Look at these breasts. What do you see? Do you think any other them are
saggy? If you look at the pictures you might see low-hanging or sagging breasts. But
are they really? What defines a saggy breast? What can be done to treat it? Can it
be prevented? Let's find out.


Def i ni ng 'Saggi ng' Br east s

Beauty is defined as several characteristics that one finds appealing about
something or someone else. For a woman, this could be her eyes, hair, legs, or even
her breasts. Modern society has placed such a large amount of value to female
breasts; so much so that they can sell products.

Women work hard from a young age to create the body that men will find
appealing. But what happens when the breasts that so often are the center point of
women don't look like they should, especially at a young age? The problem of
sagging breasts is one that many women would like to know more about and know
if there is anything to do to fix this problem.

Breasts can sag, or lower with age. Again, go back to the pictures above.
Breasts do not have muscle tissue but ligaments and connective tissue. When gravity
goes to work, the ligaments stretch and the sag begins. A natural breast at age forty
will not look the same as it did at age eighteen.

Plastic surgeons define sagging breasts as breast ptosis. The term breast ptosis came
from Dr. Paule Regnault in 1976 in Canada. He used the term to define different
degrees that the breast sags. Basically, this makes sagging breasts a medical
condition that can be treated. Who would have thought it? There has even been talk
about making small breasts a medical condition but that one failed. In truth, sagging
breasts are no more of a medical condition than stretch marks or wrinkles.

Sadly, Women are just as fixated on their breasts as men are. They see
supermodels, actresses and pop singers with airbrushed bodies and how men are
fixated with them. They often go through great lengths including exercise, diets,
expensive bras, painful corsets, and even major surgery to become what they see.
But the breast ages just like the rest of the body.

Learning more about the breast, how it sags, why it sags, and what can be done is
the best way for a woman to become most comfortable with the female body.

To understand why the breast sags over time is to understand the breast. The
breast is not made up of muscle like most of the rest of the body. The breast is made
mostly of fatty, glandular, and connective tissue. The glandular tissue is what holds the
lobules also known as the milk glands that lead to the milk ducts. The breast also has
ligaments to help hold it's shape called Cooper's ligaments. One the outside of the
breast are the nipples and the aerolas, which are the darker parts of the nipple.

Most breasts will lose their perk over time. Generally the larger the breast, the
earlier the sag can start. Even though breasts are made of ligaments and the
ligaments will stretch over time to cause sagging, a woman's inherited characteristics
such as skin elasticity and breast density can also affect breast sag. Basically, a breast
that is heavier will sag more than a lighter breast of the same size.

The breasts are fully devolved early in puberty but they are constantly changing over
time. Factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, age, medical conditions, and even
gravity all play a part in what the breast's size and shape over time.


What Causes Saggi ng Br east s?

Sagging breasts is most often related to older women, but it starts early and
continues through a woman's life. After menopause, however, is when the breast
really begins to sag but can start earlier. This process is called breast involution. Breast
involution happens because the milk ducts are no longer needed.

This can happen during menopause, after pregnancy if a woman chooses not to
breastfeed, or after breastfeeding. The tissues in the breast deteriorate, thus causing
sag and a flattened look. There are preventative measures that can be taken earlier
in life such as wearing a supportive bra and exercising that can prevent or reduce
sagging at an older age.

Another possible reason for breast sagging is a lack of the hormone estrogen.
Estrogen is the hormone that aids in breast production during puberty. At
menopause, estrogen production decreases.

When this happens, there is reduction of tissue all throughout the body, including the
breast. The breast's connective tissue is made mostly of a fibrous material called
collagen. Collagen needs estrogen to keep it healthy. Without estrogen, the
connective tissue becomes dehydrated and loses elasticity. Breast involution at work.

Breasts will also sag due to breast feeding. During pregnancy, estrogen and
progesterone are secreted by the ovaries and placenta. This process stimulates the
development of fifteen to twenty milk-producing glands that are found in the breasts

fatty tissue. When a woman breastfeeds, the breasts expand to hold milk produced
from the glands and contract when the milk is released during breastfeeding. This
constant expanding and contracting can leading to sagging breasts after a woman
finishes breastfeeding.

Once breastfeeding is over, the glands may be empty but they will still add bulk and
firmness to the breast. But when menopause arrives, the milk ducts basically retire
because of a drop in the estrogen and progesterone levels. As a result, the breast
shrinks and the inevitable sag begins.

When a woman loses weight, she feels great. But the when weight is lost, the fat
is lost. Since the breast is made mostly of fat, then the breast can start to sag because
the outside skin and ligaments that held the breast are elastic and don't always shrink
with the fat, especially if the weight lost was fast. Skin and ligaments do not shrink as
fast as fat. So now we have saggy breasts and saggy skin. But the rest of the body
look great!

Sadly, younger women like teenagers and women who have never been
pregnant can also have sagging breasts. Many young girls, especially those who
develop breasts at a young age may not wear a bra right away. They find it
embarrassing or they become self-conscious. Since there is no support at a young
age, the breasts are prone to sag early as well.

Another reason for a young girl to have sagging breasts could be if she plays sports
without the proper support. Sports bras are designed to hold the breasts tighter to the
body than a regular bra this giving more support. If a girl doesn't wear a sports bra
while exercising or doing other physical activity, then her breasts will bounce up and
down like the girls on the beach in slow motion. While men like this, the bouncing
stretches the ligaments and skin in the breast possibly causing sagging.

Genetics can cause breast sagging as well. Some women are born with the
genetics to create less fatty and connective tissue in their breasts than others. Darn
genetics! There is a basic ratio of fat to glands in the breast that can often determine
how perky the breasts might be.

For example, a woman with light fat content but heavier glands will be more likely to
have sagging breasts than a woman with equal ratio of both. This can also work for
those with a heavier fat content to lighter glands.

The breast ages with the rest of the body. This is why you don't see old women
with perky teenager-looking breasts saying that they're natural. Unless the breasts
are small, and I mean 'A' cups small, then the breast is going to look a lot different at
age 80 than at age 18.

Fear not! There is good news: men don't really care. According to recent
research, most men say saggy breasts are not a turn off. Perhaps it's because it
means they can have a variety? Probably.

True or false: Bras can stop sagging. Sadly this is false. It's just a myth. Bras can
help or even delay the process of sagging breasts, especially for those who are
overweight and have heavier breasts. But regardless of what momma or grandma
may have told you, a bra will not prevent sagging. Wearing the right kind of bra can
help support and even hide sagging that's already happened though. But to get the
most benefit, you have to wear a bra all the time, including sleep. But even all this
won't stop the inevitable.



How To Tel l I f Your Br east s Ar e Saggy

A dictionary definition of sagging is a 'hanging down (as from exhaustion or
weakness)'. Basically put, sagging is a drooping or sinking from weight or pressure as
compared to the 'norm'. Gravity at work. So what is the 'norm' when beauty and
basic aesthetics are involved?

Compared to the teenaged breast, all breasts look saggy. Compared to
supermodels with their implants and airbrushing, all breasts look saggy too. Most
women and men think that's how breasts are supposed to look. It's what they see on
TV and in magazines every day. It's no wonder women have such an identity
complex!

To me, a breast is 'saggy' when the nipple no longer points straight and starts to
head south. Plastic surgeons have even made it into a 'disease' called breast ptosis
with a scale that measures different degrees of sagginess. But making it a 'disease' or
'disorder' means there a treatment. Plastic surgeons are more than happy to help
there too. But the truth is that breast ptosis as much of a disease as wrinkles or stretch
marks.

The best way to determine if you actually have sagging breasts is to visit a
plastic surgeon and let the doctor look at the breasts without a bra on. But there is a
way to check yourself at home. All you need is a mirror, a small ruler, and your
birthday suit:

First, stand in front of the mirror without a shirt or bra on and look at the nipples. Are
they pointing straight ahead or downwards?

Then, take a ruler and measure your upper arm. Divide that by two.

Position the ruler at this distance based on the number you just got and see where
the nipples are. If they are lower than this point then you have some sagginess
happening.
Also look to see if the nipples are below the folds of the breasts This is also another
sign of sagginess.

Note: Keep in mind while these tests can help determine if you really have sagginess
or not, other factors such as age, weight, and cup size are also factors.



I s I t Nor mal To Hav e Saggi ng Br east s Ev en I f I Hav en't Been Pr egnant ?

Many women find themselves with sagging breasts after breastfeeding or
menopause. Remember involution? So what about the woman who has never been
pregnant and hasn't reach menopause yet? Many childless women feel that their
breasts are sagging more than their friends breasts and wonder if that's normal.

The answer is: sagging happens to all women at some point, regardless. Nature
at work. Even if you never get pregnant, your breasts will start to droop at some point
but mostly by the time you reach menopause and thereafter. If you're overweight,
this is more likely to happen earlier.

Sagging breasts will not kill you but it does cause women to feel less attractive.
Remember that bras can help stop some premature drooping and even make the
breasts appear 'perkier' than they really are but they still only delay the process. Keep
in mind that even though men see perfect breasts on TV, they still don't really care
that much.

Overall, breast sagging is going to happen. Period. But when it happens, how it
happens, and why it happens are all factors that are different for every woman.
Genetics, weight, and age are just a few factors. But here's a few facts that should
help you feel a little better.

First, bras are awesome inventions that can hide so much. Second, sagging breasts
will not kill you. A finally, every woman will have sagging breasts at some point in their
life. Even supermodels.

Chapt er 2: Quest i ons and Answer s

I s i t nor mal f or my br east s t o f eel empt y and saggy af t er
br east f eedi ng?

Yes. It's most prominent for the first six to twelve weeks. This is because the
breasts actually do empty of milk during breastfeeding. The breast becomes hard,
heavy, and can even hurt when it's full of breast milk so it's completely normal for the
breast to feel less full, soft, empty, or all of these after breastfeeding.

The feeling of 'fullness' or even engorgement a nursing mother experiences
during the early weeks usually means that the mother's breasts haven't adjusted yet
to the amount of milk their baby needs. Some women produce too much milk in the
beginning. This can cause pain and leaking to happen.

Thankfully, the breasts usually adjust themselves after the first six to twelve weeks to
the amount that baby needs. Some more severe cases can take longer. By this point,
your breasts will begin to feel less empty, full, and soft.

The leaking may stop, and if you pump to get the excess out, you will probably find
that you don't pump as much or even at all. This doesn't mean that you've stopped
producing enough milk, but that you and baby have figured out how much milk
baby needs. A lot of women will stop breastfeeding at this point because they feel
they've 'dried up'.

The process that causes this to happen is called 'milk synthesis'. Early
postpartum hormone levels called prolactin are overproduced in the early weeks
and months causing mom to have more milk than the baby needs.

Most moms who give birth to one child can, in the beginning, produce enough milk
for twins and even triplets in some cases! In the first few months, high baseline
prolactin levels gradually decrease to lower baseline levels. At this point, it may be
easier for mom's body to adjust milk production to baby's needs.

I s Pl ast i c Sur ger y The Onl y Way To Lose Post Baby Sag?

Yes and no. Every woman experiences a change to their breasts after
pregnancy even if they don't breastfeed. This is different for every woman and usually
involves the loss of breast volume and causes some degree of sagginess because of
the weakening of the supporting breast ligaments.

Knowing that this happens to most women helps others make their decision regarding
surgery but others still want surgical options. Keep in mind though that if you're not
through having children, you might want to wait to get the most out of any surgery
you may choose.

A surgical option for post-baby sag is called a mastopexy, or breast lift. This can
be done with or without breast implants. If you're happy with the size of your breasts
but want that pre-baby look, then the implants aren't necessary.

But if you're looking to increase the size as well as lift the breasts, the implants are an
option. While the incisions vary, they most often have one incision around the areola
and one vertical incisions below the aerola (this is called the lollipop incision). In some
cases, an additional incision is needed in the fold at the base of the breast.

This incision allows the surgeon to reshape and re suspend the breast tissue and to
raise the nipple and areola to the appropriate position. The ultimate shape is
improved but the operation isn't perfect for long-term fullness.

To add a breast implant, it's basically the same operation with the addition of
adding the implant. Depending on the size of the implant, it can be inserted into the
incisions already present from the lift. Sometimes, adding implants will allow the
surgeon to use fewer and even smaller incisions as well.

This surgery will add additional volume and can sometimes even last longer than just
a breast lift alone. The drawback is maintenance. Most surgeons require implants to
be switched with new ones every ten years or so.

There are also several cases of implants leaking and improper placement. The best
thing to do is to research a good board-certified plastic surgeon, try to find one who
specializes in breast surgery, and have a comprehensive and through evaluation
before making any decision.



Can Pec Fl y Exer ci ses Hel p Wi t h Saggi ng Br east s?

Yes. This exercise can help lift breasts without surgery and can even help make
them bigger. It's not an easy exercise though and it takes a while to get easier,
especially to get the most out of it. But when it's not such a struggle, here are a few
tips to get the most out of the exercise for maximum results:

Add more weight as you feel comfortable to the pec fly machine

Increase the time to hold the position. Start at three seconds and work up to ten.

More is not always better. You can get better results if you do only two reps at
fifteen second holding times when you lower the weight on the machine a fourth
of the way back or at halfway back.

A good workout is to do three to five reps, rest two to three minutes then repeat.

This can be a fast way to lift and firm your breasts. You can see results in the first
week by just doing this exercise only twice a week! Once you're satisfied with the size
and shape of your breasts, you can maintain that look by doing this exercise only
once a week. It is work and it takes dedication but exercise is proven to keep the
body (and the breasts) healthier longer.

Wi l l A Good Br a Hel p Saggi ng Br east s?

OK, let's start with a few facts. First of all, over 90% of North American women
say that they wear a bra. Most of those women don't even know if they're wearing
the right size bra for them. They also don't really know why they wear a bra other than
it's just what you do when a girl hits puberty.

Interestingly, wearing a bra isn't necessarily for the sake of the breast, but for
society's sake. It's actually worn for cultural reasons! The truth is that, according to Dr.
Susan Love's book, Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book, ...wearing a bra ...has no medical
necessity whatsoever. Breasts managed just fine before the invention of the
brasserie. A similar myth is the corset is needed for women to support the stomach
muscles.

Now all this doesn't mean that bras aren't helpful, especially in the modern
world. Large-breasted women find bras very helpful. A recent study took several
women with large breasts and asked them to go two weeks either without wearing a
bra or to wear only a strapless bra.

Only one woman chose the strapless bra, by the way. The researchers monitored the
women for changes in muscle pain and tenderness since the shoulders weren't
supporting the major weight of the breasts. At the end of the study, 79% of the

women decided to remove breast weight from their shoulders permanently because
they were now pain free! Interesting.

But bras do have their place in society. It's considered part of a professional
appearance, they provide support, prevent sag, and even help eliminate that
discomfort from sweat that collects from under the breasts. You know what I'm talking
about.

Dress code aside, breast sagging is still inevitable as we've already discussed.
We have been so brainwashed by the mass media of the perfect airbrushed breast
and tend to feel inadequate.

No matter how much money you spend on the latest, most powerful and
comfortable bra or the bra that does everything including make toast, you're still
going to have sagging breasts at the end of the day. There just isn't a bra out there to
stop it. There's no stopping gravity. There are even two studies that state wearing a
bra may actually cause the breast to sag more than by not wearing one. How is that
fair?

OK, so do bras do anything useful or am I just wasting my money? Let's look at
what we know about bras thus far:

Breast sagging has a medical term called breast ptosis. Breast ptosis is a made up
disorder that literally means sagging breasts. There's the old saying that 'The
French have a word for it' meaning they can give a name to anything. That's
probably why a Canadian came up with ptosis. Canada is partly French.

While we're expanding our knowledge base and vocabulary, let's talk about the
upper and lateral portions of the breasts. It's called the tail of Spence. Try working
that into conversation at your next cocktail party. By the way, why is Spence?

Going back to bras, after much research, there seems to be zero evidence that
bras prevent sagging. By the way, I'm tired of writing breast ptosis at this point so
it'll probably stop showing up. I keep feeling like every time I look naked in a mirror I
need to get a prescription for penicillin. Anyway, we've scoured the medical
journals and have found nothing. Zip.

Bras originated in 1863 as an alternative to corsets. Corsets were used to make the
waist skinny and the breasts appealing as a standard of 19
th
century beauty. They
also has this tiny side effect of not being able to breathe. Thus the bra was born.
They still enhance the female form, but in a less restrictive way. By the way, a man
invented the bra. Figures.

Bras have always been billed for their health benefits, even today. When Luman
Chapman submitted his patent for the first bra, he stated that his breast supporter

would help avoid injuries to the breasts and abdomen. By 1927, bras makers
claimed their products helped 'drooping busts' and helped strengthen 'weakened
tissues'.

Then, in 1952, Parent's Magazine (which is now just Parents) offered the odd and
very bizarre suggestion that mother's should occasionally trace the silhouette of
their daughters breasts (presumable unclothed) as to gauge their development.
Then, at the first signs of puberty, the girl should start wearing a training bra so to
prevent 'drooping' from the start. I guess this is better than a trainer corset.

Even bra manufactures don't believe their bras prevent sagging. An article written
back in 2000 in the Independent states that the CEO of Playtex, J ohn Dixey agrees
with surgery professor Robert Mansell. Mansell states sagging is ...a function of the
weight, often the heavy breasts, and these women are wearing bras and it
doesn't prevent it.

Dixey then adds, We have no medical evidence that wearing a bra could
prevent sagging because the breast itself is not a muscle so keeping it toned up is
an impossibility.

Other seem to have greater faith in the bra. In a 1990 article in Runner's World,
exercise physiologist and biomechanics researcher LaJ ean Lawson compares the
bouncing of breasts during running to a woman wearing heavy earrings constantly
and the stretching it causes from the ears. He recommends women should wear a
sports bra when running.

Let's stay on the subject of sports bras for a minute. While the standard bra doesn't
seem to do much for a woman medical or physically, a sports bra seems to be a
good idea and there's even some scientific evidence to back it up with.

But before you get your hopes up, the findings have little to do with sagging.
Anyway, a 1999 article from the J ournal of Science and Medicine in Sport, Mason
et al did a study that had women exercise at varying degree of strenuous activity
while wearing different types of bras or no bra at all. The women reported the least
amount of breast pain while wearing a sports bra. Sadly, this could have been a
better study to prove their point. There were only three subject researched. It's
probably why it didn't win a Nobel Prize.

Now there's little reason to doubt that larger-breasted women benefit from
wearing a bra or that a breastfeeding women benefits as well. Even women who
exercise and/ or play sports should wear a sports bra. But what about the average
woman? Men do not go around wearing jock straps and many don't wear briefs,
just boxers. Boxer provides no support at all.

So, if there's no real benefit to wearing a bra, why do it? They're going to sag
anyway, so that's not a reason. It's still not proven for certain that a bra can slow
this process down either. Perhaps the best reason is for fashion and personal
enhancement. Not to mention that wearing the right bra can prevent that
embarrassing nipple protrusion. Plus, it's just a fact that most men and women feel
better with clothes on. Underwear included.



What About An Under wi r e Br a?

The underwire bra is still a bra, but it's designed to help 'lift' the breasts. The wire
is built into the underside of the cup with the purpose to lift, separate, shape, and to
provide additional support.

Most modern underwire are made of a hard thin plastic or metal that's shaped in a
semi-circle to fit within the bra. Underwire bras come in a massive variety including
breastfeeding, semi bras, or shelf bras. As far as bras go, most women state they
either swear by them or hate them.

The underwire bra is the most marketable bra today. Lacy or not, polka dots or
stripes, ducks or turtles. They come in every color of the rainbow as well as designs.
The can be for simple plain wear or extremely seductive. Younger girls always want to
grow up fast and may try to wear these too soon but it can actually make their
breasts look weird and misshapen. They're intended for older teenagers to adult
women.

While there are no health benefits to wearing an underwire bra, there are a few
health concerns. Increased breast pains, breast infection during lactation, and
allergic reactions to the metal in the underwire have all been reported.

Some have even tried to link breast cancer to wearing an underwire bra but there no
scientific research to back the claim up.

In recent years, the push up bra has replaced the padded bra because it
appears more natural and is more comfortable to wear. As the name says, the push
up does just that. It lifts the breasts and adds shape and contour with extra padding
in the cup itself.

Most use silicon or water sacks to have a more 'natural' look. These bra are more
expensive than the traditional padded bra and are becoming more popular as well.
In a recent poll, 20% of the votes agreed that the push up bra was the greatest
fashion invention ever.

There is a slight benefit to support bras. They could reduce the weight dragging
down your skin so they might perk up a little longer than the girl who goes
commando underneath.



What About Wearing A Bra At Night?

There's nothing wrong with wearing a bra at night if it makes you comfortable.
Some doctors even recommend it when your breasts are sore anyway. I occasionally
wear a sports bra a size too big to sleep at a recommendation after working or being
on my feet for more than twelve hours. I will say my breasts are less sore then next day
as to when I don't bother. But that's just me and not an official study.

In fact, there's no official study at all to support any benefit to wearing a bra at
night. Sleeping in a bra will not make a woman's breasts perkier or sag any less than if
she didn't. It won't cause cancer (nor will the underwire bra by the way) and it won't
stunt breast growth in a girl.

Like me, many women state they like wearing a bra to bed because it makes
them feel more comfortable. If you decide to try it, I would recommend a light-fitting
bra that doesn't have an underwire or a loose-fitting sports bra like I use.

There are even some camisole pajama tops that have a bra built in. They only health
concern out there is if you wear a bra that causes pain or discomfort while sleeping.
J ust pick a different bra and problem solved.

By the way, it's never a good idea to wear a bra that hurts or is too tight. Day or
night. Specialty bra shops and many department store with lingerie departments offer
proper bra fittings. It's a good idea to do this every so often, especially if you lose or
gain weight or get pregnant.



Why Can't Teenager s Wear Under wi r e Br as?

Myth! There's absolutely no reason why a teenager can't wear an underwire
bra. The only exception is a really young girl just entering puberty. Most underwire
bras don't fit properly and can misshape the breasts. But other than that, guess what?
It's your body.

Even teenagers need support for their growing breasts. Besides, we've already
talked about how wearing a bra may help slow down the sagging process. Why not
start as early as possible?



Ar e Ther e Foods That Can Hel p Saggi ng Br east s?

There are foods that can help with overall breast health. Eating healthy and
eating foods that promote healthy skin are best. Foods rich in vitamins A, B, C, E, and
K are all helpful in promoting a healthy body which includes the breasts.

Also eat well with 'good fat' also known as essential fatty acids. These have
been known to help with the elasticity of the skin which can help prevent sag and
perhaps a wrinkle or two. Some good sources are olive oil, flaxseed oil, avocados,
hemp oil, and cold water fish.

Along with a healthy diet is exercise. For the breasts in particular, strengthen the
chest. Pushups, dumbbell chest presses, chest flies, and incline presses are all helpful.
Talk to a personal trainer to find what works best for your body.

Even though running is very healthy, it can wreak havoc on the breasts. Cut
back on the amount of time and distance and always wear a tight-fitting sports bra
any time you run.




Wi l l Br east s Get Saggy Fr om Not Exer ci si ng?

There is no medical proof that your breasts will sag more if you don't wear a bra
while exercising. No excuses now! Remember that breasts are made up of mostly fat
and ligaments. The outside skin and the ligaments are what hold the breasts to the
rest of the body.

This means that the intermittent stretching that occurs during exercise does not
overstretch the skin and ligaments.

However, because exercise causes fat to burn, the fat in the breasts is no exception.
This loss of fat can cause sagging over time.

Most women with smaller breasts prefer to not wear bras while exercising. But
women with larger breasts usually feel more comfortable wearing bras whether
they're working out or not.

Regardless of size, if a woman chooses to wear a bra while exercising, she should find
one that is loose enough to be comfortable and to allow her to move in but tight
enough to hold her breasts in place. Make sure it doesn't have any wires or plastic
that can dig into the body. Even back hooks can rub skin. A sport's bra is a good
idea.



Can Br east f eedi ng Make Br east s Sag?

Yes and no. According to a new study, a new mom's breasts usually won't sag
any more than they did before she because pregnant. But if she continues to have
more children, the sagging is most likely. Note to self: have only one baby...

According to Dr. Brian Rinker, a plastic surgeon from the University of Kentucky,
A lot of times, if a woman comes in for a breast lift or breast augmentation, she'll say,
'I want to fix what breastfeeding did to my breasts.'

Dr. Rinker decided to study any possible connection after noticing the trend. Dr.
Rinker and his staff interviewed 132 who came in for a breast augmentation or lift as a
result of breastfeeding between 1996 and 2006. Most of the women had an average
age of 39 and had been pregnant at least once.

The study evaluated medical history, height, weight, pre-pregnancy bra cup size and
whether or not the woman smoked. Out of the 132 women, 58% had breastfed at
least one child. They also found out that the women on average breastfed for the first
nine months.

According to the research, breastfeeding does not make breasts sag. There
was no difference in the extent of ptosis in the women who breastfed as opposed to
the women who didn't. Even though breastfeeding has nothing to do with saggy
breasts, pregnancy can. As already stated, the more times a woman is pregnant, the
more likely her breasts will sag.

But don't blame saggy breasts only on pregnancy! According to the American
Society of Plastic Surgeons, smoking and age play an important role as well.

Kevin Hancock, a consultant plastic surgeon based in Liverpool states that
pregnancy often changes the size of the breasts which can stretch the tissue and

make sagging more likely. This often becomes an issue when the breasts stop
producing milk and begin to shrink. This process is called post-lactation atrophy.

However, Mr. Hancock also states that There is no evidence that
breastfeeding make any difference to these changes.



Wi l l Smoki ng Cause My Br east s To Sag?

Smoking is not the direct cause of breast sagginess but it can be a factor. A
woman's breasts will sag more with each pregnancy. So a woman with children will
likely have sagging breasts regardless of smoking. But smoking breaks down a protein
called elastin. Dr. Rinker say elastin is what gives skin its youthful, elastic appearance.
Elastin also helps support the breasts. When a woman smokes, that elastin is
decreased so not only is she more likely to have sagging breasts but the rest of her
skin is affected as well. Avoiding smoking as well as sun exposure can help retain skin
elasticity.



Wi l l My Br east s Per k Up Af t er Weani ng?

Many women are surprised at how much their breasts change after pregnancy
regardless of whether the breastfed or not. But how much they change is determined
by genetics (not that again!), smoking, and weight gain during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding still takes the brunt of the blame though, but as already stated, it's not
public enemy #1.

But, if a woman wants a chance to regain those pre-pregnancy breasts after
breastfeeding, she should consider gradual weaning. Both breastfeeding and
gradual weaning make it more likely that fat will be redeposit back into the breasts.
After about six months, the breasts ought to be close to the pre-pregnancy look with
the exception that they may feel a bit denser since fatty tissue is filling them out
again.



How Wi l l Br east f eedi ng Change The Look Of My Br east s?

Life takes a toll on the breasts. It's not just breastfeeding to be worried about,
but age, weight gain or loss, smoking, pregnancy, another pregnancy, and even
gravity take their toll on the breasts.

During pregnancy, your breasts prepare for nursing. They grow larger to hold the milk
while the areolas and nipples become darker. Several days after giving birth, the
breasts become fuller and heavier as milk actually starts to develops. After about two
weeks, your breasts go back to the pregnancy weight until weaning.

When you go back to your pre-pregnancy weight, your breasts will return to
their pre-pregnancy size as well. They probably won't be as perky though. But fear
not! Even though they may never look the way they did before pregnancy, they still
can look decent after about six months after weaning. Exercising the upper body
helps the process along. A little work goes a long way.

Still Worried? Fear Not!

Breastfeeding is not the enemy! So many women are convinced that
breastfeeding is the reason their breasts sag. I suppose it's easy to understand why.
Look at the beating the breasts go though during breastfeeding. Sucking, cracking,
bleeding, the constant expanding and contracting. Of course no breastfeeding
mother forgets the first time baby bites! Oh the teeth! After so many months or even
years, the poor breasts have had enough.

Then look at the benefits. There are studies that claim babies who had breast
milk are more intelligent and tend to have fewer health problems later in life. There
are even studies that say mom benefits from breastfeeding as well!




Can Losi ng Wei ght Make My Br east s Sag?

It depends on the amount of weight that's lost. Ten to twenty pounds? Probably
little or no difference to the breasts. Fifty or more pounds? Probably. The most weight
lost, the more the breasts will be affected. Keep in mind that breasts are made mostly
of fat. When you lose weight what are you losing? You got it! Fat. So it makes sense
that the more weight you lose, the more likely your breasts will sag.

Now having said that, there are ways to have your cake and eat it too.
Exercising while losing weight will help maintain breast size as well as tone the muscles
and skin, including the skin around the breasts.

There is a great exercise that was mentioned earlier called the pec fly exercise that
helps tone the chest muscles and skin. It can also help firm the breasts in the process.
It might even make them bigger! When do I start? Regardless of whether you've had
a baby, want to lose weight, already lost weight, or just want to firm your breasts, this
is a great exercise. Try going to a weight loss or exercise forum and post a question or
two to get the most out of the exercise.

Some women also consider a breast lift and/ or implants after weight loss to
correct sagging breasts. A breast lift basically reshapes the breasts to appear perkier
and fuller. This can be done with or without implants. It's a good idea to wait to have
this surgery until after you've finished having children. Also, if you're losing weight, wait
until you've met your target weight.

If you have very large breasts or are older, a breast lift will only have limited
results because the skin's elasticity. In the end, the lift may not last as long. For larger-
breasted women who've lost weight, the surgeon may also remove excess skin while
maintaining residual volume of the natural breast tissue.



Why Do Some Br east Augment at i on Resul t s Appear Saggy ?

This basically happens for one of two reasons. The first is that just an
augmentation was done instead of a lift and augmentation. So basically you're
taking a saggy breast and making it a larger saggy breast with just an augmentation.
But many women don't want unsightly scars from having a lift so they just opt for the
implant. Only a lift will help with the sag.

The second reason is that breasts can change after the surgery for several
reasons. Weight gain, weight loss, and pregnancy can all lead to post-surgical sag. If
a woman gets implants, there is now a bit more weight added to her breasts
meaning it's a good idea to wear a bra to maintain the skin's elasticity and ligament
support. If not, the weight in the implants can cause sag over time.

It's also important to note that a mature breast lifted or not, is not going to look
like a younger breast. The skin is not as elastic and the breasts natural look is just not
the same.

Always consult a board certified plastic surgeon before making a decision.
They can help decide whether or not an implant is needed and how large it should
be to make for a more 'natural' and full look. Also remember that the larger the
implant, the heavier the breast becomes which can cause sagging over time and
puts you back to square one!

Most surgeons use a formula based on the degree of ptosis the breasts have
before advising the amount of incisions needed or whether or not implants are
recommended as well as size. To determine the degree of ptosis (sagging), the
surgeon looks at the following:

The location of the breast tissue of the chest wall

The location of the nipple and areola in relation to the crease

Location of the glands relative to the crease

The size of the areola

The amount of skin above to the areola

The amount of skin from the areola to the crease

The degree of breast constriction and lack of fullness with a downward facing
nipple and areola

Knowing these factors helps the surgeon determine how to proceed with the
augmentation or lift. Depending on the degree of ptosis, only a few minor incisions
may be needed, leaving smaller scars.

But for a major lift, several incisions may be needed and scarring becomes the focus.
Many women want to be able to show off their breasts as they see fit and would
prefer not to have unsightly scars in the line of sight. I don't blame them.

Depending on what needs to be done, two surgeries may be needed for both
a lift and augmentation, but sometimes the same incisions can be used. The saggier
the breast and/ or the size of the implant desired, and then more incisions will
probably be needed.




Can A Massage Hel p Saggi ng Br east s?

I know some men who would sign up for this! But seriously, breast massages can
be tricky due to the fact that breast tissue is quite delicate. But if it's done properly
with a moderate amount of pressure, then a breast massage may be helpful.
Massaging the breasts can help to make them firmer and healthier, and can also aid
in maintaining the balance of hormones in a woman's body.

A woman can perform her own breast massage or can have someone do it for
her (again, there are men lining up for this one). The massage can be done sitting up
or laying down, whichever makes the woman most comfortable. But because it
requires the breasts to be exposed, it should be done in private. To avoid friction and
discomfort, use massage oil.

The process is fairly simple. The first step is to put some massage oil on the fingers
and apply it to the breast in a circular motion, going from the center of the chest to
the underarm area. Take care to use light pressure at this point.

The second step is massaging the breast after it's fully covered in oil. With both
hands, knead the breast gently as you lift the breast from the body. With both hands
still holding the breast, twist the flesh gently.

Step three is to use the flats of the fingers and try to scoop the fibers of the
breast with utmost gentleness starting clockwise, then counterclockwise.

Finally, step four is to smooth the flesh of the breast with the fingertips going
from the center downward. This is known as the cooling phase. When this is done,
repeat the process on the other breast. After the massage, be sure to drink plenty of
water.

Now before I lose everyone, keep in mind that a breast massage can be
uncomfortable or even painful no matter how gently it's done. That's why minimal
pressure is best. It's also best to do it yourself to keep the pain and pressure to a
minimum.

If you decide to give it a try, the benefits may outweigh the discomfort. Breast
massages can give the breast a beautiful, healthy appearance as well as shape,
tone and promote growth. It's used as an alternative to surgery for breast
enhancement.

Here's another benefit. Not only can it help the bust line, but it may even save
your life. Regular massages mean a keen understanding of your breast so if a change
occurs like an unknown mass, then further evaluation may happen sooner. As we all
know, the sooner breast cancer is detected, the more effective treatment can be.

Breast massages have been used for years as a means of lymphatic drainage,
breast growth promotion, and as post-operative therapy for women who have mad
mastectomies, breast trauma, or other surgery to the breast. It helps to break down
scar tissue, stimulates healing, and aids in tissue regeneration.

There's a bit of speculation out there regarding wearing bra because it restricts the
lymphatic system from removing toxins in a healthy way. Since not wearing a bra is
not an option in most modern societies, a breast massage is an excellent alternative

to allow the lymphatic system to do its job. When toxins are released, the chance of
cancer is reduced.

Many women in Asia state that not only are breast massages good for the
overall look and feel of the breasts, but it increases their self esteem and gives them a
peace of mind much like other massages do. Even the Thai government supports
breast massages as a means of breast enhancement and overall breast health. Now
that's something!

Women who perform regular breast massages also utilize other herbal serums
and creams such as Benefil Breast Massage Cream into their practice to not only
further stimulate the breasts into expanding, firming, and toning, but also to help
create an overall look of fullness and less sagginess.

There's a couple things to keep in mind when considering breast massages:

Always use a cream or lubricant to help prevent friction as well as increases

steamy water. This will help with less friction.

You can massage more than once a day if you want to, since it only take just a
few minutes. It can even increase the benefit. It just depends on your schedule.




Can Sl eepi ng Wi t hout A Br a Cause Saggi ng Br east s Ov er Ti me?

Nope! As we've already talked about, bras don't really do anything more that
to keep your breasts from bouncing all around all day. But what it can do is stop your
breast tissue from growing properly and it can even increase the chances of
damaging the tissue.

Since breast tissue protects the milk glands, they too can be damaged. Keep that in
mind if you're still planning on children and possibly breastfeeding them.

But if you do decide to wear a bra to bed, avoid underwire bras. Not only are
they uncomfortable to sleep in but they can cause even more damage. Try wearing
a loose fitting sports bra instead.

But seriously, give the girls a chance to breathe once in a while!

Oh, and by the way, wearing a bra at night does not increase your chances of
developing breast cancer. There's still no concrete cause of breast cancer period.




What I s A Br east Li f t ? I s I t Wor t h I t ?

We've already covered this a bit before but let's get some juicy details! A breast
lift, or mastopexy is basically an elective surgery or surgeries to reshape the breasts.

It's performed by a plastic surgeon who may remove excess skin on the bottom of the
breast and tighten skin on the top of breast as well as reshape tissue inside the breast
to lift the breasts and add contour. A mastopexy may also involved repositioning of
the areolas and nipples. This is also where the majority of the incisions are going to be
placed as well.

Most incisions are at the crease underneath the breast with a vertical line under
the breast starting at the areola and going down. This is known as the anchor incision
on the inverted T incision. This technique is widely used because of its consistent
success with reshaping the breasts.

It's also desirable because the scars blend in well on the areolas and are mostly
hidden out of the line of sight with clothes on. But depending on the amount of work
that needs to be done, these incisions may be larger and other incisions may be
required as well. A mastopexy can be performed alone or in combination with a
breast augmentation, which is the placement of breast implants.

The changes that a mastopexy or a mastopexy/ augmentation combination
are only a temporary fix. The effects of gravity and aging are still going to work their
magic over time. That's why it's recommended that a woman who's had a lift,
especially a lift with implants wear a bra.

The implants will made the breasts heavier and gravity will work faster than it did
before the implants. But fear not! You can always have another lift or you can just
allow nature to take over.

There are modified versions of the mastopexy that have been developed to
produce the same results but with less scarring by using fewer incisions. Modified
mastopexies are usually done with augmentations.

A popular version is called the Benelli breast lift, or the concentric mastopexy.
But you can call it the donut lift! The in the procedure, a ring of tissue is removed from
around the areola which limits scarring in this area. This procedure sometimes will
include the removal of excess skin underneath the breast.

Another modified version of the Benelli lift is the crescent lift. J ust like in the
donut lift, the ring around the areola is removed as well but further tissue is taken from
above the areola causing the areola and nipple to lift upwards.

The last version is the lollipop. This involves an incision around the areola as well
as a vertical incision starting from the areola and going downward to the crease
underneath the breast.

No matter which version you pick, they all do the same basic job. To lift. Excess
skin is removes, skin is tightened, and the breast as a whole appears more youthful,
firmer and better positioned. But beware of the modified versions. One of the
potential drawback to these are that less changes can be made to the breast.

Keep in mind that with just a mastopexy, size does not change. To increase size,
consider having an augmentation done with the lift. But beware because this might
require a second surgery and possibly more scarring.




Wi l l My Br east s Sag Lat er Af t er Hav i ng A Br east Augment at i on?

Remember that genetics often play a role is sagging to begin with. Although a
breast augmentation can correct sagging to a certain degree, it can't correct
everything. If sagging breasts is the main concern, then a mastopexy, or breast lift
might be considered instead.

If the breasts contain a large amount of tissue, then that's probably a good part of
the reason why your breasts are sagging to start with. Adding more weight from an
augmentation is only going to make things worse. But if you're looking to add size, try
both procedures together.

No matter what, gravity will eventually catch up with you. When it's all said and
done, do regret going bra-less or all that jogging in your younger days. It was going to
happen anyway! But some women, especially women with larger breasts, may see
sagging in their twenties. Women who have also had dramatic weight loss will have
the same problem. Women also notice a change after pregnancy and/or
breastfeeding.

The fact of the matter is that those perky, shapely breasts of your teens and
early twenties that define a sexy figure won't hang around for long. But thats all we
as a society focus on and seems to forget that those perky breasts only last such a
short amount of time.

To attain that look of youth often requires surgery. Plastic surgeons can lift the
breasts to appear 'perkier' in clothing and out for a time, but gravity is a sneaky fellow
and will continue to stalk the breasts until eventually it catches up with them again.
No matter how many surgeries you have, the breasts will sag eventually. But that
doesn't mean that surgery won't help.

Now don't get me wrong, surgery does help, but it does not cure. Basically
surgery postpones the inevitable. A breast lift involves a couple of small incisions
around the areola and down the bottom of the breast to the crease knows as the
anchor incision. Basically this surgery removes excess skin and reshapes the breast
tissue to give it a 'perkier' appearance. Many women will also opt to have a breast
augmentation along with a lift to increase their size and add a firmer feel to the
breasts.

When deciding on whether to have just breast augmentation, breast lift, or
both, a scale was created by Dr. Loftus to help you decide.

Grade I: Mild Ptosis
Most women with have very minor sagging and can usually avoid a lift.
Keep in mind that your nipples will still be appear lower though but more
than likely you'll find that you're happier with fewer scars.

Grade II: Moderate Ptosis
Grade II often has enough sagging to encourage a lift to fix the nipple line.
A lift is recommended.

Grade III: Severe Ptosis
There is obvious sagging and the nipple line is very low. A lift is strongly
recommended.

With Grade II and Grade III, a lift is not only a good option, but should be done
in conjunction with an augmentation. If not, then theres a high chance of a bulge
wither above or below the implant as known as bulging or double bubble. This
happens due to the apparent fullness of the upper half of the breast. When the
implants are placed in the proper position, the natural breast is so low that it appears
that it's hanging off the implant.

If this occurs after an augmentation without a lift, a lift can still be done and
usually corrects the problem. If a surgeon attempts to fix the bulging by lowering the
implant, then it's only going to cause more problems and a double bubble will
appear. This is a bulge below the implant. So now you have a bulge above and
below the implant. That's a big problem so it's just a good idea to have both a lift and
augmentation at the same time.

Breast augmentation surgery is often performed under general anesthesia and
can take anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours. The time depends on the
amount of work that needs to be done and whether or not the woman wants
implants too. In some cases, more than one surgery may be needed.

Before surgery, you meet with a surgeon to discuss what you want out of the
surgery and what needs to be done to attain that goal. J ust like any medical
procedure, a medical history, drug allergies, and current medications are discussed.
Recovery time and what happens during recovery will also be discussed. You may
even need to buy certain supplies such as a surgical bra to wear during recover,
bandages to change incision dressings with.

After surgery, expect some bruising, swelling, and discomfort for the first several
days. Pain medication may be prescribed to help deal with these issues. After about
a week, most women can even return to work and begin to start doing their daily
routines again. But strenuous activities like heavy lifting and exercise should be
gradually and carefully added back into the mix.

Like any surgery, there are always risks. But other than the general risks, most
breast surgeries have few problems. But do look out for excessive swelling, infection,
and wounds not healing properly. These need to be evaluated by the surgeon who
did the procedure or by another doctor as soon as possible. These conditions are
almost always treatable and rarely life-threatening.

Yes, surgery can help make breasts larger and younger-looking, but it's not the
only way to enhance the breasts. There are natural alternatives such as exercise and
herbal creams that can help to perk up breasts but they won't really increase bust

There are various forms of exercise that can help tone and firm the breasts. Talk
to your doctor, a personal trainer or even research the internet as these are all

While exercising can help improve the overall health of the breasts, but it will
not increase the size. Remember that breasts are made mostly of fat and contain no

posture. When your posture is better, your breasts actually look healthier as well.

Combining exercising with herbal supplements can also be very effective in the
overall health of your breasts. It's attacking the same problem from two angles.
Exercising can lift and firm the breasts naturally and certain herbal supplements can
actually help increase the size!

Besides the pec fly exercise, swimming is another excellent exercise to improve
breast vitality. Try this for breast reduction as well as weight loss but keep in mind that
a woman with naturally larger breasts and is not overweight is not going to have the

throughout a woman's lifetime and are caused by several factors including age,
pregnancy, weight loss, and breastfeeding. But high heels? Interestingly this may be
partly true.

OK, you couch potato, listen up. Also, those of you who work at a desk all day
might be interested in this too. When you sit for a long period of time or are constantly
in a sitting position, you can actually cause the muscles near the front of the hips to
become short and tight.

It can also cause the butt muscles to forget how to contract. No jokes please.
So the combination of tight front muscles and loose back muscles ultimately causes
the pelvis to tilt forward to create the dreaded pooch of the lower abdomen. Know
what else causes belly pooch? High heels!

According to Rachel Cosgrove, C.S.C.S, a fitness adviser for Women's Health,
High-fashion shoes not only contribute to your pooch, but again, leave you less
perky up top as well. She also goes on to state, Wearing high heels can result in
sagging breasts. Heels make your ankle muscles tight. This leads to tighter muscles all
the way up your legs to your lower back. And a tight lower back causes you to
compensate by hunching forward even more, so your sag worsens.

So, should you throw out those heels? Can't live without the heels? There are
actually work places that require women to wear heels. What should they do? There
are things that can be done to help. Always sit as tall as you can. Exercise daily, eat
healthy, and stretch your chest. Also try to minimize the time you spend in heels. Try to
wear flats on the way to work or event and then change back into them on your way
home.

In the long run, you just have to ask yourself if heels are worth it. If your goal is to
perk the breasts up and lose the sag, then sacrifice is the name of the game. Limit
your time in heels. Choose an alternative. J ust think ahead about your goals and
what you need to achieve them.

So we've talked about the pros and cons of breast lifts, implants, natural
alternatives, and other alternatives to fix sagging breasts. But the question still remains.
Will breast implants fix sagging breasts?

Yes and no. A breast lift is more likely to actually fix sagging breasts and
readjust the nipple location. Breast implants just add volume and size. You can
combine both. It's like having your cake and eating it too.

Breast implants, also known as breast augmentation, are best for the woman
who wants a larger bust. Low self-esteem has been linked to smaller breasts in
women. So basically for some women, larger breasts can improve self-esteem and
confidence as well as allow women to even wear clothing they might not have worn
before. Confidence can go a long way.

Breast implants can help correct nature's mistakes. Many women naturally have
saggy, lopsided, or crooked breasts. Sometimes one breast can be larger than the

The nipple is the darkened area in the center of the breast. The tip of the nipple
has about twenty tiny openings. The coloration of the nipples is caused by the
person's complexion and can range from pick to brown.

During pregnancy, the nipples will darken but after lactation is complete at the end
of breastfeeding, they will lighten again but the coloration may not always go back
to its original coloration. Although the nipple is found on both men and women, it's
women who actually use their nipples for a practical purpose. They are used for
women to deliver milk to their babies.

J ust like other parts of the body, the nipple can develop several conditions or
defects. Some are genetic and some can be developed over time. Mastitis, inverted
nipples, and intraductal papilloma are just a few conditions that can affect the
nipples.

It's a concern of many women that can start as early as puberty. An inverted
nipple is a nipple that instead of pointing outward, the sink inward causing it to look
like there is an indention in the middle of the areola.


Should I Be Worried About Inverted Nipples?

Well, you can't die from inverted nipples! For many women, it's a cosmetic
thing. But, nipple inversion can be a symptom of breast cancer so if your breasts
suddenly invert without cause or reason, make an appointment to visit your doctor.

Also, a sudden inverted nipple that has some itching and pain along with it may be a
condition knows as inflammatory breast cancer and again, you should make an
appointment to see your doctor soon.

Inverted nipples can make breastfeeding a challenge. Although milk can still
be expressed from the nipple, it's a lot for difficult for baby to latch on and feed. But
fortunately, inverted nipples can sometimes ever, or push themselves out during
pregnancy. This happens because there are adhesions that are located at the base
of the nipple can loosen themselves causing the skin to become more elastic.

Can I Pull The Inverted Nipple Out?

You can try to coach the nipple forward. Try simple nipple stimulation by
massaging around the nipple itself to loosen the adhesion. Try putting both thumbs at
the base of the base of the nipple and then pull outward.

There are also products to help. Aren't there always? Anyway, by using a breast
shell or even a niplette. they exert a suction of the nipples to pull them out. After a
while, these changes can become permanent.
Sur ger y ?

There are two types of surgery to fix inverted nipples. The first one actually cuts
the milk ducts making it impossible to breastfeed later. The second surgery doesn't cut
the milk ducts but rather it cuts the nerve supply to the milk ducts. Unfortunately, there
is also no chance for breastfeeding later with this surgery either.

Any surgery where the nipples are involved causes a risk of not being able to
breastfeed. It's best to think it through, especially if you haven't had any children yet
or still might want more children. Even if you think you might not want to breastfeed,
it's nice to know the option is still there.

There are other non-surgical ways to make your nipples protrude. Teenagers
and women who start menstruating at a late age can have flat nipples but their
nipples can work themselves out on their own as time goes by.

You can also try to stroke the areola once a day with warm hands to encourage
nipple protrusion over time. Breast shields are another non-surgical option. Keep in
mind that when you first start to wear them, only keep them on for a short amount of
time and be prepared for some pain at first. Gradually start wearing them for longer
periods as tolerated for up to six weeks.




Hai r y Ni ppl es

Some women are, mostly because of genetics, more prone to get hair in
places they would rather not have it. The nipples are no exceptions. Most of the time
the hairs that show up on the nipples are coarse and dark. They don't harm anything,
but can get a little embarrassing during intimate encounters.

You can tweeze them, but this can cause some skin irritation. In some cases,
that skin irritation can cause an infection. No one wants an infection, especially on
the breasts. Another option is to cut them close to the skin with a razor. Although
there's a chance for razor burn or a nick, it's still a better option. They'll grow back just
like any other hair so you'll have to keep cutting them off just like any other hair.

The only concern you should have regarding hair around the nipple is excessive
hairiness. If this happens along with irregular periods, then these may be symptoms of
a more serious condition such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS.

Sometimes nipples can become itchy, scaly, or both. This might be a sign of
eczema, or a skin irritation. Eczema can happen anywhere on the body meaning the
nipples are no exception. This mostly happens to women in their late teens and
usually occurs on both nipples. A doctor can rule out other similar conditions such as
scabies and will usually prescribe a steroid cream and may also recommend some
lifestyle changes such as changing detergents and wearing 100% cotton clothing.

Another possibility is 'J ogger's Nipple'. This is cause by a friction of clothing
during movement, especially during long distance running. You can try to protect
your nipples but using petroleum jelly or surgical tape before running. You can also
invest in a silk running vest as well. It's less abrasive than synthetic material.

Rarely, itching and scaling of just one nipple can be a sign of breast cancer. It
usually happens in middle-aged to older women only. While it's uncommon, you
should always visit your Dr. as soon as possible when any change occurs to your
breasts. Especially so if it doesn't go away.




One Br east I s Lar ger Than The Ot her

Other than sagging breasts, it's every woman's greatest breast vanity
nightmare. It's actually a lot more common than you might think. The breasts can vary
in shape and size and even fullness. It's not anything to be worried about unless it
starts long after breast development and doesn't seem to have any cause. If this
happens, visit the doctor to make sure there aren't any masses or cysts in the breast.

Many women often seek surgery to correct the problem. If surgery is an option,
it's a good idea to correct the breast size only. Because uneven breasts can have
different sizes, shape and positions, trying to add implants will only make for uneven
breasts with implants. Fix the breasts first to make them even before trying to do
anything else.




What Causes The Di f f er ences In Br east Si zes?

Most doctors assume that breast size differences are either genetic or random.
Since the breasts are stimulated to grow during puberty, with estrogen causing the
breasts to bud about two years after the start of menstruation. The breast will
continue to grow for about two-four more years. It's during this time that the breasts
can grow at different rates.

But once you enter your early 20s, breast development usually is stopped by this
time and if the breasts are uneven at this time, then the changes are probably not
going to change until after menopause or during pregnancy.

Most breast size differences are generally less than a cup and do not require
any surgical intervention. But if the breast sizes are more than a cup in difference,
surgery may be needed to correct the problem. Surgery can also be done if the sizes
are less than a cup apart but it's less noticeable and it's really a judgment decision.

To determine cup size, try using the technique that plastic surgeons use. Using a
tape measure with inch markings on it, start at the outside of the chest where the
breast begins. Measure across the fullest part of the breasts, which is usually across
the nipple, to where the other side of the breast stops near the breast bone. To find
your size, refer to the chart below:

Most surgeons prefer to wait until the woman is at least 18 years old mostly
because of the fact that teenagers may still have developing breasts. This is
especially so if the teenager had a late onset menses. Generally speaking, it's best
not to operate during the first two years after the start of menses. The exception is a
condition called virginal hypertrophy. This is basically when one breast overgrown
during puberty and can get up to a D cup or greater. Surgery is often recommended
at a much younger age even if the other breast isn't finished developing.

Surgery for asymmetrical breasts may require augmentation of one or both
breasts, a reduction mammoplasty of one or both breasts if hypertrophy is present.
There can also be surgery that combines both a reduction of one breast and an
augmentation of the second. Sagging may also be fixed at the same time
depending on the level of ptosis. This is getting complicated! Surgery to correct
asymmetry in breasts ha about a 90% success rate.




What Ot her Abnor mal Br east Si zes And Shapes Ar e Ther e And What
Can Be Done To Fi x Them?

There other types of breast abnormalities that can benefit from surgery as well.
Tuberous breasts are one such example. Tuberous breasts get their name from the
tube shape they present with. The base of the breast is more constricted rather than
broad giving the entire breast a tube-like look to it in stead of the cone that most
breasts appear as. Tuberous breasts can be surgically corrected.

Hypoplasia is another condition that is a lack of breast development, which is
usually genetic. Implants can be added to help correct the condition. Hyperplasia is
a complete opposite where the breasts are too large. This is also an easy surgical fix.

While not usually life-threatening, abnormal breast sizes can cause more self
esteem problems. It's good to know that if you have abnormal breasts, you're not
alone. It's also nice to know that the problem can be fixed more of the time.

Mast opexy Tr eat ment s And Ri sks

A mastopexy, or breast lift, carries risks just like any other surgery. Most of these are
normal surgical risks. Smoking, however, dramatically increases these risks which is
why most surgeons won't perform a mastopexy for women who do actively smoke.

Possible complications include:

Bleeding
While unusual, bleeding can occur after any surgery. A matopexy is no
exception. It may require emergency treatment to drain the blood. A blood
transfusion may also be required. Most surgeons ask or may even require
you to not take aspirin or other blood-thinning medicines prior to surgery.
Certain herbs and dietary suppliments may also increase the risk of
bleeding. Most of the time, a woman only loses about two test tubes worth
of blood on average.

Infection
This occurs in about 2% of surgeries and is mostly due to patients or medical
staff not properly keeping their incision sites clean during healing. But if
infection does occur, antibiotics are usually required to treat the infection. In
more serious cases, the infection may need to be drained. Toxic Shock
Syndrome is a rare condition that has been noted after surgery, including
mastopexy and can be life-threatening.

Hematoma and Seroma
Sometimes blood can accumulate and collect in the breast tissues and can
form a hematoma. A seroma can develop from the breakdown or
accumulation from the hematoma.

In some cases that require extensive incisions or manupulation of the breast
tissue, the surgeon will place a drain in the breast so as to remove the fluid
and blood that may build up to prevent the formation of a hematoma and
seromas. When the drain is removed, fluid may still build up after trauma to
the breasts or vigorous exercise. This may require additional treatment.

Scarring
All surgeries invlove scarring. Breast surgery is no exception. Scars are
permanent but can fade with time. Everyone scars differently. All scars look
red and raised at first, but will gradually heal and even out.

Different ethnic groups heal differently and scar differently as well, including
thicker scars. In most women, scars will be less noticeable after about a

year. In rare cases, some scars may heal differently and may require further
treatment or revision. Keeping in mind that smoking results in poor healing
causing scarring to be more noticeable.

Pain
As with any surgery, pain can be a common side effect, with the greatest
pain occurring in the first forty-eight hours after surgery. Pain medication is
usually prescribed to take the edge off. In rare cases, some women develop
chronic pain and may require additional treatment.

Change in nipple and skin sensation
Men may not like this one! It's not uncommon to experience temporary
numbness of the skin and nipples after surgery to the breast. This usually
resolves itself in roughly six weeks to six months.

During this time, hypersensitivity and increased sensation are common. Now
men will like this: these symptoms can sometimes be relieved with a
massage to the breasts.
There is also a chance for permanent or partial loss of sensation in the
breasts and/ or nipples. This usually depends on the amount of surgery that
was performed and if there were any complications. This only happens in
about 10% of all breast surgeries.

Asymmetry
As we've already talked about, no two breasts are alike. This is even more
common with sagging breasts. Keeping this in mind, after breast surgery, the
breasts can and might heal and adjust at different rates. So it's common to
see asymmetry during the healing process.

There might be slight differences after healing is complete but nothing to be
worried about. There is the rare case that further surgery is required if the
asymmetry does not resolve itself on its own.

Poor incision healing
Some women heal at different rates than others do. This is especially true for
the areas around the nipple. This is common with the inverted T incision.
During the healing process, frequent bandage changes are necessary to
keep the incision site clean and able to heal properly.

For those women who have a decreased blood supply or have had
previous radiation therapy generally have more issues regarding wound
healing and are the ones with the most problems. Smokers also have
healing issues and often take longer than women who don't smoke to heal.

Damage or necrosis of breast tissue

There is a risk that some small areas of fatty tissue deep within the breast
may die, or become necrotic. When this happens, a hardened mass can
form within the breast itself and can actually be mistaken for breast lumps. A
mammogram can tell for sure. In some cases, the mass may need to be
removed.

Changes to the nipple and areola
After surgery, the nipple and areola will not look the same nor will they ever
go back to their original look. The areola may even stretch out after surgery
depending on the skin elasticity.

Recurrent ptosis
Remember, although a maxopexy can turn back the clock, it can't stop it.
For those who have sun exposure to the breasts, thin skin, or stretch marks
are at a higher risk of 'bottoming out' earlier or redeveloping ptosis sooner
after a maxopexy is done.

Skin discoloration and swelling
Bruising and swelling are normal after a breast lift and will often go away
within the first week. The skin on or near the surgical site can also appear
darker or lighter than the skin around it. But it's very rare for swelling or
discoloration to be permanent.

Allergic reactions
In rare cases, a woman may experience an allergic reaction to the surgical
tape, sutures, glues, blood products, topical preparations and/ or injection
sites. These reactions can also include, in very rare cases, shock from the
drugs used both pre and post surgery.

Anesthesia reactions
All anesthesia can pose a possible problem for any person undergoing a
procedure. Complications can include allergic reaction, injury, or even
death. The anesthetist needs to know if you've ever had anesthesia before
and also if you've had any reactions in the past as well.

Future pregnancy and breastfeeding
Keep in mind that is it possible for your breasts to enlarge and the skin
around the breast to stretch during pregnancy. As far as breastfeeding,
we've already talked about how it's almost impossible to breastfeed after
having a mastopexy.

Mastopexy and breast implant removal at the same time
Having both of the procedures done at the same time greatly increases the
chances of skin necrosis (or dead skin) as well as necrosis to the nipple and

breast tissue due to the decreased blood supply to the tissues from the
implant removal.





Unev en Br east s Bef or e And Af t er I mpl ant s

As we've already talked about, almost all women have uneven breasts. Deal with
it! But of all the women in the world, statically speaking only about 45% have a
noticeable difference. There are actually reasons for this believe it or not.

Alignment of the body
If the body is properly aligned (like a car), then fat deposits evenly. Most of
us are born aligned (like a new car) and it's with age, injury, sleep patterns,
stress, disease, and even posture that can affect this alignment (car gets
worn and old). All this can affect breast alignment as well (unaligned car
and you were wondering where the car joke was going).

Right or left hand dominance
What? Are you kidding me? Nope it true! For most women, their larger
breast on the same side as their dominant hand. The reason is because the
muscles of that arm do the large share of the work. I wonder if this is the
same for men...

Breastfeeding babies
Sometimes both mother and baby favor one breast over the other. When
this happens, that breast will contract and expand more because of a
greater milk production and probably will end up a little larger than the
other one once breastfeeding is over.




Br east Har dness And Sensi t i v i t y

Breast soreness is very common. Most women will have sore breasts at some point
in their lives. The degrees of soreness and how often vary from woman to woman. It
can be sharp, dull, or achy. It can be just on the nipple area or it can radiate all over
the breast and even into the armpit. For most women, this soreness is hardly
noticeable. But for others, the pain so too much to handle. The official name for
breast soreness is called mastalgia and there are many reasons behind it.

What causes breast pain?
Most women only experience breast pain on or around the time of their
periods and it bother them about as much as cramps. This is normal.
Sometimes the pain comes along with a mass that comes and goes. This
condition is called fibroadenosis and will go away in just about a few weeks
with some medication and is not cancerous.

Lactating women can also get breast pain if they wait too long to
breastfeed or they start the process of weaning.

Types of breast pain
Cyclical pain is basically pain that happens because of a woman's monthly
changes in progesterone and estrogen levels and is responsible for about
75% of all breast pain. If pain is accompanied by lumpiness, cysts, or other
areas of thickened masses, this is often called a fibrocystic change, and
usually begins before or during the menstrual cycle and ends when it's over.
Most of the time cyclical pain goes away after menopause unless a woman
is using a hormone replacement therapy.

Non-cyclical pain in the breast is less common and is not related to a
woman's menstrual cycle. This pain is also pinpointed to a specific area of
the breast. Non-cyclical pain is often caused by trauma to the breast or a
breast biopsy and can occur in all women regardless of menstrual cycle or
menopause, although it's most common in women between the ages of 40-
50. This this pain does not often indicate breast cancer, women should
discuss the pain with the doctors.

Hormonal breast soreness
Breast soreness can happen when women take HRT or hormone
replacement therapy. This is basically a reaction from the tissue in the
breast. The most common cause is an increase in the hormone oestrogen
before a monthly period. Oestrogen is what causes the milk ducts and
glands to swell, causing fluids to becomes trapped in the breast tissue.

Hormonal breast soreness usually stops when the period is over. Thank
goodness. Wouldn't want that all day every day. While soreness because of
HRT is common, it's not usually severe.

Other reasons for breast soreness
Wearing a bra that doesn't fit properly

Stress (killer)
Consuming large quantities of caffeine (another killer)
Weight gain (this is also known as the killer list)
Injury to the breast (that could be a date killer)
Certain medicines like birth control or cholesterol reducers (not really a killer
anything here)
Conditions that affect the chest wall, ribs or muscles around the chest (killer
pain underneath!)

Breast soreness and cancer
Good news! Breast soreness is not really associated with breast cancer.
Finally some decent news.

Diagnosing breast soreness
When diagnosing the cause of breast soreness, the doctor must consider the
following:
Obvious cause of pain (ex: injury)
History of the pain
When, where, and how you feel the pain
Using ultrasounds, mammograms, and any other diagnostic equipment
If you're pre or post-menopausal
Are you taking and HRT (hormone replacement therapy)

Managing breast soreness
Everyone manages pain differently. To feel instant relief, try an anti-
inflammatory cream or gel applied to the area that hurts. Also try going
back and forth between hot and cold to deal with the soreness.

Also try wearing a supportive, well-fitting bra. Go to a local lingerie store and
ask for a proper fitting. Try cutting down on the caffeine, take evening
primrose, or take B vitamins. Most importantly, cut back or quit smoking.
Most of these suggestions take a little longer to work, they are very effective
in the long run.

What happens now?
Remember the good news? Breast pain and soreness does not increase
your chances of getting breast cancer. But any change in the breast is
important so talk to your doctor as soon as possible if you feel any difference
in your breast that wasn't there before, including pain.

Feelings

Yes, women have feelings. These feelings can also be hurt. For many
women, breast soreness makes them upset. The fear cancer, they find all
the testing stressful and invasive. While most women feel relieved when they
realize the soreness is quite common, many women still feel a bit of anxiety.
This is especially true if the doctors can't pinpoint a reason for the pain.

For those women who have breast soreness and find themselves not
wanting to feel intimate, their work performance is affected, and even
relationships can take a hit. Many women feel frustrated as well because
talking about pain in the breasts is a little embarrassing. But there is help. Tell
your doctor or talk to a woman's health nurse. They may suggest counseling
or be able to help you find ways to feel better about yourself again, even
with the pain.

Myst busted! Well, kind of. It's actually pregnancy that is the real villain here. But
still, many women worry that breastfeeding will cause their breasts to sag, or at least
greatly affect their shape. But several studies have still concluded that it's pregnancy
that causes the breast size and change. It's also been found that the more times you
get pregnant, the more your breasts are affected. Smoking also increases these
statistics. Smoking causes a negative effect to the protein elastin, ehich is known to
help keep skin tight and wrinkle-free.

This is a yes and no. Here's why. Aside from sagging, women also worry that their
breasts shrink after they finish breastfeeding. It's true that a woman's breast size
increases during pregnancy and again after giving birth.

When a woman breastfeeds, our breasts are slowly working off that extra fat that was
gained during pregnancy. After a while, most breasts return to the pre-pregnancy
size. So yes, your breasts shrink after breastfeeding but they pretty much go back to
their original size.

While there are several natural techniques that can be used, a breast lift, or
maxopexy, is often the first choice of many women mostly because it's fast. As
already discussed, a maxopexy will help reshape and 'perk' the breasts up giving

There are other natural remedies to help reshape your bustline as well.
Enlargement creams and pills can all help encourage the growth of your bustline
without the pain and scarring of surgery. Pills seem to work best. Progesterone pills
can cause your body to rerelease extra progesterone into the body creating a

So basically there are two choices. Surgery or enhancement. While neither one is a

other issues to worry about like your breasts? It's true! Did you know that if you run a
mile, your breasts feel like they've run about 135 miles? If they were muscle, this would
be great! But they're mostly fat and skin, so all they end up doing is shrinking and
sagging.

This has lead Dr. J oanne Scurr, who has researched this correlation, to advise
wearing the proper equipment when jogging or doing other strenuous exercise. She
states, People rightly spend time and effort to get the right footwear for exercise and
it is equally important to wear the correct sports bra. She goes on to say, Proper
support for the breasts will reduce the stretch to Cooper's ligament. If you remember,
Cooper's ligament is what holds the breasts to the chest wall. When it's overstretch is
when sagging occurs.

There's hope. Dr. Scurr's study also found that by wear the proper sports bra,
bouncing was reduced by almost 40% as opposed to wearing a regular bra for every
day use. She then discovered that bouncing was reduced a big old 78% when
wearing a sports bra when running or jogging. There are several sports bra designed
just for running and jogging out there. Dr. Scurr is right. Get the right equipment for the

right sport. You work hard to find their right shoes, so work hard to find the right sports
bras as well.

If you want to reduce the chances of bouncing even more, then try to limit your
jogging time to just a few times a week. Also limit the distance you run at one time.




Wei ght Loss and Saggi ng Br east s

After extreme weight loss, the breasts are going to sag. So might other parts of the
body. They'll also sag is the absence of exercise for the supporting muscles. They can
still improve. The key is patience. Oh, I said it again! Everyone hates that work when
we're talking about vanity. You worked so hard to lose weight and now you have this
to worry about too? The process to realign the body (remember the car?) will take
about two to three years. Also, the older you are, the longer it takes.

Exercising your chest muscles during weight loss is vital is helping this process along
as well as possibly speeding it up. When you reach your weight loss goal, it'll you'll
have good muscle tone making sagging less noticeable and easier to readjust.

Visit the March 2009 newsletter for recommendations regarding exercise and your
bustline. J ust remember to keep your expectations realistic. Nothing happens
overnight and the older you are, the longer it'll take.

Not every woman wants to lose weight. Some women like their larger breasts and
know that losing weight means losing bust size as well. Not to mention the stretch
marks! The important thing is this.

Remember that it's a combination of diet and exercise that will help with breast size
after weight loss. 'Miracle' diets don't work for this reason. There is no magic pill. These
diet require rapid weight loss and we've talked about what happens with rapid
weight loss.

The idea is to set a goal. Determine how much weight you want to lose. Talk with a
doctor or dietician, or even a weight loss coach to find out about proper diet to help
meet this goal. Then talk to a personal trainer to help decide what exercises are right
for you to meet and maintain this goal. If you're concerned about sagging breasts,
ask about chest wall exercises as well.

If you've already lost the weight and have sagging breasts, the only option for you
may be surgery to perk them back up. Talk with a doctor or surgeon to decide the
best option. You might not even need implants if you're happy with your current size!

While most women only think about the size of their breasts as a whole, other
women have another problem entirely: their nipples. They might be inverted, protrude
too far, are too big, too 'puffy-looking'. For these women, it's all about the nipple. To
them, the more beautiful their nipples, the more beautiful their breasts are.

The nipple is actually made up of two parts: the nipple itself which is what sticks
out, and the areola, which is the dark part surrounding the nipple. Larger nipples can
be either in circumference or in length and can affect a woman's appearance both
in the nude and in clothing. Larger nipples can be caused by genetics, childbirth or
breastfeeding.

Nipple reduction is often done in conjunction with breast augmentation, breast
reduction, or breast lift surgery. It can also be done as an outpatient procedure right
in a doctor's office. The surgery takes around an hour and the woman can resume
normal activities within a day or two. It's not really possible to reduce the nipples
without surgery.

There are two type of nipple reduction. Length reduction and width reduction.
Length reduction can be performed when the nipples are too long or they droop
down. The tip of the nipple is cut off to shorten the length. Sometimes, the skin along
the neck of the nipple is removed. When this happens, the tip of the nipple is sutured
to the base of the nipple.

Width reduction surgery is when the nipple is too wide or too thick. A pie-shaped
wedge is removed from the undersurface of the nipple, allowing for the nipple to be
'taken in'.

Both surgeries can be combined if needed. They can be performed as an
outpatient procedure in a doctor's office under general anesthesia or in an
outpatient surgical site for more complex procedures.

Most recovery times are between one to two days. This treatment doesn't usually
affect the ability to breastfeed but it's worth noting that any time the breast and
nipple undergo the knife, losing the ability to breastfeed is always there.

Breast implants are much more resistant to sag than your own breast tissue is. So if
you have just a little natural breast tissue, you're less prone to sag. The more breast
tissue you have, even with implants, the more likely you'll sag at some point.

Also keep in mind that age will still catch up to you, even after surgery. If sagging
becomes severe while the implant stays in place, you may notice a visible separation.
This is known as a 'double bubble' which we talked about earlier and can only be
fixed surgically.





What Ar e Whi t e Spot s On Ni ppl es?

Is that not the strangest thing? It usually happens during breastfeeding when
there's an obstruction to one or more of the milk ducts. The obstruction might be tiny,
dry clump of milk or a 'string' of fattier semi-solid milk. The dry clump can sometimes
be 'popped' or scraped out. The 'string' will have to be expressed out, usually with a
breast pump.

Another reason for white spots could be because of Montgomery tubercles, or
glands of Montgomery. These are oil-producing glands located on the areola that
secrete an oil that's thought to have antibacterial properties to it. Like any opening
on the skin, it too can get blocked up forming a white spot on the areola. The best
thing to do is to allow the area to clear itself while keep it clean.

By way, white spots can be a sign of pregnancy so if they suddenly appear, you
just might want to talk with your doctor! Also talk to your doctor if any of the white
spots don't clear up either with help or on their own. If not properly treated, infection
can happen.

Chapt er 4: Tr eat ment s

Home Remedi es

Homes remedies vary and usually require some work and dedication for them to
work properly. Exercising your chest wall muscles, olive oil massages, ice massages,
cucumber and egg masks, vegetable oils, and essential oils are all natural treatments
available.

According to the Oregon Institute of Breast Health Education, when a woman
reaches her late thirties, her skin becomes loose and saggy. The breasts are no
exception. They will start to show their age. This is usually anything from just normal
wear and tear to the effects of pregnancy.

Breastfeeding will also cause the effects of age to show as well. The Australian
Institute of Health and Welfare agrees. They state that the tissues in the chest will
loosen while breastfeeding which will make their breasts lose their firmness and their
shape over time.

There are several creams and lotions that are available to help, but beware as
these can also cause several side effects. Consult a gynecologist before starting any
of these creams. There are some home remedies out there that are safer and possibly
even more effective though there's a little research that goes along with them.


Breast Exercise
By strengthening the chest wall muscles, you also strengthen the breasts.
Push ups are a great exercise to help the breasts.

Massage
Massage your breasts with olive oil at least three times a week. This will help
firm the skin as well as improve skin tone and texture. It can also help
improve skin elasticity

Ice Massage
This does not sound very comfortable, but it can be effective to reshape
and firm sagging skin. Basically, you take two ice cubes and massage them
in a circular motion around your breast for at least a minute but no more
than that as the skin around the breast is extremely sensitive.

Breast Mask
Grind a cucumber and add one egg yolk to the mix. Adding so butter or
cream is optional. Apply to the breasts and leave it there for about 15-20
minutes. Don't eat it off! Wash it away. Do this once a week to strengthen
and firm breast tissues.

Special Bras
No not that kind of bra! Look for a bra with the right amount of support and
fit. There are even bras out there that have stronger support holders at the
cup bottom which lift your breasts somewhat to keep them firm. Even a
regular bra may help.

We've talked about the pros and cons already, but It really does help. Dr.
Petra Schneider states, Wearing a bra put less stress on your ligaments. The
more your wear one during the day, the more it helps. It's especially a
good idea to wear a proper one during sports or exercise. You can't go
wrong with a good sports bra for that purpose.

Vegetable Oil
Again, don't eat. Use almond or grape seed oil to massage around your
breasts much like the olive oil. These will help nourish, tone, and give zeal to
the overall look of the breasts.

Essential Oils

Using carrot, cypress, fennel, lemongrass, or spearmint oils can all help add
firmness to the breasts. These oils are pretty strong so no more than two
drops at one time are needed. Since they can cause a burning sensation
alone, try mixing them in with the vegetable oils.

Exercise
Do the fly exercise. Try using a pair of 1-3 pound weights. Take a weight in
each hand and lie on your back on the floor. Extend your arms out at
shoulder level on the floor with your palms up, still holding the weights.

Keeping your arms straight, draw both upward at the same time until they
meet at the top. Then, slowly bring your arms back to the floor the same
way. Repeat this for 15-20 repetitions. Rest for a minute and a half then
repeat the process. Rest then do the process one last time for a total of
three rounds.

Try doing the cheat press. This is a variation of the above exercise. Using a
five pound weight in each hand, lie on your back on the floor. Lift your arms
straight up next to each other above your body. Then, slowly bend your
elbows until the weights touch your chest. Do this for about 15-20 repetitions.
Like the other exercise, rest for a minute and repeat the process twice for
three sets total.

Both of the above exercises will get easier as you build muscle. If you can do
a full set of 15 to start, then start with 5 reps and work your way to 15 or 20 at
a time. You also need to add a back strengthening exercise as well to help
round out your efforts.

To round out your exercise, finish up by strengthening the back. Using a five
or ten pound free weight in one hand, lean on a bench or low, sturdy table.
Place your right knee on top of the surface to support yourself. Keep you left
foot on the floor. With the weight in hand, bend your left elbow and bring
your hand up to your armpit while squeezing your left shoulder blade
towards the spine. Slowly lower the weight back down while keeping your
shoulder blade in the same position. Repeat for 12-15 reps. Rest for a minute
and a half and repeat twice.

Sunscreen
Don't forget to wear sunscreen! Sun exposure causes the skin to lose it's
elasticity. The breasts are no exception. So always wear sunscreen when
your outside in a bathing suit, sundress, or any piece of clothing that exposes
part of the breasts.

Herbs

Using herbs such as shatavari, P. mirifica, Ashoka, Lodra, amalaki, may also
help with firming the breasts in a natural way. These are all said to have
plant estrogen called phytoestrogens that can also help work with human
estrogen as well. Look at a natural health food store or herb retailer for a
single herb or a combination of these herbs already premixed.

Other Beauty Products
There are also several other natural beauty products on the market that
help to firm and round out the breasts without surgery. The come in a variety
of forms such as pills, capsules, creams, gels, etc. that can be ingested or
used on the skin topically. In general, they all contain herbal extracts that
can help firm the breasts.

Massage
Using the herbs, or essential oils, try massaging them into the breasts to get
the most out of them. The massage itself will help improve blood flow in the
breasts which can also help to firm.

close to the floor as possible. That where breast firmness takes place.

Are you tired of talking about bras yet? Well, there's still a bit more to cover. We've
talked about how they don't help and we've talked about how they can help. We've
also talked about what kind of bras to use and what not to use during exercise. But
we haven't really covered an everyday bra yet. It's not really an easy decision. This
can be especially true if you have larger breasts. Many bras, although they come in a
larger size, are only designed for small figures.

There are other factors to consider such as showing off the breasts to their
potential or to play them down and be conservative. Material can be important too.
Lace or not. Silk or cotton. Push up or full coverage. White or red. Polka dots or stripes.
Mickey Mouse or Betty Boop.

OK, so there are more choices out there than just material to consider. Most is just to
taste and has nothing to o with functionality but it does make a point. Basically there
are so many different types of bras out there that it's best to consult a doctor or a
lingerie retailer to find the right fit and type of bra that fits you best.

This problem is even more frustrating again when you consider in a bigger bust.
The argument is always about coverage vs function. Some women with larger busts
want sexy bras. But their selection is limited, especially considering the size of the
breasts. They can also be more expensive than normal size bras because of the extra
material and time spent to make them.

In the end, most big-breasted women prefer to play down their breasts and opt for
the full coverage sizes. Some can even make their breasts appear smaller and less
saggy.


Victoria's Secret

Everyone knows Victoria's Secret and their reputation for quality bras. Not to
mention just about any kind of bra for any kind of person. Frankly, Victoria doesn't
have too many secrets left. But they do train their staff well in helping to fit your bust
properly and recommending a bra that works best for you. If you ask, they even have
some bra designed to help with sagging breasts. Some even do this without any
wires.


Other Recommendations

These bras are all recommendations we've compiled together. They all do
wonders for sagging breasts.

Bali Downtown. This is a wireless bra that actually works! Who would have
thought of such a concept. It even helps with sagging breasts. Believe me,
you'll fool everyone (until you take the bra off. Sorry.)

Bali Cotton Craze. It's soft, stretchy, and very comfortable. Again, it helps perk
up the bust too. Can't beat it.

Again, these are just suggestions. Keep in mind that all women are different and

Home Remedi es For Sor e Ni ppl es

Breastfeeding is one of the most natural things a woman can experience with her
newborn child. She can give nutrients, antibodies, and a special bonding time that
nothing can replace. It can also give a woman sore nipples. It happens. Sometimes it
hurts to love someone.

Sore nipples not only cause pain, but can throb and wearing a bra can be
downright unbearable. Here are some quick remedies to help ease the discomfort
and get back to the important things in life.

Apply a cool compress to your nipples before nursing to help with sore nipples.

Don't discontinue nursing. Frequent nursing will actually cause the nipples to get
used to dealing with the discomfort and eventually it will be bearable.

Avoid wearing a bra during the day or at least wear a nursing bra. This will help
prevent thrush.

Expose the nipples daily to sunlight starting with 30 seconds and moving up to
three minutes.

To prevent cracking, apply olive oil after nursing. Also try sweet almond oil,
lanolin, or comfrey ointment as well for the same results. Pick what feels best for
you. Start using during the last trimester and into nursing to prevent or reduce
cracking and swelling.

Avoid washing the nipples with soap to prevent cracking. The same goes for
deodorant and perfume.

Going back to comfrey ointment, it actually strengthens the nipples making
them less prone to cracking.

Other herbs for sore and/ or cracking nipples include Yarrow leaf poultices to
provide instant relief from cracking nipples, Balsam fir also helps with cracking
relief. Phytolacca Decandra can be very useful with breast infection, mastitis,
and cracked nipples. Calendula cream is useful in treating cracked nipples as
well as using aloe vera cracked in half and applying it to the sore to help it heal
faster as well as provide some pain relief.

Try making your own ointment by mixing together 2 oz of Squaw vine with 1 pint
of water. Add to this an equal amount of cream(make it the really good kind)
and bring the mix to a boil. You're looking for it to get to the consistency of a
soft salve. When cool, strain it. After you finish breastfeeding, apply it to soothe
them.

For cracked and painful nipple, try mixing together about a handful of
elderberry blossoms with a cup of oil. Simmer for about twenty minutes. Cool
the mix and apply to the breasts.

Believe it or not, but your breast milk may be all that you need. After feeding
baby with one breast and while you're feeding baby from the other, try to
express just a little bit of milk from the breast you just finished feeding with. You'll
only need just a few drops. Apply it on that breast then repeat with the other
breast after feeding is over. This help with the soreness.






Easy Way s To I ncr ease Br east Si ze

So let's review shall we? There are several easy ways to increase your breast size. It
all depends on how much work you want to put into it and how much money you
want to spend.

Exercise. It takes some dedication but it can be effective. Exercises such as
push-ups, pec flys, bench presses can strengthen your chest muscles and firm
your breasts, though it won't make them and larger. But beware. This takes
some dedication to maintain.

Give your breasts a massage every day. We've already talked about the

conjunction with the massages to get the most out of them. Using

some women, it may take longer if you have larger breasts or breasts that sag quite a
bit. But the trick is to stick with the plan once results are attained or you just might find

Pec Fly Exercise The Right Way

Doing the pec fly exercise with resistant tubing is a great way to firm and shape
the breasts naturally. 'Pec' comes from the word pectoralis, or chest. Hence the
name. Whether you realize it or not, you use your chest muscles any time you lift
something from a piece a paper to shutting a car door. These muscles are often
overlooked, especially by women. But strengthening these muscles can help to
create a beautiful bustline. It can be done in three simple steps.

Step 1: Anchor resistance tubing to a stationary object at chest level. Start with
arms out wide.

Posture is important to not only properly work the breasts but to get the most
out of every exercise. Always make sure that you keep your shoulder blade
pulled back and down whether you're sitting or exercising. The thighs should be
parallel to the floor when sitting and both feet should be resting equally on the
ground. Maintaining proper posture in everyday life can also help to keep the
breasts firm. Try these exercises to help fix and maintain correct posture.

Exercise 1: Start by holding both elbows together in front of the chest with
the forearms touching. While inhaling, move both arms apart and away
from each other. This will help expand the chest fully and press the muscles
of the upper back against each other. Exhale and bring the elbows towards
each other, pressing them together. Repeat at least 24 times.

Exercise 2: After finishing Exercise 1, hold the elbows against each other and
push the arms towards the ceiling in small, intense movements. Do this for
about 24 times as well. Release the arms and rest for about 10-15 minutes

Exercise 3: Hold the elbows in the position from the first two exercises for
approximately 30-60 seconds. Release the arms and relax.

ten seconds then release and return to the starting position. Repeat with the

movement and the speed. This allows you to develop total body control.
The more control, the stronger you become. Now, with maximum tension
with your palms, push up but make it feel like you're actually trying to push
through the floor. Focus on staying straight as a board at all times.

Step 6: For beginners to moderates, perform about three to four sets of
about ten each. For those with a higher fitness level, do five sets of five

J oin your palms together and raise them above your head until the arms are
straight. Close your eyes and hold this position for ten slow, deep breaths.

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)
Lie down on a flat surface on your stomach and chest. Keep the knees

Raise your head so that your chin is touching the ground. In one movement
and keep your head in the same position, lift you upper body up as far as
you're able without straining your back. Your navel should still be touching
the ground. Hold this pose for 3-5 minutes while taking slow, deep breaths.

After giving birth, the body will slowly turn back to normal within about six weeks.
However, light exercise can be resumed in as little as 24 hours after giving birth
(without complications) with some knee-bending exercises to help stimulate the
abdominal muscles.

Swimming and stationary bikes are great postpartum exercises because they are
non-weight-bearing aerobic exercises that can help restore cardiovascular
conditioning without stressing the joints.

Breasts. Boobs. J ugs. Girls. Ya-ya's. Whatever the name, they're your and you
should be proud of them. But you should also take care of them. Knowing more
about their changes, when they change, and how they change helps you change
with them and help keep them, and you, happy.

Im not going to make this long, but I just want to say this:

Every single one of these techniques works. I know because Ive either used them or
have seen the results by others. Not one of the methods or techniques mentioned in
this guide will work by themselves or run on autopilot

It is up to you to take action and put in the hours. Its up to you to determine how
successful you want to be in firming your breast naturally. Thats what it comes down
to.

It might not happen right away, but in probably a few weeks time its definitely
possible.
