This individual will work under the supervision of the Country Counsel in Korea, and in collaboration with cross functional groups within the Korean affiliate, the Regional Counsel in Hong Kong, other stakeholders in respective countries. The individual will serve as a strategic partner to the business to ensure appropriate and compliant promotional practices under statutory and regulatory requirements as well as Gilead internal policies. Take substantial responsibility for reviewing and monitoring Gilead- organized or Gilead-sponsored commercial and medical events and activities, as well as ensuring that necessary documentation is kept and maintained, and reviewing promotional and non-promotional materials relating to commercial and medical events. Contribute to the periodic review, revision and supplementation of corporate compliance policies and procedures to ensure they appropriately reflect local legal and regulatory requirements. Deliver compliance training as directed by the Country Counsel or the Regional Counsel. Implement monitoring processes and activities. Work with Gilead business conduct managers in the U.S., Europe and other countries to ensure international events comply with relevant country standards. This position is based in Seoul, Korea. Substantial travel to Gileads affiliates in Asia is required as well as travel to Gileads global headquarters in California and regional headquarters in England. Experience/Requirements: Serve as legal compliance resource for company commercial activities including devising policies and procedures, training and monitoring processes to improve sales and marketing compliance. Appropriately triage a heavy workflow, setting appropriate priorities with clients and delivering results within the reasonable agreed timelines. Demonstrate ability to think creatively and proactively, and devise solutions to challenging problems. Advance a positive spirit of partnership and collaboration with internal clients, internal legal colleagues and outside counsel. Essential Duties and Job Functions: Works collaboratively with other members of Business Conduct to implement policies and procedures directly impacting core business conduct risk areas. Assists with ongoing monitoring and auditing of commercial and medical affairs/clinical activities. Advances a goal-oriented, positive spirit of partnership and collaboration with internal clients. Demonstrates an ability to think creatively and devise solutions to challenging problems. Increasingly serves as subject matter expert in their area of responsibility, such as monitoring, policy development or training. Knowledge, Experience and Skills: Korean and English proficiency required. Must have skills, depth and expertise depending on area(s) of responsibility. Must have demonstrated problem solving skills. Must have a client service orientation and experience and ability to recognize and respond quickly and pragmatically to demanding clients. Have demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. 2-4 years prior industry compliance experience required, preferably 2-4+years of performing similar function at similar company. Managerial experience of non-attorneys preferred. J .D. or equivalent law degree preferred.
