy sources.
ADI-AnMBR ADVANTAGES OVER OTHER ANAEROBIC TECHNOLOGIES Can handle wastes with very high concentrations of COD, TSS, and FOG while reducing or eliminating pretreatment requirements. Easily added to an existing anaerobic system to increase loading capacity and/or improve performance and effluent quality. Higher loadings and higher mixing/contact intensities possible due to complete retention and higher concentrations of biomass. Smaller footprint. Superior quality, solids-free anaerobic effluent. More stable process due to elimination of biomass loss. Avoids common operating problems while operating at thermophilic temperatures. Granular sludge not required. Can digest waste activated sludge from downstream aerobic process. APPLICATIONS The ADI-AnMBR can treat any wastewater amenable to anaerobic treatment but is most applicable to very strong, concentrated wastes, solid and semi-solid wastes and slurries, and wastewaters with poor settling characteristics, including: Chemical production Distillery Food processing Food and organic waste residuals Fuel and food-grade ethanol production stillages, syrup, and spent grains ADI Systems Inc. has been offering wastewater treatment, anaerobic digestion, and biogas treatment/utilization solutions to industry for over thirty years. With over two hundred installations worldwide, ADI Systems continues to be one of the worlds leading suppliers of industrial wastewater treatment technologies. 1.506.452.7307 1.800.561.2831 (USA/Canada) systems@adi.ca +64.3.951.0240 (Asia Pacifc) asiapacifc@adi.ca +55.19.3561.6100 (South America) southamerica@adi.ca CONTACT:
