Then Job answered&
2!ndeed ! know that this is so3
but how can a mortal be 4ust before .od5
!f one wished to contend with him,
one could not answer him once in a thousand.
)e is wise in heart, and mighty in strength
#who has resisted him, and succeeded5#
he who removes mountains, and they do not know it,
when he overturns them in his anger3
who shakes the earth out of its place,
and its pillars tremble3
who commands the sun, and it does not rise3
who seals up the stars3
who alone stretched out the heavens
6
and trampled the waves of the Sea3
who made the /ear and Orion,
the 7leiades and the chambers of the south3
who does great things beyond understanding,
and marvellous things without number.
1ook, he passes by me, and ! do not see him3
he moves on, but ! do not perceive him.
)e snatches away3 who can stop him5
$ho will say to him, 8$hat are you doing59
)ow then can ! answer him,
choosing my words with him5
Though ! am innocent, ! cannot answer him3
! must appeal for mercy to my accuser.
!f ! summoned him and he answered me,
! do not believe that he would listen to my voice.
