The equipment delivered by Huisman is often the critical main
equipment onboard and its reliability is of utmost importance
to our clients. Delivering high quality products has therefore
been a key company value since the establishment of our
company. As a result, our equipment is internationally known
for its high quality and reliability during operations. It meets
the most stringent performance criteria and is certied by
recognised authorities such as Lloyds, DNV, API, TV etc.
SERVICE
A dedicated worldwide operating service team of skilled
professionals is on stand-by to provide advice, training and
service support before, during and after installation and
delivery. Our service network is managed from Huisman
in The Netherlands but our local service ofces in
Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Houston (USA) and Singapore are
on stand-by to provide all service support on location as
well as by remote access.

TRAINING
For training purposes, Huisman Global Services founded the
Huisman Academy in 2011. This Schiedam-based training
facility is used to support Huisman clients in operating and
maintaining the equipment in the most effective and safe way.

TURNKEY DELIVERY
Our in-house design and engineering expertise, in
combination with our production, testing, commissioning and
installation facilities, enable us to deliver custom-designed
equipment on a turnkey basis.

Huisman, the innovative offshore equipment supplier has
developed a range of heavy duty anchor handling and towing
systems, providing a greater level of safety, simple shipyard
installation, higher functionality and DNV compliance.
OUR COMPANY
Huisman is a global specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea
solutions. The privately owned company, founded in 1929,
has extensive experience in the design and manufacturing
of heavy duty equipment for the worlds leading offshore
contractors. In April 2008, Bodewes Winches was taken over
by Huisman Equipment, which added to the know-how and
experience in the design of heavy duty winch systems.
OUR WORLDWIDE OPERATIONS
With production facilities in the Netherlands, Czech Republic
and China, Huisman can deliver high quality products at
competitive production cost. A new production centre is
planned in Brazil which will become operational in 2013.
The complete cycle of design, engineering, production,
commissioning and (load) testing of the equipment is done
in-house. The Dutch and Chinese production centres have
a deep water quay and heavy lift capacity available. This
allows for installation, commissioning and load testing of the

equipment on board at our premises, thus providing real
turnkey delivery and signicantly reducing risks for our clients.
Over the lifetime of the equipment Huisman offers its clients
support through its worldwide service network. We have
service centres located in Rotterdam, Houston, Singapore
and Rio de Janeiro able to provide on-board services as well
as on-distance troubleshooting.

THE NEW GENERATION ANCHOR
HANDLING AND TOWING SYSTEM
The new anchor handling and towing winches are based on
conventional winch designs but have extended functionality.
The new conguration uses proven industry concepts such as
dynamic brakes and frequency controlled drive lines.
Safety Features
To meet the increasing demands of deep water operations,
several features are incorporated to safeguard vessel and
crew.
Emergency release function
To assure vessel safety during harsh offshore conditions with
the risk of dangerous forces jeopardizing the vessel stability,
an emergency release function is provided. Integrated in the
winch drive train is a water-cooled clutch unit that allows free
running of the winch drums, with the possibility to regain
control over the wire or chain when stability is regained.
This feature complies with upcoming requirements of the
International Maritime Organization (IMO) with regard to
response time and residual line tension.
Maximize permissible line tension
A winch system can be set to a maximum permissible line
tension. This set-point is determined prior to the start of the
offshore operation and depends on vessel loading conditions.
Exceeding the pre-set value will result in activating the water-
cooled clutch as a dynamic brake and quickly pay-out wire.
Snatch load protection
The same water-cooled clutch protects the winch system
against the occurrence of any undesired snatch load that may
occur during anchor handling, towing or ploughing operations.
OPERATIONAL FEATURES
Improving the operability and extending operational
capabilities contribute to efcient vessel use and part of our
anchor handling and towing winch design.
High speed pay-out
Saving valuable vessel time is achieved by high speed pay-out
using the water-cooled clutch in dynamic brake mode.
Accurate winch control
Using high-precision electric drives in combination with direct
load measurement in the winch foundation and using our in-
house load pin design, operators are offered full winch control
in all operating modes. The integrated clutch makes the
handling soft with a high precision.

Installation Friendly
Design of the equipment is carried out with low shipyard
installation costs and risk in mind. The pinned-type foundation
enables a quick and easy installation sequence without the
need for line-up and under grouting of winch supports.
Winch range
Our current range of anchor handling and towing winches
is DNV approved and covering a range from 200 to 500 mt
capacity. This range will be further extended and designs can
be tailored to client requirements.

Fuel efcient, environmentally friendly
Considerable savings on fuel consumption and subsequent
emissions is achieved using an electric drive system. With
a 30% higher efciency and use of regenerative energy,
signicant cost savings are made.
Larger storage capacity
As a result of a more compact winch design, larger drum
storage capacities are offered at the same footprint on the
vessel. Alternatively a smaller winch set can installed possibly
resulting in an overall smaller vessel beam. This results in
lower fuel consumption in transit.
