Constant Velocity:
1. (3pts)Calculate the velocity of a bowling ball that moves 8 meters in 4
seconds at a constant rate.

2. (3pts)If a car travels at a constant velocity of 30 m/s for 3 seconds, what
distance will it travel?

Constant Acceleration:
3. (6pts)A jogger accelerates from rest to 5 meters per second in 2 seconds. A
car accelerates from 37 to 42 meters per second in 2 seconds.
a. Find the magnitude of the acceleration of the jogger.
b. Find the magnitude of the acceleration of the car.
c. Does the car travel further than the jogger during those 2 seconds? If
so how much further? If not, why not?

Free Fall:
4. (3pts)Initially at rest, a teacup falls freely from a balcony 60 meters high.
How many seconds will it take to hit the ground?

5. (3pts)A volleyball hit straight up in the air has an initial velocity of 30 m/s as
it leaves the players hands. How much time will pass between the
volleyball leaving the players hands and the velocity reaching zero velocity
at the highest point?

Projectile Motion:
6. (2pts)A man is shot out of a cannon at 35 m/s at a 60 degree angle above
the horizontal.
a. What is the horizontal component of his velocity (Vx)?
b. What is the vertical component of his velocity (Vy)?
c. How many seconds till he reaches his maximum height?
d. What is the maximum height the man attains?

7. (2pts)Harry and Angela look from their balcony to a swimming pool below
that is 16 m horizontally away from the bottom of their building. They
estimate the balcony is 80 m high and wonder how fast they would have to
jump horizontally to succeed in reaching the pool. If they jump horizontally
what would their initial velocity have to be to make it to the pool?

8. (2pts) A bear leaps off of a cliff and does a leaping dive into the pool. The bear
has an initial velocity of 14 m/s at an angle of 30 above the horizontal. The cliff is
50 meters high and the pool is still 35 meters from the base of the cliff.

Answer Questions (a through f for this)
a) What is the horizontal component of its initial velocity?
b) What is the vertical component of its initial velocity?
c) How much time will it take to reach maximum height?
d) What is the maximum height it reaches (dont forget to add cliff height)?
e) What is the total time it is in the air (from cliff to pool)?
f) What was the range the bear traveled horizontally (distance between cliff
base and landing point in pool)?
