2009 Tax Information
To ensure your contributions qualify for 2009, checks must be
delivered or mailed (post-marked) on or before December 31, 2009.
Checks placed in the church offering in 2010 will not qualify for
2009, even if the check is pre-dated to 2009. For your convenience,
the church finance office will be open Thursday, December 31,
2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Please do not file your 2009
tax return until you have received your 2009 contribution statement
from the church.

2009 Stock Contributions

Stock contributions in certificate form must be recieved in the
finance office no later than noon on December 30, 2009. Stock
contributions in transfer form must be received into the church’s

Encouragement Group for People with Cancer,
any Major Illness, or Critical Setback in Life

The words of the 23rd Psalm have brought more comfort and courage to
more people than any other words ever written. When you combine its
comfort and courage, then hope is generated; and hope is an essential and
valuable resource to help anyone suffering from cancer or from any major
illness or setback in life.

Series will begin Thursday, January 14 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

a video segment will be shown followed by discussion and prayer.

Involved In LCT 2009
I’d like to take this opportunity to THANK EVERYONE who participated in
LCT 2009. It was a tremendous joy for us to present “The Christmas Post,” and to
see God work in a unique way in the hearts and lives of those who attended. God
blessed us with 160+ people who indicated that they prayed to receive Christ as
their personal Lord and Savior. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! Hallelujah!!!
I’m sure that many other spiritual decisions were made as a result of this
effort. I’m amazed each year to see so many people giving so much time and
energy because they want to influence others for the Gospel. May we continue
to offer our lives to the Lord and continue to reach out to our community through
this ministry. Bless the Lord!!

Volunteer
Champions
Have you led a
program/
business/ministry?
Please consider using your expertise to lead one of our many ministries. Volunteer Champions are
being sought, to coordinate/lead many ministries within the church. A champion can be either an
individual or a couple, and a church member.
CROWN MINISTRY
Crown Ministry teaches biblical principles regarding finances and possessions. The champion
should have a heart to help others learn these principles and to help people in financial crisis. The
champion will:
 Recruit leaders and counselors
 Schedule events throughout the year
 Recruit class members

The weekly time commitment would vary but is estimated to average five hours per week. This
champion can be a seasonal resident.

Watch for other champion needed in the weeks ahead.

 Benevolence Fund
Our Benevolence Fund is low. The Church Benevolence Committee helps people
in financial crisis each week. Many of our own church members are out of work
and hurting financially. Can you help? If so, please make out your check to First

A Christmas Greeting from
the Pastor and Family
 Dear Church Family,
The Wickers want to thank you for the privilege
of serving in one of the world’s greatest
churches. With the busy pace of life, it is easy for
all of us to forget God’s good gifts. At this time
of the annual celebration of Jesus’ birthday, it is
good for all of us to review God’s blessings this
past year and renew our desire to glorify Him.
I am incredibly privileged to work with a
Christian All-Star team of pastoral staff and
servant-minded support staff. They have been
“helpers of many and of myself as well,” “fellow
workers in Christ Jesus,” and are those who have
“worked hard for you” (Romans 16:2-3, 6 & 8).
They are highly gifted. They go “the second mile”
for you and for Him. They have crunched their
budgets and tightened their belts during fiscal
challenges, and worked without complaint and
further material reward. Do not forget to thank
them this season and wish them well.
Janet and I are thrilled to have raised our
children in a happy church that loves and affirms
them. All three of our children love Christ and
the local church, and have unique callings of
eternal impact. Kristin and Eric have just been
called to the Temple Terrace Baptist Church in
Tampa where he will lead in worship and music.
They will bring their passion for discipleship into
a ministry that is already fruitful, serving with
Pastor Jeff Williams. We are thrilled that Mary
Grace and Abby will be closer to us. Little Abigail
Joy was born on December 27 last year. So much
has happened since this time in 2008! Mary
Grace continues to delight us with her strong,
vivacious personality.
Evan was licensed to the gospel ministry
recently by our church and will receive his
certificate when he is home. He transferred
from Southeastern to Southern Seminary for his
master’s degree and continues preparation for
missions. He was called to be a full-time Program
Director for the Crossings Camps in Kentucky.
He is working very hard and hoping to find more
time for school. He manages to teach a Sunday
School class at his church.
Allyson is a sophomore at Cedarville University
and has a deep passion to minister to orphans.
She is pursuing an early elementary education
degree. She has been driving to Columbus, Ohio
each week to teach a Sunday School class of girls
and has a wide range of friends. She spreads
sunshine everywhere she goes!
Thank you for your prayerful support of Janet
this past year as she continues to teach in
Refresher Women’s Bible Study. She ministered
to hundreds and hundreds of pastor’s wives in
the poor areas of India and Nigeria. God has
given her a unique burden to help widows in
Africa, and especially those who are pastor’s
wives and are destitute. I am so grateful for
our 34 years together, as we celebrate our
anniversary on December 27th.
Serving with and for you is the highlight of our
many years in pastoral ministry. While we are
grateful for this past year’s blessings, we expect
that the best is yet to come in 2010. We will
claim the reality of our Emmanuel (“God with
us”) this season and in the months to come. We
rejoice that, “If God is for us, who can be against
us” (Romans 8:31)? Because God came to us
that first Christmas and is for us, He will work
in us. Remember the challenge of Max Lucado:
“When you admit that you have no other option
but to cast all your cares on Him, He is waiting in
the midst of the storm.”

First Steps Class
A First Steps Class for children in 1st through 4th
grades who would like to get baptized will begin
on Saturday, January 9th at 7:30pm. This 4 week
class covers the topics of salvation, baptism,
communion, being a part of the church, and
growing as a child of God. Please contact the

workbook to begin working in.
