CAFOD HARVEST FAST DAY Friday, 3
rd
October. CAFOD is the official
overseas aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, as always
they ask for your support to help them raise money for people in desperate
need. Your Fast Day envelopes are attached to the bulletin, please return to
Church next weekend by placing the envelope in the offertory collection bags.

PARISH MISSION
You are warmly invited to share in a fortnight of celebration, prayer and renewal with the Parish
and the Sion Catholic Community for Evangelism.
Programmes, Prayer cards and Scripture leaflets are available in the Church porches.
Week One (Saturday, 27

October) is Visiting week
Week Two (Saturday, 4th Sunday, 11

October) is Celebration Week.
In Week Two there will be an Early Bird quiet Mass at 7.00am each day,
and our Mission Service at 7.00pm.
Please pick up a copy of the programme for full details of the
Mass times and Services over the next two weeks.

MISSION THEME Fan into a flame the gift of God. The key aspects that will be covered across
Mission week are:
The gift we are in the Father
The gift of Jesus
The gift of Forgiveness
The gift of the Holy Spirit
Being gift to others is our Mission

MISSION VISITING WEEK The Mission Visiting Team are visiting the Parish this week, you may
get a call at your door!
MISSION PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we thank you for sending your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to reveal
your unconditional love for us, and for pouring out your Holy Spirit upon the Church.
May that gift of the Spirit that dwells within each one of us be fanned into a flame so
that we may have a burning love for you and for our neighbour. Help each of us to play
our part in making our parish a place of welcome, where people may experience your
healing grace and be empowered to bear witness to your love for all. We ask this
through Christ our Lord, Amen.

MISSION SERVICE OF THANKSGIVING During the Parish Mission there will be a special
service of thanksgiving at Our Lady of Peace, on Sunday, 5
th
October at 4.00pm, to which all in
Parish Ministry are invited: Parish Secretary, Parish Evangelisation Team, Adult Altar Servers,
SVP, Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Money Counters, RCIA Leaders, Sacramental Programme
Leaders, Flower Arrangers, Church and Linen Cleaning Teams, Musicians and Choir members,
PPC members, APC members, Catholic Womens League, Youth Leaders (Charlie's Angels),
London Run Organisers, Sacristans, Tea and Coffee Team, Our Lady of Peace Infant and
Junior School staff and Governors. Each group is invited to bring a symbol of their ministry. The
service will be followed by refreshments.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP The next meeting will be on Saturday, 4

DIOCESAN JUSTICE AND PEACE CONFERENCE : 4
TH
OCTOBER one day Diocesan Justice
and Peace conference on 4
th
October at Holy Family, Langley starting at 10.00am with coffee
and registration. Our speakers are Canon James Cronin (APF), who will be speaking on the
Plight of persecuted Christians around the world and David McLoughlin (Newman College,
Birmingham) speaking on Justice in the Gospels. There will be a chance to meet and chat to
others involved in Justice and Peace around the Diocese. The conference is open to all and
those attending are asked to bring something for a shared lunch.

ST THOMAS BECKET On the 8
th
October 1164 Thomas Becket was tried and convicted in
Northampton Castle. 2014 marks the 850
th
anniversary of this event. To mark this important
anniversary Bishop Peter will be celebrating Mass in the Cathedral at 7.30pm on Friday, 10
th

October.















LONDON AND SLOUGH RUN Get your running shoes on! Local homeless Charity, The
London and Slough Run are organising a 5k fun run and 10k race at Olympic venue Dorney
Lake on 26
th
October at 10.30am. All proceeds go to the Slough Winter Nightshelter. Please take
a flyer from the porch to help promote the event at work, down the Gym or with friends and

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2015
If your child is in Year 3, and you wish your child to receive their First Holy
Communion in May 2015, you will need to enrol them on the First Holy Communion
programme. The First Holy Communion classes will begin in January 2015 and will
be held at St Andrews on Saturday mornings. The first enrolment date will be on
Thursday, 16
th
October between 3.30pm and 5.00pm, the second date will be
Thursday, 24
th
October between 6.00pm and 7.00pm. They will both be held in the
Sacristy at Our Lady of Peace Church. Parents will need to complete an
enrolment form which will be available on the enrolment date. You will also need to
bring with you a copy of the childs Baptism certificate: if you cannot find it, you will
need to contact the Parish where your child was Baptised and obtain it before the
enrolment meeting.
