This is a great evaluation by a Y12 girl at Latymer school. It is thorough,
considered and well written. She has answered each of the 7 questions
separately and in detail. Look and learn !
5. Atleast one 2 hour meeting scheduled with your group over the Easter

Q1
In what ways does your media product USE, DEVELOP or CHALLENGE
forms and conventions of real media products?
• What genre/genres is your film based around? What aspects of this genre does
your film include?
• What are the main themes in your film and how are each of these seen in the
opening sequence
• Make notes as a group on each of these below. You need to complete your
presentations next term

why?
• Research and understand how films are distributed. We did some work on this
for Section B of your exam. The links below have useful info on this.

distributing you films.
• Look at their websites and research their distribution processes

• Create a profile of your target audience in terms of age, interests, gender and
ethnicity
• Why did you choose to target this group?
• What other films would your target audience be interested in watching? What
films do you think they may have seen in the last six months?
Q5
How did you attract/address your audience?
• Analyse your film posters – where would these posters be seen? Refer to
specific spaces and publications – and why these would be appropriate for
your film and your target audience
• Do a detailed textual analysis of your entire opening sequence including
the credits
• Include a variety of examples (cover all technical aspects – camera,
editing, sound, all mise en scene elements) and explain how each one
addresses your audience and aims to keep them interested
• What prior knowledge of a particular genre would you expect your
audience to have? How can you make use of this to attract them to your
film?
• How do the themes you have chosen attract your audience? How would
your audience relate to these themes? Refer to other successful films
which have also addressed similar themes
Q6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this
product?
• In detail list all the hardware you used – camera & sound kit – and what you
learnt about how and why you need to use each piece of equipment (you need
Liz’s handbook for this )
• Do the same with editing software
• List all the filming techniques you learnt and used while filming
• Now list all the editing techniques you learnt and explain how you used this in
your work.
• What are the key lessons you learnt while using the technology and
equipment.
Q7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full product?
