Projection for the Future I am most honored to be nominated again to run re-election

Projection for the Future

I am most honored to be nominated again to run re-election to the University Council for the seat of 1 Full-time Employee (non- teacher) of the University. I wish to solicit your continuous support so that I can realize my obligations to serve the whole HKU community again. Among many other issues, I am determined to put the following on the top of my priority list.

1 PRSD

» To review the existing appeal system of PRSD;

2 One-off Bonus

» To urge for increase of funding for awards;

» To urge for equitable and clear guidelines to deans (or officers in administrative departments) in determining awards

3 Medical Benefits

» To urge for more resources to improve staff medical benefits taking into consideration the following;

» the outdated Gazetted ceiling of coverage for the Staff Medical Benefit Scheme;

» the ever increasing rates of charging and/or co-payment on basic drugs, medical/dental services;

» the restriction on retired and temporary staff to benefit from the Outside Panel Doctors Scheme

» To urge for thorough consultation in the current review of provision of staff medical benefits;

» To remind the University not to bring detriments to the current level of staff medical benefits

Extension of retirement age from 60 to 65

» Other universities in Hong Kong, e.g. HKUST, and CityU are adopting retirement age at 65;

» To continue to strive for extending the retirement age from 60 – 65.

Effective communication between University administration and staff

» To promote effective dialogue between University administration and staff;

» To promote mutual trust and dual respects between University administration and staff;

» To arrange staff sharing sessions between University administration

and staff in exchange of views and suggestions on formulation and/or promotion of University policies

Staff Grievances

» To continue to listen to staff grievances

and to assist them to resolve their “grievances” without referring to the Grievances Panel for arbitration as far

as possible;

» To continue to give advice to staff about the procedures to make a

complaint to the Grievances Panel if necessary

Staff Development

» To urge for increase of funding for subsidies to staff to pursue professional and continuing education

支持,使我能繼續為港大全體師生員工服務。以下各項是我的 工作重點:

1 工作表現檢討和員工發展PRSD

» 檢討現時週年工作評核的上訴機制

2 一次過獎金One-off Bonus

» 要求增加撥款作發放一次過獎金用途;

» 要求給學院院長(或有關行政部門的主管)清晰公平的指

引作為評定發放獎金的標準

3 改善醫療福利

» 基於下列各點,要求增撥資源改善員工的醫療福利:

» 各項過時的員工醫療保障額;

» 各項不斷上漲的醫療收費;

» 附加醫療保險費用不斷攀升;

» 退休和臨時員工不能享用校外醫生服務;

» 要求在進行中醫療福利檢討時,必以廣泛而深入地諮詢

員工為基本步驟

» 明確聲明檢討決不能以減損現有的福利為結果

4 法定退休年齡由60歲延至65歲

» 其它大學如:科大、城大等員工的法定退休年齡為65歲

» 繼續爭取員工的法定退休年齡由60歲延至65歲

5 管理層與員工的有效溝通

» 推動管理層與員工進行有效溝通;

» 推動增進管理層與員工的互信和尊重;

» 安排分享會讓管理層和員工就大學制定或推行重要政策

時交流意見

6 處理員工的申訴

» 聽取員工申訴並協調尋求申訴小組訟裁以外的解決方法;

» 按情況需要提供及協助尋求申訴小組訟裁的程序

7 員工發展

» 要求增撥資助確保員工在專業和持續進修上獲得充份的

資助
