13/59 Lichfield Place

Parkinson, 4115, Queensland

Dear Fuller Friend:

Thank you so much for your interest in our mission to bring an end to substandard housing
through neighborhood revitalisation in Queensland. It is our belief that every human deserves an
affordable, decent place in which to live and grow. Fuller Center Queensland offers a hand-up,
not a hand-out to families with low to moderate incomes. This is accomplished by building or
renovating safe, affordable homes with those families, donated materials and hundreds of
dedicated volunteers.

When people think of Fuller Center for Housing, Queensland they usually think of hammering
nails. However, there is much more that goes on behind the scenes that is essential to our
mission. In addition to donating your time and physical assistance, we encourage you to donate
monetarily. As Fuller Center Queensland is a non-profit organisation, your financial support is
very valuable to us. We couldnt accomplish our mission without your financial contributions.
Donations along with volunteer hours take us one step closer to providing new homes for
deserving, working families in Queensland.

Apart from donating monetarily and building homes with us, we have many other volunteer
opportunities available such as serving on committees, telling the Fuller Center story to your
colleagues, church or club and organising and implementing fundraising events. No matter how
small or great the task, you are helping us build homes when you volunteer.

Perhaps you would like to contribute to one of our projects; maybe you would like to join one of
our committees or get your church or club interested in becoming a partner with Fuller Center
Queensland; or you would like to significantly increase your involvement by joining our Board of
Directors. I would be happy to meet with you and discuss these opportunities further! Please feel
free to contact me at 0421 891 084 or email me at fullercenterqld@gmail.com. I look forward to
hearing from you.

Together we can make the dream of homeownership a reality for working families in need.

In Partnership,

Rod Hyatt

Our Mission: Fuller Center for Housing, Queensland provides affordable homeownership
opportunities for working families of low to moderate income in the State of Queensland. FCH
QLD is a local covenant partner of Fuller Center for Housing International. Fuller Center for
Housing was founded in 2005 and continues its mission today to address the twin issues of
substandard housing and escalating housing costs. Qualified families help build their home and
pay a 20-30 year, no-interest mortgage. Homeowner payments, contributions from individuals
and businesses, grants and foundations, and volunteer labor support the construction of new
homes.
The Need in Queensland: In the Brisbane area for instance, houses are selling for an average of
$382,650. The Fair Market Rent (FMR) for a three-bedroom house averages at $1520.00 a month.
Many of the families we work with will sacrifice much more than 1/3
rd
of their monthly income to
pay rent for an overcrowded house, which is often in substandard conditions. Parents hold two or
even three minimum wage jobs yet are barely able to pay the bills. Needless to say, they can't save
enough to buy a home because their hard-earned income is used for the bare essentials: rent, food,
clothing and transportation. Besides, they don't make enough to qualify for a traditional home
loan from a bank. For many families, the dream of owning a home has been replaced by the hope
of just finding a place to live! Parents continually face the most difficult choices imaginable: do
you pay the rent or do you buy food?
Partner Families: Families who are chosen to participate must have incomes that are below the
norm to secure conventional financing from a bank or other traditional lending institutions, but
still sufficient for them to make the required monthly mortgage payment. One of the most vital
elements of Fuller Center is the partnership between new homeowners and our affiliate. The
most important connection between the partner families and Fuller Center is Sweat Equity.
Qualified families are required to complete a minimum of 500 hours of sweat equity. Sweat
Equity refers to the actual hands-on physical involvement of our partner families. Our families
help the Construction Manager and volunteers build their home.
Geographic Areas Served: Fuller Center Queensland currently concentrates its services within
the areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, and Logan.

Some of Fuller Center's beliefs include:
1. We are doing God's work and God's power is unlimited. With man it (the fulfillment of our
mission) is impossible but with God, all things are possible. (Matt 19:26)
2. Adequate housing is a basic need.
3. Homeownership is a helpful step in enhancing a higher level of independence in families and
building a sense of community, accomplishment and pride in neighborhoods.
4. Building community is as important as building homes.
5. Involving families in building their own homes and others' homes is psychologically,
spiritually, and practically sound.

Fuller Center for Housing Queensland:

Fuller Center for Housing, Queensland Full House Sponsorships
Providing basic housing for deserving families in our local community is the ultimate act of
faith and giving. You can provide those in need with a place to call home.
Full house sponsorships allow individuals, corporations and foundations to fully fund a
family in their pursuit for a place they can call home. A house sponsor agrees to provide
full financial support toward the construction of a house. Each house sponsor will be
given the opportunity to become involved in a familys path towards homeownership.
This is entirely up to the donor. The donor can:
Tour the neighborhood and home site with the Fuller Center family
Help build the home with the homeowner
Schedule a time for a partner family to speak with your group
Create a friendship with the homeowner
For land and building materials, it costs around $255,000 to build one Fuller Center
house in Queensland.

Fuller Center for Housing, Queensland will offer a house sponsor:

Construction site

A Real Story from a Local Fuller Center Homeowner....
I am so thankful to be a Fuller Center homeowner. After going through many transitions in my
life, I found myself in need of affordable housing not only for myself, but also for my pride and
joymy daughter. While doing our sweat equity hours we got to know the Fuller Center staff,
other homeowners, volunteers, and we overcame many obstacles. I know that I appreciate my
home more than I ever thought possible because of all that I learned from being in the Fuller
Center program. Fuller Center does not give out handouts; as Fuller Centers Volunteer
Coordinator would say, they give you a hand up. I am proud to be a Fuller Center homeowner
and pray that more deserving families are able to experience homeownership through this
program.

Love,

From a long-term Construction Volunteer:

When I first began working with Fuller Center as a charter member of the affiliate in Brisbane, I
didn't know that drywall and Gyprock was the same thing. In fact, I didn't know what drywall and
Gyprock were. Growing up in a Sanfrancisco apartment, the pinnacle of my home repair
accomplishments was changing a light bulb.

When I moved to Louisville two years ago, I made a beeline for Fuller Center and was
immediately welcomed and embraced by the staff and fellow volunteers. Every Saturday I give
myself the gift of volunteering with Fuller Center, of learning new construction skills, and of
helping neighbors in need -- neighbors whom I meet, work with side-by-side and grow to love.
The experience has made me a better person, not to mention a better carpenter.

Last month, my wife put a hole in the wall of our new house. I grabbed my utility knife, some wall
compound and tape, and yes, some drywall. The result? It's like I'd been doing this all my life.

I look forward to spending many more Saturdays with Fuller Center!

Barry W.
