CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION
Nowadays the technology has developed and grows up very fast. The technology has changed
our life became easier. Usually the people wash the hand by manual and bacteria will infection to
our when the people touch the pipe. Now the technology is apply when wash the hand where we
call it an Automatic Hand Wash. This machine became our trend where it made during our wash
the hand easier and clean.
The machines have control the water, soap, and dryer in automatically. This project can get
publicity from people because it more to easier when use it. These machines perform the wash
and increase hand washing compliance better than manual hand washing methods.
This machine is designed to combine three functions in one device which it more systematic and
particular. This project will reduce the usage of water because all of the washer hand will be an
automatically.

OBJECTIVE
Everything in the world is done on the objectives that have been set earlier. Without the
objectives, the previous might drift away from the right track during the project management.
This project focuses on the following three (3) objectives:
1. To limit the used of water and soap for avoid wastage
2. Facilitate hand wash process without touch the water pipe
3. Accelerate hand wash process without take a long time

2

PROBLEM STATEMENT
1. Wasteful used of the water and soap during hand wash process
2. The touching of the pipe during hand wash process, complicate for users
3. Hand wash process take long time because the position water, soap, and dryer cannot at
same position ( not combined )

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
Besides setting up the objectives of the project, the scopes of the project should be setting
up earlier. The purpose of setting up the project from begin the project is because to make sure
that the project is done according to the specifications that have been desired before. The scopes
of the project are:
1. Built a circuit for:

a. Power supply circuit
b. Infrared sensor circuit ( water, soap, dryer )
c. Control motor circuit
2. Hardware design and build the project

LITERATURE REVIEW

Overview
This chapter reviews existing project created to get an idea about the project design, conception
and any information that related to improve the project. This chapter also explains and discuss
about source or article that related to the project. It is consist of the products that have been
appeared in the market nowadays. This chapter is also contained the theory of the components,
equipments and programming that is used in the project.

Previous Project
Nowadays, we already have a lot of technologies of an automatic hand washer and dryer
machine. So, there are some researches about the types of an automatic hand washer and dryer
machine to be used as a guideline in developed the machine for this project. Here, got few last
technologies that people out there use for their automatic hand washer and dryer machine.

2.1 Automatic Sensor Activated Hand Dryers

This is a fully Automatic Hand Dryers are activated by an infrared sensor when hands are placed
under the air outlet. When the users hands off an automatic hand dryer utilize a maintenance-
free brushless motor, capacitor initiated for quick starts. The features include tamper proof bolts
and a side mounted heating element which makes the heating element inaccessible through the
air outlet. When the control assembly is activated by an infrared optical sensor located next to
the air outlet. The dryer shall operate as long as hands are moving under the air outlet. There is a
90 second lockout feature if hands are not removed.

2.2 Automatic Hand Soap Dispenser

Figure 2.2: Automatic Hand Soap Dispenser
This automatic hand soap dispenser use motion sensor to release soap. The sensor active the
pump when it detects movement or placed the hand under soap outlet. This automatic shall
operate as long as hand are moving under the soap outlet with counting active pump output soap
2 time.

METHODOLOGY

In this topic, we need to describe briefly the methods or procedures used to carry out the
project, the suitability of the latest technology, including software that will be used. This topic
tells how we conduct the project started semester (June 2013) as it contains a flow chart of the
overall project implementation, a flow chart of the test circuit / software and research data, Gantt
charts, a block and the operation of the circuit.

3.1 Introduction

This chapter consists five main parts: the project planning part for the process flow, the
planning for the hardware structure, the hardware implementation and the software
implementation parts.

3.6 Description Circuit

The infrared proximity sensor is intended for the recognition of obstructions at distances of a few
millimeters to a few centimeters. In our circuit, the proximity sensor assembly is built from a
infrared light emitting diode and a photo transistor .A relay at the output of the circuit enables
larger dc or ac mains operated loads (for example, the motor pump water and air hot blower) to
be switched.
At the circuit is one renowned phase locked loop tone decoder chip (LM567).When the pulsed
infrared light signal from D1 is reflected by a nearby object, phototransistor T2 -through T3-
provides a signal to pin 3 of IC LM567. If the signal frequency lies within the same band as that
of the internal generator, output terminal (pin8) of IC1 is connected to earth, where upon LED in
the relay lights (on) and the relay is energised.
