Following
back-to-back
appearances
at State C...

Said Raiders senior

star, Whitney Molina, on
Wednesday, March 12,
2014 to KRTV News: I
think its cool that were
going to state with 20
kids in our high school
and were able to compete
with these bigger Class
C schools that have over
100 kids in their school.
So to be able to have the
six girls and know that
we can compete at state.
Thats pretty cool.
On Thursday night,
March 13th in Hamilton,
the Raiders beat WinnettGrass Range. On Friday
night, March 14th the
Raiders beat Shields
Valley to advance to the
State C Championship
on Saturday, March
15th. They would fall
to Belt, though, making
it the Huskies third

The Hinsdale Raiders suffered just three setbacks in the 2013-14 season, losing the state title
game to Belt and a pair to 3-C rival Saco-Whitewater (who also made it to state as Divisional
runnerup this past season). This season the Hinsdale girls will be joining the Panthers.

consecutive state title

(and who have placed
no lower than 4th since
2008).
So, after a 4th place
finish in 2013 and a
2nd place finish this
past season, it seems
hard to believe that the
Lady Raiders cant put
a team on the court as
November arrives. Its
been a negative impact
for numerous Montana
communities spanning at
least a couple of decades.
Hinsdale freshmen

Casity Boucher and

Mickayla Johnson will
be playing their girls
basketball with the SacoWhitewater
Panthers
during the upcoming
2014-15
season
as
declining enrollment is
hitting Hinsdale High
School.
It is unknown at
this time whether senior
Courtney
Capdeville,
junior Delaney Beil
or sophomore Payton
Chopper will join the
Panthers. However, it

is known at this time

there will be no Hinsdale
Raiders high school girls
basketball program this
season.
Seems the older we
get, the sadder it gets.
But for Raiders fans
and beyond, the fond
memories of their girls
making
back-to-back
appearances at the State
C Tournament will last
and hopefully we will
be cheering for the Lady
Raiders again some time
in the future.

We are in a situation where we are looking to order
letters for the new elementary school. I asked the Board,
are we going to change the name of the elementary?
This first came about when R.L. Irles family,
currently living in Alaska, called to ask for items from
the building if we were going to change the name. I
was told that in Alaska they name the building and were
aware that we were building a new k-5 building so a
possible name change could take place.

At our Board work session last night, I again asked
the board for input. We are looking to see if we are going
to keep the IRLE ELEMENTARY name or possibly
WESTSIDE ELEMENTARY would be more fitting.
We have a quick turn around time on this. What
are your thoughts? Please comment.

Block Management is a cooperative effort between

Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), private landowners and
public land management agencies to help landowners
manage hunting activities and provide free public
hunting access to private and isolated public lands. In
Region 7 alone, there are over 320 cooperators forming
266 Block Management Areas (BMAs) providing over
2.4 million acres of access.
Block Management Areas are unique and range in
size from 200 to more than 100,000 acres. Some BMAs
have diverse habitat types and offer a wide variety of
hunting opportunities; others offer limited hunting
opportunities for specific game species.

Across the state all BMAs are classified as Type I or Type
II. Type I BMAs are areas where hunters administer their
own permission either by using sign-in boxes or rosters, or
areas that specify no permission is required. Type II BMAs
MONTANAS FORD HEADQUARTERS
are areas where someone other than the hunter administers NORTHEAST

OBITUARY

Mike Edwards
Michael Mike Louis Edwards,
age 58, of Glasgow, Montana, died
in the Billings Clinic on Thursday,
September 25, 2014.
A Celebration of Life for Mike
will be held on Saturday, November
1st, 2014 from 2:00 P.M to 5:00
P.M at the Elks Club in Glasgow,
Montana. Bell Mortuary is in charge
of arrangements.
To every thing there is a season
and a time to every purpose under
the heaven. According to Mike,
this was elk hunting season! With
family and friends by his side, Mike
made his peace with this world and
was ready to go on his final hunting
trip. He said, Ive walked through
the valley of the shadow of death
already; it wasnt a bad place, but piss
poor elk country.
Per Mikes wishes, no formal
services will be held, however, he did
want family and friends to gather for
a celebration of life. He insisted it
had to be after archery season.
Mike was born June 23, 1956
to Roy and Dolores Edwards in
Glasgow, Montana. He was the
youngest of his three siblings; Gwen,

Debra and Gary. In 1982, Mike

married Lisa Gauthier. To this union,
a son, Tyler, and a daughter, Erica,
were born. They later divorced.
Mike married Carrie Nicol in 2012.
Many will remember Mike
from his Glasgow Scotty days where
he was well known for his football
accomplishments, which included
playing in the Montana East/West
Shrine game. He was accepted to
play football for the Eastern Montana
College Yellowjackets, however, soon
realized that college life was not for
him. He went to work for BNSF in
1975 and worked as an engineer until
2012.
Mike loved to be outdoors.
Whether it was hunting, fishing,
boating, water skiing, snowmobiling,
hiking, rodeoing, etcyou name
it, Mike had likely tried it at one
point in his life! Like any avid
outdoorsman, Mike took pride in
teaching his beliefs and practices of
hunting and fishing to his children.
Mikes sense of humor will be missed.
His off color jokes and calling things
as he saw them were not always
appropriate, but always seemed to
get those around him rolling with
laughter. A few of his favorite sayings

were Cowboy Up and Life isnt

fair. In recent years, he also enjoyed
having daily coffee and playing cards
with the crew at the Oasis.
Mike was preceded in death
by his father, Roy Edwards. He is
survived by his wife, Carrie; mother,
Dolores Edwards; son, Tyler Edwards
(Casey Johnston); daughter, Erica
Edwards(fianc Josh Ames); siblings,
Gwen (Steve) Hoppe, Debra (Dave)
Rang, Gary (Leisha) Edwards;
nephews, Todd Holemeyer, Dustin
Edwards, Charlie Rang and nieces,
Joyce Ludwig, Jessica Garcia, Bonnie
Markle, Janel Rittenhouse and
Amanda Edwards.
Memorial donations may be made in
his name to the Scotty Booster Club
or any charity of your choice.
