candidates would *e done simultaneously alon# with evaluation of their -ualifyin# papers on
=Indian 0an#ua#es> and =En#lish> *ut the papers on =Essay>& "eneral 'tudies and 7ptional 'u*)ect
of only such candidates will *e taken co#ni.ance of who attain such minimum standard as may *e
fixed *y Commission at their discretion for the -ualifyin# papers on =Indian 0an#ua#e> and
=En#lish>. 1iv2 arks o*tained *y the candidates for the %aper I:II only will *e counted for merit
rankin#. However& the Commission will have the discretion to fix -ualifyin# marks in any or all of
these papers.

$3TE 1i2 The -uestion papers for the examination will *e of conventional 1essay2 type. 1ii2Each
paper will *e of three hours duration. 1iii2 Candidates will have the option to answer all the
-uestion papers& except the 5ualifyin# 0an#ua#e papers %aper; and %aper,& in any of the
lan#ua#es included in the Ei#hth 'chedule to the Constitution of India or in En#lish. 1iv2
Candidates exercisin# the option to answer %apers in any one of the lan#ua#es mentioned a*ove
may& if they so desire& #ive En#lish version within *rackets of only the description of the technical
terms& if any& in addition to the version in the lan#ua#e opted *y them. Candidates should&
however& note that if they misuse the a*ove rule& a deduction will *e made on this account from
the total marks otherwise accruin# to them and in extreme cases/ their script1s2 will not *e valued
for *ein# in an unauthori.ed medium. 1v2 The -uestion papers 1other than the literature of
lan#ua#e papers2 will *e set in Hindi and En#lish only.
